    Mayes Lake

I have not camped at this site due to the location but I have fished the lakes here. The larger horseshoe lake has several piers to fish from and Mayes lake has a lot of under water structure. The Pearl River runs right behind these lakes so there are normally some alligators around. There are RV hook ups available and it does have a nice play ground next to the camping sites. There is another very large playground where the museum of science and children's museum are located. I recommend both of those museums if you have kids. There is a 9 hole golf course which is also a part of the state park.

    Sunset Marina and RV Park

    Great Lakefront Campground

First, I'm not sure why there aren't 100 reviews here.  This campground is on the reservoir, super close to Jackson/Madison/Ridgeland, but still has all the camp amenities that make camping fun.

This campground has two sections - long term and camping.  Long term is more like an RV park, but it is nicely separated from the short-term campground which is truly water front.

This campground also has a nice Marina/Camp Store (and coming restaurant), as well as a nice pool and bathhouse for short-term campers.

Also - as this is a marina as well, there is a full-service marina, boat ramps, and parking slips if you need them!

Altogether, would definitely stay here if coming through Jackson, worth the trip.

    Beautiful campsite by the pond!

Wendy Oaks was the perfect stop on our way down to Florida. Beautiful views, lots of wildlife, super helpful manager, good Wifi, and full hookups. We liked walking by the pond and watching all the birds, as well as swinging on the bench swing. We had a beautiful fire ring and were so happy that it was warm enough to be outside and have dinner around the fire. I do have to say though, that if you are looking for an RV resort with all the bells and whistles you might be disappointed, but if you want a clean, quiet, nature-filled spot, with beautiful views this place is perfect.

Small Diamond in the Rough Campground

We hit the jackpot with this small diamond in the rough campground right outside of Jackson. If you find yourself passing through Jackson, this is an excellent place to stop. This resort is beautiful and peaceful with the friendliness people around. The owner greets every visitor personally, showing you to your site, and making sure you have everything you need for the best stay possible. I can’t say enough about their hospitality. My only regret is not being able to stay longer! This was our second stop on our roadtrip from Dallas to Disney. Read the entire story at ChampagneOnDeck.com

    Nice, clean place to stay

No shade in this side of the park, but no worries. We needed a place to stay for the night and they had an opening with full hook ups. There’s a swimming pool, dog park, and bath house. Not to mention the level concrete pads!

Kids would love the fact that there’s a train caboose on site. Convenient, super easy to find a spot, and the lady in the office is super sweet.

    New facilities

On the shores of Ross Barnett Reservoir where Highway 43 crosses the lake. RV park is tucked behind the marina and boat store and not obvious. Paved roads and concrete slabs. This site is geared towards water sports, boating, fishing and duck hunting. Natchez Trace Parkway is nearby as is Brown’s Landing Park and Trail. Also Pearl River Wildlife Management Area is nearby. New sites are under construction. We were there during rains in January and having the RV on a concrete slab was a plus— the ground was quite soggy. Only problem is that some sewer hook-ups are 12” above ground creating a problem for dumping and drainage.

Guess it used to be nice.

Thankful it was for a night over only. Far too many long termers. I mean when their stinky slinky is replaced with rigid 4" pvc they're not here for the weekend. Nice large level concrete pads with some growies between sites. I got the impression that it used to be a top notch RVPark and now it's going to pot. Not our style at all  It is a run down RV park. Not a campground.

Cell signal was good, but no OTA TV.

    Okay for an overnighter

The staff was excellent and helpful. We stayed for just one night while making our way cross country. The RV park itself was quiet. There was noise from the highway, but not enough to be disturbing. The site itself was fairly bare with little room to put any tables or chairs out. You are very close to any neighbors that occupy the next site. It took more effort than usual to get level but we did achieve that. We would stay here again as an overnighter.

    Peaceful & beautiful!

Such a nice RV Park. We stayed in spot #1 and had a beautiful view of the lake, nice fire pit and picnic table. Our kids and babies loved feeding the ducks and walking around the lake. It was really clean and beautiful. Staff was super helpful and friendly. My only wish was that there was a playground for our kids but they said they have one ordered for this year. :). Can’t wait to stay again!

    Sleepy Hollow RV Park

    Hidden Gem!

