    Stuck but not stuck

We pulled into this place the end of August expecting to stay just two nights. Found out trailer tongue was bent and getting it repaired took over three weeks. This park has great owners, kind and understanding. The staff are all great and treat guests very well. They were very accommodating with our situation. The park is clean and well managed, mostly surrounded by large trees that offer great shade with long pull through sites/full hookups available but also a spacious backins. Restrooms and showers are great! Recently updated, always clean, with excellent water pressure. Pool is huge for a KOA and has a long water slide open seasonally. Laundry room is sufficient and as expected. This park has a few long term campers that make great neighbors. The park store offers both necessities and some cute finds. Close enough to see all Meridian has to offer. Okatibbee Lake was one out favorites on the hot days with a swimming beach. I highly recommend whether for a overnight stop or a longer stay.

    Very nice, peaceful park

This is one of those awesome Corps of Engineer Parks that are scattered across the country. We settled in here for a couple of nights and really wished we had more time. Our site was a nice back-in with a great water view. Since we were there in the fall, the park was not even a quarter full so it was very quiet and peaceful. We were going to stay in the nearby town of Meridian but when we found this park is was a no-brainer. It was only three miles off HWY 19 but provided such an awesome place to camp. Campsites have crushed gravel pads and patios (some of which are double in size) and most have a nice amount of shade from the trees. Our site was very large with plenty of room. There are a few pull-thrus but they have a really weird curvature and trees that would make it hard for some large RVs to navigate. The roads in the campground are narrow but most are one-way so that doesn’t really matter and easy enough for us to navigable with our 45’ RV and tow car. All sites are level and have 20/30/50 amp electric that worked well and have a fire pit with bbq grate, separate bbq, lantern crook, and picnic table. Within the campground are pit toilets but about a half mile away at the entrance are showers and a laundry facility. At the end of each campsite are garbage cans so you don’t have to go far to dump your trash. Most all sites have great water views and access in case you want to launch a kayak or canoe.  We decided to pull forward into our site so the view of the lake was directly out our front windshield.  It was perfect!  Our Verizon wifi worked well and got a dozen over the air television channels. There are a couple of small covered picnic shelters with large grills, fire pits, and picnic tables if you want to have a gathering.

A short drive away is Collinsville Park with has a boat launch providing access to Okatibbee Lake. Many people in the campground would launch their boats there and then tie them up on the bank of the campground. There is a small fishing dock in the campground and plenty of bank fishing. The closest town is Collinsville where there is a grocery and some restaurants and you are 25-30 minutes from the larger town of Meridian.

    Bonita Lakes RV Park

    Good cross county 1-night rest

We stayed here to visit our son in the local NAS and has easy access.  The welcome was great (Beverly and Jean!).  They let us have our pick of the spots in the park and even offered their golf cart to use instead of walking … thank you! There are two areas to the park really (large gravel parking lot area to allow big rigs to pull through easily … and … smaller back in for more private stays.  We chose the parking lot corner because we would be there only for a couple of nights. The road noise was loud, so next time we would stay in the more private area.  Our spot had plenty of space, easy back in, easy hook up (full), and level. WiFi worked good. Right across the street is the local lake that you can walk around and get good exercise in however it was raining for us so we drove it instead … just beautiful.  If you have a one night or a large right … this is a good place!

Total hidden gem and must stay

We planned on a 2 to 3 nights and stayed 5 … :).  We were at another local site and was looking for a more quite type of place so we could spend time as a family, so I called over to this place and was overwhelmed by the welcome.  It was late and dark and both owners (Steve and Patty) took my wife and I on a walk through their park with flashlights to show what we could pick from … I have never heard of such fantastic hospitality.  They just purchased the park a few months earlier and have upgraded so much it was almost new.  We eventually settled on two sites they said were rarely used because they were in the far back (#26 and #27) and remote.

The next day when we showed up to set up, they had their team already clear the sites and prep for our arrival.  One of their team members helped us set up and ensure we were fully ready to enjoy our stay.  The site was level and elec/water hook ups.  Overall, the site as secluded, quite, private. We woke up to trees all around us and only one RV long term person that we never saw many feet away.

