    Land-O-Pines Family Campground

    Pleasant campground

Land-O-Pines is a nice private RV park near Folsom and Covington. We stayed two nights because my daughter was in a horse competition at a nearby horse farm. The sites are mostly shady. The streets and sites are gravel and can get a little muddy in spots after a rain. The park was clean and quiet, and the staff was friendly. About half the sites are for permanent users.

Stayed in pull-through campsite C69 which was shady and level. It was a gravel site. There was enough parking for my 34 ft TT and truck. Neighbors are nearby by not on top of you. The site included: picnic table on gravel, no fire ring. Utilities: 20/50A electric near the middle. The 20A receptacle looked like it had some minor burn marks. Water next to power pole, good pressure. Sewer near power pole with 4 non screw-on fitting.

AT&T had 2 bars of LTE and Verizon full bars of LTE service. AT&T Speedtest: 30.8 Mbps down, 3.6 Mbps up. Verizon Speedtest: 4.5 Mbps down, 11.8 Mbps up. WiFi available, but did not use. Required a login.

Would stay here again. We camped at Land-O-Pines Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

    Tickfaw State Park Campground

    Primitive trip

Have visited twice. First visit, my original campsite was flooded and was able to switch to another site. Last trip was good but site 35 is very close to 33. The fire rings are within 30 feet of each other and can hear other campers talk, however the primitive sites were nice. They have about 4-5 trails, a splashpad, nature center and you can rent a canoe. Had alot of fun and is pet friendly.

New Orleans RV Resort & Marina

Nice park, but a little overpriced

Pontchartrain Landing is nice RV park. We had a great weekday stay in late December and the weather was nice. Its not far from downtown New Orleans. When you first get off the Interstate, the area looks abandoned and a little sketchy, but it is ok. Apple Maps guided me right to the park. There is a restaurant and bar, but we didnt eat there. I enjoyed walking and sitting along the water in the mornings. The occasional noise from airplanes taking off from nearby Lakefront Airport was a small detraction. Playground was not much.   Place is fenced at gated for added security.

Stayed in waterfront campsite#21, but view was partially blocked by houseboats.  Pretty disappointed for $89/night.  Back-in site with gravel parking and a picnic table. No BBQ pit or fire ring. 15A/30A/50A, water, sewer, and cable TV hookups. Site was pretty level. Awning faced north so we had some shade from the sun. There was a flower bed with palm trees between the sites. Not much shade in the park. The site is located on the water. Neighbor was at least 20 ft. Away. Roads in the park were gravel creating some dust. Both AT&T and Verizon had good signal(3 bars each). AT&T Speedtest= 26.8 Mbps down, x 6.5 Mbps up. Free Wi-Fi is available at the office/restaurant and paid available it the sites. Did not use the Wi-Fi.

Overall, not impressed for the price, but would stay here again. We camped at New Orleans RV Resort& Marina in a Travel Trailer.

    New Orleans West KOA

    Tight spaces, good location

The spaces are a bit tight, only RV spots have a fire pit. Showers are well kept but the place smells musty. The location can’t be beat and the employees are great. Very safe area and convenient shopping places nearby. Short drive to downtown. Good Wi-Fi, good laundry and dish cleaning area. Would stay again but I wish the small camper area would be more spaced out and have fire pits or grills. Nice little playground and the pool looked good as well.

    Indian Creek Campground

    BEAUTIFUL, BUT CROWDED

We stayed here knowing that it would be full. Well, it was crowded and loud! Kids riding golf carts everywhere. Still we had a nice stay at 30 dollars a night! Ice machine, picnic table, playground, hiking trails, kayaking and fire pits. Our site # 57 needed 2 blocks to level.

    Tickfaw State Park Campground

True Louisiana atmosphere, fun for every age!

Every time we visit this park (which is a lot) we are able to have a new and fun adventure!

When my children were very young. This was one of the first places in the area to have a splash park for my children to run and play while staying cool in the south Louisiana heat.

Move up a few years, Tickfaw has provided myself and children with hours of fun, safe and informative hikes along the well maintained boardwalks through South Louisiana swamps.

