Several RV parks surround Jackson, Louisiana, providing convenient options for motorhome travelers. Shelby J's RV Park, located just north of Jackson, offers reservable sites for RVs with hookups. Nearby, Peaceful Pines RV Park in St. Francisville provides year-round access with 50 amp electrical service, water hookups, and sewer connections specifically designed for RV camping. The park accommodates big rigs and includes picnic tables at each site. Bayou Creek RV Park sits closer to Jackson's western edge, while Maxey Care RV Park in Morganza (about 20 miles west) features full hookup sites with 50 amp service, water, and sewer connections. "We have stayed here almost two weeks while downsizing to a smaller home. This place is very well maintained... There are a few pull through sites but the back-ins have the better views," noted one RV camper about Lakeside RV Park, which offers concrete pads with 30 and 50 amp options.

Most RV parks in the Jackson area maintain year-round availability, though reservations are recommended during peak travel seasons. Dump stations are available at most locations, with Peaceful Pines, Maxey Care, and Lakeside all providing on-site sanitary dump facilities. Cell service varies throughout the region, with stronger signals typically available at parks closer to major highways. Pet-friendly policies are standard at RV campgrounds near Jackson, with designated pet areas at some locations. Lakeside RV Park maintains particularly clean facilities according to visitor reviews, with laundry areas featuring newer machines. Some parks enforce strict speed limits (5 mph at Lakeside) to ensure safety. For RVers requiring propane, several parks offer on-site sales or can direct travelers to nearby suppliers. Verizon and AT&T coverage is generally adequate for basic connectivity needs throughout the area.

    Lakeside RV Park

    Lakeside RV

We have stayed here almost two weeks while downsizing to a smaller home. This place is very well maintained, and the pool and playground areas are in excellent condition. We did not use the showers/ bathrooms but the laundry area was in clean and machines seemed new. The grounds were well manicured, there is a large pond/small lake with a walking path around half of it. There are a few pull through site but the back-Ins have the better views. They have 30 & 50 amp, water and sewer connections. Fairly level and long concrete pads. They are strict about the 5mph speed limit and thankfully so.

    Clear Springs Recreation Area

    Nice family campground

$20, $13 with fed pass. 22 sites. Electric & water hookups. Dump station. Two campground loops - B: Sites 1-12, & A: Sites 13-22. Loop A is prettier that Loop B, but Loop B has more level sites which may be more suitable for larger campers. Camped at site 7 in a camper van. Large site backed against the woods with access to a hiking trail. Not much privacy between sites. Nice family campground. Sites have table, lantern post & fire ring. Picnic Area also in this rec area. Beautiful setting by the lake. Restroom/shower house needs some work. Mens shower stalls have standing water in them - possible drainage issue. Women's toilet stalls also have a similar issue due to a leaky toilet. Bugs were not too bad here in April. No AT&T & T-Mobile service at our campsite, but picked up a weak signal by the lake.

    Farr Park RV Camground

One of the better RV parks in BR Area

One of the better RV parks in the BR area (there's not many close to town).  Has electric and water hookups, but no sewer hookup.  The Mississippi River is nearby. There is a paved bike path on top of the river levee that you can ride all the way to downtown Baton Rouge.  It is only 3 miles from LSU campus.  Some people stay here to tailgate for LSU football games.

Farr Park is part of the Baton Rouge Parks and Recreation system.  It is also an equestrian (horse) center.  There are stables and riding arenas near the campground.

There is a dump station available.  The dump station connection for your sewer hose is at a 45 degree angle and a bit above ground level.  This creates sags in your hose.  Also, there is no way to secure or screw in your connection to the sump station.  The station does have a concrete pad and non-potable water.  You can use the dump station for free if you are a camper.  Non-campers can pay a $10 fee to dump.

    Farr Park RV Camground

    Spacious with Horse Views

This campground is so romantic with coral sunsets and country vibes. Spots are spacious and not crowded so you can spread out. Great paths for walking. Its hot but the bugs are not overwhelming. Close to the college and downtown. Perfect views of the horses I could watch them all day. 30/50 amp electric, water, pull through sites. No sewage but there is a dump station to empty on way out.  Bathrooms have restrooms and showers available. 8/10.

    Baton Rouge KOA

Exactly what you need when visiting Baton Rouge!