We were told they would come by with a 'honey pot' and empty our tanks so we didn't have to move since we were staying long enough to fill them with normal use … WOW, I didn't have to hook up and move just to dump!  They did shared with us and show their portable dump tank they use when they camp … I may pick on up.

The park had new dog runs, wonderful store, excellent help, and easy dump stations.  I was concerned because of the location of the spot being at the bottom of a hill, and the owners told us not to worry … if we were not able to pull out, he would for us and didn't make us feel bad at all.  The slide was down for the winter, but it was fine.

The park is well off the beaten path so it is quite at night. Enjoyed the late night fires and early morning mists … My son was able to relax for the weekend away from the base.

    Clarkco State Park Campground

    Clarkco State Park

Great stay! Beautiful park with many amenities. Have premium sites with 50/30 amp sewer and water. Have lake front sites, pavilions, cabins, and “glamping” tent sites. There is also two roped off swimming areas in lake, playgrounds, and boat ramp. Facilities are well maintained. Very impressed and will stay again.

    The Best Campground Staff Ever!!!!

It is very easy to drive your rig in this park. I have read some reviews where people talk about the drive into the part as being horrible. When you leave I 20, you drive down a county road. It is the typical width of a county road. So just slow down and it is no problem. We drive a 44’ fifth wheel with a dually truck. Some sites have concrete(not in the best shape) and some have gravel pads. There are many trees but the park keeps them trim away from the roads. It was great to have shade. There is full hookup pull thru sites along with some back in sites. There are plenty of areas to walk your dogs along with a nice enclosed dog park. There are many activities for children– a large sandbox, pool, a water slide, playground, tether ball and a game room. This park is about 2 miles off I 20. It is very quiet. There are a few long timers but primary people stopping for one night Each night it is full and then empty by noon the next day. We were there for several months and paid$525 for the month. This included electricity. When we originally arrived, our plan was to stay one month to visit family. But due to some health issues with ourselves and our family, we ended up staying for over 6 months. The best part of this park is the staff. Each staff is friendly, welcoming and will do anything possible to make our staff so wonderful. The staff take meticulous care of the park including picking up daily all the cigarette butts that people think they can just leave on the ground. Due to their service, they get a lot of repeat customer visits.

    Sleepy Hollow RV Park

    Hidden Gem!

We were evacuated to North LA for hurricane Ida. We wanted to find something closer after the storm passed. Found this place in a Google search and called to check availability. We figured we'd be out of luck being that we were trying to book labor day weekend. Luckily, a couple spots were available for us and our friends. As soon as we pulled in Kim greeted us and escorted us to our site, helped us back in, and made sure all of our plugs and hoses were long enough to reach. She even had extras available to lend us if needed. She made sure we were all settled in and everything was good before leaving. We couldn't have been luckier to have found this great little campground! After being cooped up in the camper and leashed outside, we were able to bring all of our pups to the enclosed dog play area that had a great big shade tree to run and run and run. Poop bags and garbage cans were convenient there and throughout the park. They had a nice little pool. Nothing fancy, but just what the kids needed. It wasn't busy in there so they had free reign to wear themselves out(after being cooped up in the campers too). There was a playground area right there between the pool and dog run. Then right next to there was the bath house and laundry room. The restrooms and showers were always clean, and I like that a code was needed to get in, I felt safe going there at night by myself. Since we were evacuating for much longer than we expected, we needed to do laundry too. 4 washers, 4 dryers. We were all so upset since between the 2 campers we had at least 5 or 6 loads of laundry needing to be done(between dogs and sick kids). We asked Kim about it, and the appliance people were there the very next day to fix all of them. She did say they come out once a week to check them all, but I'm sure she had something to do with their quick arrival. The campground is only a few minutes away from the city. There's walmart, walgreens, multiple grocery stores, dollar stores, and so much more. I was even able to bring our pup to a vet'soffice to get his nails clipped. Since we were there for so long we even found specialty coffee shops, nail shops, and an RV supply store all within about a 10 or so minute drive. They also have great wifi! Many of the spots were cement and beautifully leveled. We met a few really great people there, some that were camping, others that were also evacuated, and a couple that were staying there long term for various reasons. We were so lucky to have found Sleepy Hollow to stay when we needed a place most and we can't go back! Thank you Kim for being so gracious and welcoming!