We were evacuated to North LA for hurricane Ida. We wanted to find something closer after the storm passed. Found this place in a Google search and called to check availability. We figured we'd be out of luck being that we were trying to book labor day weekend. Luckily, a couple spots were available for us and our friends. As soon as we pulled in Kim greeted us and escorted us to our site, helped us back in, and made sure all of our plugs and hoses were long enough to reach. She even had extras available to lend us if needed. She made sure we were all settled in and everything was good before leaving. We couldn't have been luckier to have found this great little campground! After being cooped up in the camper and leashed outside, we were able to bring all of our pups to the enclosed dog play area that had a great big shade tree to run and run and run. Poop bags and garbage cans were convenient there and throughout the park. They had a nice little pool. Nothing fancy, but just what the kids needed. It wasn't busy in there so they had free reign to wear themselves out(after being cooped up in the campers too). There was a playground area right there between the pool and dog run. Then right next to there was the bath house and laundry room. The restrooms and showers were always clean, and I like that a code was needed to get in, I felt safe going there at night by myself. Since we were evacuating for much longer than we expected, we needed to do laundry too. 4 washers, 4 dryers. We were all so upset since between the 2 campers we had at least 5 or 6 loads of laundry needing to be done(between dogs and sick kids). We asked Kim about it, and the appliance people were there the very next day to fix all of them. She did say they come out once a week to check them all, but I'm sure she had something to do with their quick arrival. The campground is only a few minutes away from the city. There's walmart, walgreens, multiple grocery stores, dollar stores, and so much more. I was even able to bring our pup to a vet'soffice to get his nails clipped. Since we were there for so long we even found specialty coffee shops, nail shops, and an RV supply store all within about a 10 or so minute drive. They also have great wifi! Many of the spots were cement and beautifully leveled. We met a few really great people there, some that were camping, others that were also evacuated, and a couple that were staying there long term for various reasons. We were so lucky to have found Sleepy Hollow to stay when we needed a place most and we can't go back! Thank you Kim for being so gracious and welcoming!

    Great family weekend

Our family of 5 (young kids) stayed for the weekend. A four day weekend would have been perfect. Our site was easy to get into and relatively easy to level. Full hookups. Activities included swimming, splash pad, hiking, disk golf, fishing, kayak rentals, and playgrounds. They are about to close the park for the season to renovate. All the pads are about to be concrete and I think they are fixing some of the space issues(some spots are currently tight to get into). We will be back next year.

    Beware of 2 sewage hookups

We had sites 3,4 and 5. We were assigned site 3. A nice shaded site with full hookups. The first night our breaker kept tripping. We called and a member of the staff fixed it right of way. All good right? No. When we arrived no one told us of the possibility of two sewage hookups and which one should be used. We automatically hooked up to the one on the side by the water and electric. After 3 days there I noticed water puddling. Once again I called the front, nice young man came out. Called his boss and found out we should have hooked up to the one in the center of the pad underneath our travel trailer. So had a hose full of water that we had to unhook and crawl under our trailer to hookup. The day we were to leave while washing dishes we lost water pressure. Called the front again, apparently something went wrong because we saw them hauling pipes to repair it. Needless to say I had to hurry and drain my black and Grey tanks before I had no water. I gave them 3 stars for the attentiveness of their staff. Great time with friends and nice shaded pads. So if you get to your spot and there are 2 sewage use the one in the center of the pad.

    Easy escape

We’ve taken several trips to Roosevelt and each has been quiet, peaceful, easy, and full of things to do. There are some more challenging RV spots to back into but the majority are straight forward with just enough surrounding trees to give some privacy. The lake is nice and the waterfront spots are great. Facilities are clean and located in good spots. The staff is fantastic and helpful. And exploring the national forest or nearby towns is great fun.

    Small, nice campground

We had a group of is that came to Clarkco for Labor Day weekend. It was a medium sized campground d, with good activities.

We parked our skoolie in an RV spot. The non-premium RV spots are a little oddly set up and can seem cramped, but we enjoyed our spot. The lakeside premium spots are where we will park next time. The bathrooms were nice and they also have a laundromat

My husband and friends canoed/kayaked and enjoyed the lake. Not much luck fishing though. We went on a small trail as well.

Camp store is slowly being restored. Not many options, but they are actively trying to add more supplies.

    BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

We stayed for 2 nights in site 83, which is on the lake. Kayaking, boating, swimming, and fishing! Beautiful grounds, nice level site. Some sites weren't as pretty. This one has a view of the lake, very spacious site, and lots of shade trees. I don't recommend the bath house, too many spiders!!! Cabins available, but they didn't appear to be in the best of condition. No store. Pets are welcome.
