Secluded and quiet lake

The way out here was quite the adventure. The forest roads gradually got smaller as we kept driving. Recent rain left muddy areas to be traversed. Trucks and equipment are working here too but on the weekend all was quiet. Cell service disappeared so download the map first.

Campground is peaceful and pleasant. Large sites are spread apart giving nice privacy. Vault toilets are available but may not be maintained daily. My suggestion would be to get one of the sites that are lakeside. Some have a better view and some have access to launch your kayak. One camper stayed the night before we arrived so the entire camp was empty. On the way out we took a shorter way and saw a dispersed camper. Then locals homes showed up still spread out along the forest road.

The road in was narrow so I’m not sure about large RVs. However it is perfect for smaller setups. If you venture here, just watch for the weather conditions. There were signs that it runs over the road in numerous places. We also found a decent supply of flies here too.

Perfect (minus the bugs)

We went there last year in mid June. Secluded deep in the woods. Plenty of campsites to choose from. And each site is pretty private from the next site. We choose a beach front site perfect to launch the kayaks. The only thing that overwhelmed us was the mosquitos! We last two days and moved on. Next time we will be a little better prepared!

My First Time at Bob Lake

This campground feels very secluded in the woods. You have many spots to choose from right on the lake or further into the woods. They have a few outhouses, picnic tables, large fire pits and ours even had a clothes line. That's about all the accommodations you will find. We had a great time here. We found a spot with our own little beach front and got to watch the fireflies at night. The only problem we had were the mosquito's! Bring your bug spray!

Very private & green along the lake

This is a small simple campground with lovely lakeside tent sites among rather dense trees. If you walk east you’ll find a sandy beach to splash in. You can also find a long nature trail and a connection to the interstate North Country Trail. Excellent birding, including sandhill cranes, and wildlife. Pit toilets and seasonal water is provided. There are no reservations but you should be able to get a spot year-round.
