    Everything I could ask for

A beautiful campground located right next to the Missouri River. Live music, amazing Thai food, general store with snacks, beer, ice cream and merchandise. A bathroom (in addition to portapotties) as well as indoor shower. Very kind people all around

Prettiest sunset on the Missouri River

Super friendly people. They had gotten flooded out two weeks before I got there so there were a few things being rebuilt. They still offered everything they could to me including an indoor shower and bathrooms. A perfect spot if you want to escape road noise and light pollution and be lulled to sleep by the noise of the river not but eight feet away.

    Lakeview Park - Mexico

    Quiet RV/City Park

We camped in a 32' Class C for 7 days during the Miss Missouri Pageant. It's a quite little park with maybe 15-20 sites with electric only. There is potable water and sewer dump on site. So W of the sites could be considered pull through depending if you have a neighbor or not. Some of the camp sites are arranged like a standard parking lot where you back in or pull in nose to nose or bumper to bumper depending on your type of rig. There is a fair amount of shade. The RV park is also the city park so there is a fair amount of traffic in and out during the day but not too bad. There is a playground area, bicycle /walking path as well as public flush toilets and a pavilion. It worked perfectly for our needs.

    Cooper’s Landing Campgrounds and Marina

    Pleasant surprise

This was a nice short notice trip we took. Only downside is it’s near MU, so throughout the day, you get a lot of kids hanging out until the “quiet hours” set in. Next time we’ll bring bikes and hop on the trail.

Also, we caught an AMAZING sunset from our site!

MO River & Katy trail fun

See beautiful scenery on the MO River & Katy Trail. You may get to see a paddleboat cruising the river. Cooper’s has spectacular sunsets, a boat ramp, dock, trails, bonfires, live music, and a very friendly atmosphere.

The Katy trail runs through the edge of the property, offering quick access to trail walking, hiking, and bicycling.

The general store has many options including a wide variety of food and drinks. It also has a small bicycle repair area set up outside.

I highly recommend the delicious Thai food restaurant on site.

    Prices are very reasonable.

    Cooper’s Landing Campgrounds and Marina

    Mostly Scenery.

I do Not like that the fire pits nearest to the river are 30 inches from a 30ft drop off!  Only 2 people can enjoy the campfire because of that.

Secondly, they do Not provide tables for the campers.  Kinda expensive to Not have tables.

Not a good fishing place because it's a treacherous walk down.

    The evening band was awesome!

Will Not be back because of the above.

    Hanson Hills Campground

    Fun night!

Very relaxed place. Kinda drive in and park anywhere you see a firepit. We had a rooftop tent on the truck and a tent. We camped near the smaller pond. The spot was fine and there wasn’t a ton of tent campers so we had the place to ourselves. The portapotties were gnarly but the toilets/showers behind the office were clean and had hot water. Staff was friendly when we checked in and we bought an armfull of fire wood and they even dropped it off where we parked in their sidebyside but it was damp so we had to scavage some smaller sticks to get the fire hot enough to self sustain. There was a lot of burned cans and some trash in our fire pit when we showed up so we threw it all away before we started our fire. Would stay again but it definitely isn’t a 5 star clean place. Think Ruth from Ozark show.

    Cooper’s Landing Campgrounds and Marina

    Loved it here

Leaving this magical place today. For anyone wanting to stay be aware they have live music Thursday through Sunday. They wrap everything up by 10pm and it’s very quiet late night. This weekend they had special events everyday related to the Katy trail right next to it. You will have water and electric but no sewer and no dump station on site. Plan your length of stay accordingly. In addition to the live music, food trucks come in and there is a cash bar/store with drinks, snacks, firewood and ice. It’s a very small campground and you are not walled off from the general public. If this is your style of camping you will really enjoy this place. Built in the 70’s on the banks of the Missouri River I had an amazing time. It was like being on vacation from my full time vacation lifestyle. I didn’t grocery shop the whole time.