As my children have grown we have still been able to explore the park further by utilizing the campgrounds! The tent camping section has defined/ private tent sites with picnic tables, and parking next to each site. The Rv park also boost a fun and family atmosphere, with fishing ponds, bike riding, canoeing, and primitive hiking. All with clean and air conditioned restroom facilities easily accessible to all sites.

    Tickfaw State Park Campground

    Great little park

Tickfaw State Park is a Louisiana State Park located just outside of Springfield, LA.  The park is not very large, but big enough not to constantly run into people.  On this visit, we took our Christmas pictures along the “Cypress Gum Trial” - a boardwalk walk trail located across the street from the campsites and around the playground(s).  There is a nice covered area with picnic tables.  There are 2 camping loops - (1) for tents and (1) for RV’s.  Our site, #37 on the tent loop, we had enough space as well as privacy.  We went the weekend after Thanksgiving and the park was not overcrowded and the weather was perfect.  I did find the boardwalk trail was VERY slippery covered in wet leaves.

    Fontainebleau State Park Campground

    Great stop for NOLA sightseeing

This state park is really pretty, full of lush Spanish moss trees, hiking trails, and historic markers.(although finding out this was a plantation for 150 slaves was unpleasant).

It’s only 45 mins to New Orleans so it’s a great place to stop, drop, and sightsee for the day.

It had full hook ups available. Free WiFi even. The spots are level and concrete... and nicely spaced. There are picnic tables and grills available for use too.

Careful - when it rains, it floods.

    Fontainebleau State Park Campground

Excellent state park near Mandeville, LA.

Traveled in 44 foot motorhome and Jeep toad, this site, first one in new section did not require me to unhook. Although my site only had water and 50 A, there are other sites that are back in with full hook ups and cement pads. Picnic table and fire pits are available. I also saw a few deer roaming around.

What You Should Know

Road conditions: Access roads to some cabin rentals may present challenges. Regarding New Orleans RV Resort & Marina, Alex N. warns, "The biggest drawbacks are the drive up... The amenities are top notch, the sites are great. The price is a premium, but it's legit."

Environmental factors: The region's swampy terrain means wildlife encounters are common. "Had a couple of snakes show up creeping under our camper. After that I just couldn't enjoy it, lol. Nice trails where we saw a couple of alligators," reports Cat R. about Tickfaw State Park.

Seasonal pricing fluctuations: Cabin rental costs vary considerably based on season and events. "They charge $69 per night, which is far too expensive for my budget. Could be holiday pricing but not sure since requested dates fall after New Years," notes Katherine D.

Noise considerations: Some locations experience noise from nearby transportation routes. "It's noisy. Traffic, trains, airplanes and construction noise, you've got it all here. Bring earplugs if your tent camping," advises Jim H., while another guest mentioned, "The traffic on the main road was very loud throughout the night, even with a large privacy fence."

Tips for Camping with Families

Water features for hot weather: Cabin locations with water activities help manage the Louisiana heat. "The beach is lovely and the water felt great. There is also a splash pad," notes Gregg G., while another visitor mentioned, "The pools are nice it has a nice splash pad a big jump pad open all the time."

Tips from RVers

Site selection guidance: When booking cabins near Kenner, research specific site configurations. "Be careful booking a pull thru site if your unit is over 25', they're horseshoe shaped. We could not fit on a pull thru site, and Betty at the entrance was awesome and found us the perfect back-in site," advises Martha S.

Drainage considerations: The low-lying geography means water management issues during rainy periods. "It had poured a few days before we went and had to switch sites three times before getting one that was even remotely dry," shares Taylor C.

Proximity advantages: Cabin locations serve as convenient bases for exploring the wider region. "It was a good base to work from, about 25 minutes from the downtown museums and convenient to places like Destrehan Plantation and Bayou Segnette State Park. There are plenty of good restaurants and shops in the area, too," notes Art Z.

Connectivity options: Internet access varies between locations. "The Verizon service was good and there is free WiFi," reports one camper, while another mentioned, "We had 2 bars on Verizon. They actually have a laundry room with 3 washers and dryers costing both $1.75 to wash & dry."
