Hoeft State Park Campground

Park itself in a great location. Lake close and bike path nearby. The lake is a hike, and the campground is poorly laid out. Getting to restrooms from outer ring requires walk around. The is a shortcut from middle road to them just not from outer. Campground roads and parking at sites is gravel, hence the SFCG vibe.

Not many campers for July. The sites are small and right on top of each other so I’m glad the campground isn’t crowded. The fire pit is full of garbage from the previous campers so we didn’t make a fire the first night. First time here.

We have a 25’ Class A motorhome and spent 2 days in July at Hoeft StatePark. We had camped here several years ago and decided to revisit. It was great then and just as great now. The site we had (54) was a perfect combo of sun and shade. The park itself is clean and park personnel very upbeat and helpful

Visit Hoeft every year for group camping weekend. Perfect weather, nice spacing of sites, great access to the beach. Site 33 is not a favorite. Quite small, backed up to poison ivy and quite close to a neighbor site.

I enjoyed this campsite. Maybe it was because of it being a Sunday night, but it didn’t feel very crowded and was fairly quiet. It’s close to the water (just a short walk over the dunes so you can’t actually see the lake from your site.) I had electric and the bathrooms had showers, though they definitely could use an update. The only thing that could have made this place better was if they allowed dogs on the beach! I was traveling alone and would have loved to have walked the beach with my pup.

Really nice location on beautiful Lake Huron. They have a really nice beach and swimming area. It is close to Rogers City shops, a really cool lighthouse a few miles away, and Ocqueoc Falls is 15 - 20 minutes away. Visiting the falls was one of the coolest parts of this trip. You can actually swim in them. We had probably the biggest site in the campground. It was what they called an eyebrow site, which basically means a pull-thru on an angle. We had a lot of space on the site and because our awning faced away from the road we had a lot of privacy. This was by far the best state park we’ve stayed at to date.

Wasn't sure ehat it would be like. But sure glad I found this beauty. Amazing beach, plenty of trees, our site was perfect for us. Did some bike riding. Saw the beautiful stone & log pavillion. Only down fall was the newer more modern bathroom was closed due to "shortage of staff". We will come back often spring and fall!

Park wasn't full when we were there June 12-18th. Was quiet. Beach was nice, sandy, clean water

This campground is a must do. Electric site campground with a short walk to the beach on Lake Huron. One of few campgrounds you can view both sunrise over Lake Huron and sunset from the beach. Showers and flush toilets. Great biking and hiking trails. Really nice day use area with pavilion. Mini cabin and Sears Roebuck house for rent for those wanting more comforts. One of MI State Parks original campgrounds but well taken care of. Would have given it 5 stars except for the extremely rude Ranger on check in. I’ve never encountered this level of rudeness anywhere- I’d suggest he find another career. Other rangers were great. Rogers City, 40 Mile Lighthouse and waterfall all within easy drive from campground. Does have nice water tank filling station and dump station. Does not have water nor sewer hookups at sites.

We enjoyed our stay at this State Park. There’s lots of trees on each of the sites, it’s about a 50/50 split on the level vs not so level sites. They are average in size with a few really big ones. The park is one of the oldest State Parks so the bathroom facilities are dated but very clean with the showers being very dated and not so clean. The park itself is well maintained. It’s a short walk from the campground to Lake Huron, the beach is great and another short walk will being you to the day use area, again very well maintain. We will be going back to this campground, it was very relaxing, a quite place to spend some time

This campground was redone to make sites more organized and bigger. The bathrooms seem to be older still, but were clean! The location is amazing, they are right on lake Huron which was beautiful and clean. It's a short drive to Ocqueoc waterfall which is why we went. The waterfall is worth a trip, and the only public waterfall in the lower peninsula of MI. Loved Roger's city downtown and cute shops. Also many hiking trails in the woods surrounding the park that connect to the campgrounds. Highly recommend!

We did camp on the weekend when it opened up after quarantine, so I get that the campground was going to be busy. The sites look large on the map and they are pretty good, but if you are on the interior or “straightaway” of the loop they are pretty tight without a lot of tree barriers and it was loud in the campground past midnight. The end sites looked more private for sure.

The location itself is nice. It’s a short walk to Lake Huron, and a nice bike ride to Rogers city or the light house. Very beautiful shoreline!

I don’t know why this campground isn’t more popular! The sites are big and secluded. We were there during a holiday weekend and it was calm and quiet. It is very close to Huron Sunrise bike trail so it is a popular biking spot. It has a beautiful Lake Huron beach which was pretty deserted when we were there. I highly recommend Hoeft to anyone who will listen to me!

Make reservations early! This is a beautiful state park with the best of pure Michigan woods and Lake Huron sandy dunes and beaches . Very family and pet friendly but also quiet and peaceful for couples who just wanna get away . Only drawback is low signal cell service but hey getting off the grid is what’s its all about. Unplug and recharge yourself.  Electric hook up availability  20/30 amp . Hiking and biking paths , a cute play ground , sandy beach with volleyball area all walking distance from campsites!  Friendly staff , we love this park !

Beautiful area clean camp ground

Located on Michigan’s sunrise side, Hoeft State Park offers a unite getaway for tent campers and RV campers alike. Many trees for hammocking! Short trek across sandy dunes brings you to the beach of Lake Huron. Shallow in parts for the kids but deep enough to snorkel for pudding stones. Rock hounds will slight in the fossil, Petoskeys and puddings along the shoreline. Excellent paved bike trail takes you to town or north to the lighthouse. Campground has excellent activities for the kids. Firewood for ale. Currently updating the electric and bathhouses.

This location is the definition of family friendly. The playscape, the dunes, the lake, all are easily accessible and centrally located. The staff are wonderfully engaging, and the sites and facilities are well maintained. If you don't want to fight the peak season crowds, plan a weekday trip and enjoy the seclusion!

Beautiful setting. there are tons of trails through beautiful deep woods that lead out to various points along the lake. great paved bike paths to Rogers City and up north. Campsites under #50 are beautiful & heavily canopied. campsite # above that tend to be set closer to noisy local highway and more open, grassy sites. this place is a little gem. lucked out with virtually no mosquitoes but think it’s been a dry summer here. lots of poison ivy, as usual up here.

Very clean and nice campground o. Lake Huron. Clean bathrooms. Some of the sites are not as deep as others. The lower numbered sites are closer to beach access. Great activities for kids, nice bike paths and hiking trails. Close to the only Falls in lower Michigan that are a must see!

Hoeft State park is absolutely beautiful. camp registration is quick and easy. they have a beautiful beach and sand dunes! clean facilities.