Guide to Jamestown

Campgrounds near Jamestown, Missouri provide varied outdoor recreation options with direct river access at several sites. Located in central Missouri, the area features rolling hills and waterfront camping with typical Midwest seasonal patterns - hot, humid summers and cold winters. Yurt accommodations near Jamestown offer comfortable alternatives to traditional tent camping, particularly along the Missouri River and at recreational areas within an hour's drive.

What to do

Bike the Katy Trail: Cooper's Landing Campgrounds and Marina connects directly to the Katy Trail for easy access. "Katy trail is easy biking beautiful views, shaded. Blue birds, cardinals and also an indigo bunting were seen our first trip out," notes Brenda P. who enjoyed wildlife viewing while cycling from the campground.

Fishing opportunities: Lakeview Park in Mexico features a 15-acre fishing lake ideal for casual anglers. "Nice sites lots of shade, electric on site, priced at ten a nite. 1.4 mile walking trail, 15 acre fishing lake," reports Mike W., highlighting the affordable access to fishing.

Boat rentals and water activities: Military Park Fort Leonard Wood Lake of the Ozarks Recreation Area offers boat rentals for exploring the lake. "Has a large array of boats you can rent. A little difficult to get to it and fairly far from towns but it's worth it," explains Paul S., noting the somewhat remote location.

What campers like

Riverside sunsets: Cooper's Landing campers frequently mention the evening views. "Watched the sunset by the river and it was beautiful. The river is wide and deep here. Current and undertows make it definitely not suitable for swimming. You can see the water swirling and churning," writes Brenda P., providing important water safety context.

Live entertainment: Evening activities at several campgrounds enhance the camping experience. "Very relaxed place... The portapotties were gnarly but the toilets/showers behind the office were clean and had hot water. Staff was friendly when we checked in," reports Blake M. about Hanson Hills Campground.

Food options: Some campgrounds near Jamestown feature food trucks and dining options. "Great food and views! I suggest trying the Thai food, but if you aren't into that they also have BBQ. This is a very relaxing spot and I recommend checking it out," Charlotte B. mentions about Cooper's Landing.

What you should know

Site accessibility varies: Some campgrounds have challenging terrain or tight spaces. "We camped in a 32' Class C for 7 days during the Miss Missouri Pageant. It's a quite little park with maybe 15-20 sites with electric only. There is potable water and sewer dump on site," explains Bert R. about Lakeview Park.

Facility conditions: Bathroom and shower facilities range from basic to well-maintained across different campgrounds. "Tent sites are right on the water, with spectacular views. Free laundry facilities. Clean restrooms with nice shower," notes Kate B. about Military Park Fort Leonard Wood.

Reservation policies: Some campgrounds have informal systems. At Military Park Fort Leonard Wood, "Very relaxed reservation procedure. We called and were told to just show up. They would hold a spot for us. It worked out fine," reports Kate B., describing the casual approach.

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Several campgrounds offer dedicated children's areas. At Lakeview Park, "Play ground was very clean and pavilion had lots of outlets and picnic tables," according to Misty F., making it suitable for families with young children.

Kid-friendly activities: Hanson Hills organizes special events during peak seasons. "This was the best campground. We stayed over the labor day weekend and the campground was full of activities for the kids. There was a live band and karaoke," shares Misty F.

Swimming options: Some campgrounds offer pools as alternatives to lake swimming. "The pool was clean and the grounds were very clean and nice. The pond was a great place to relax and watch the kids reel in fish after fish," notes Misty F. about Hanson Hills Campground.

Tips from RVers

Hookup limitations: Understand power and water restrictions before arriving at yurt camping locations near Jamestown. At McCubbins Point, limited facilities mean coming prepared: "Public boat ramp nice cooking spots," notes Larry M., but mentions no hookups are available.

Site arrangements: Some RV areas lack natural settings. "The only issue is the full hook up area is a big parking lot with no shade! BUT you have great satellite signal!" explains Felicia H. about Military Park Fort Leonard Wood, highlighting the trade-off between amenities and aesthetics.

Access considerations: Roads to some campgrounds can present challenges. "Arrived late, be aware this is a good 5-10 minutes down a dirt road (after a rainy night it was not pretty pulling my trailer back to the highway)," warns Olaf I. about Hanson Hills, providing practical advice for RVers.