We have stayed here for 4 consecutive years for the Louisiana Marathon weekend in January and couldn’t ask for a better home base for one of our favorite race weekends.

They offer regular pull thru spots with both 30 and 50 amp full hook ups and deluxe with a fire ring and patio space. The campground and bath house are kept clean and there is even a dog park for your furry camping friends.

    Farr Park RV Camground

    Great location

Stayed Thu-Sun on an LSU football game weekend. Didn’t see anyone at the office- but spaces are well marked for finding the reserved spot. We were in B6- so no real shade- in the late afternoon the only decent shade is on row E. We had good cell signal and were able to stream.

When we arrived there were very few campers- but the park got a lot more visitors by late Friday. It was still pretty quiet throughout the stay. Many of the “campers” were large class A or Fifth wheels, but there were a few smaller units like ours (17 ft. TT). The spaces are grass which was obviously recently mowed and the driveway is white gravel/rock. We used the back trail to get to the levee to ride our e bikes and went on about a 30 mile ride south past L’Auberge, and then we went on another 10 mile ride north toward the capital. The bike paths are in good condition and there are a good number of walkers/runners/bicyclists/and scooters using the paths. I checked out the bath house and it was clean and well maintained. There were 4 (ladies) showers and 3 stalls. There are multiple spaces for campers to dump, although we needed to use the front spots due to height. We decided to get an early start on Sunday morning and were at the dump station before 8- only one other unit arrived when we were finishing up- there wasn’t a line to wait in for us. We will definitely return to Farr for another game weekend. We really enjoyed our stay.

    Clear Springs Recreation Area

    Beautiful remote location

Located close to Vicksburg, Ms. and on a small man made lake. The area is hilly and has some great hiking trails. The bathrooms are small but do have a shower. Not a lot of room for large RV's so check with them. Water and electric available as well as a dump station.

    Percy Quin State Park Campground

Nice park, campground roads are narrow

Percy Quinn is a nice state park on a lake. We had a great weekend stay, and the weather was awesome, a little chilly in the mornings, but otherwise great.

Bathrooms were clean reasonably clean. There was some damage in the one I used. Amenities include a fishing pier and boat launch near the campground. The playground and swimming pool are at the day use area which is a decent drive on the other side of the park. Be sure and hike the nature trail at the north end of the park. Part of the trail is a boardwalk through the swamp(but one section is in disrepair).

Stayed in campsite#6 which is on the lake. Back-in site with asphalt parking. The picnic table has concrete around it, but there is a 2 foot gap of dirt between the asphalt parking and the concrete. There is no BBQ pit or fire ring. 15A/30A/50A, water, and sewer hookups. Site was level side to side and had a slight slope front to back. Awning faced east so we didnt get the evening sun shining underneath. The spot is relatively shaded. Nearest neighbor was at least 20 ft. Away. Roads in the park were asphalt. Campground roads were narrow and there were no signs at intersections in the campground indicting which loop to take for which campsite numbers.

Both AT&T and Verizon had weak signal(2 bars each) and slow data. No WiFi in park. Would stay here again. We camped at Percy Quin State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Clear Springs Lake Rec Area NF Campground

    Well kept secret

This is a US Forest Service campground in the Homochitto Forest. The campground host doesn’t want the secret getting out. S/he jokingly told me “now don’t you go posting on social media” how much you love this place. But I do love this place. It’s definitely off the beaten track but worth the drive. It’s a great campground nestled in the woods. Some of the campsites border part of the lake and more are wooded. We stayed in the wooded area. Our campsite had a pretty picnic area with a wooden rail all around it and wooden steps down from the campsite to the picnic/grill area. There is a loop hiking trail around the lake and a longer mountain bike/hiking trail. The nearest town is Natchez, Mississippi so make sure stock up before you go to the campground. The campsites are mixed use RV/tent sites with water and electricity. They also have a dump station for RVs. There are two bathhouses with hot showers and flush toilets. I have AT&T and had trouble getting a cell signal to make phone calls except when I was up by the bathhouse. They accept the America the Beautiful pass discounts.

Guide to Jackson

RV camping near Jackson, Louisiana offers convenient options along highways 61 and 10, with most sites situated on level terrain at elevations under 200 feet. The region experiences humid subtropical climate with mild winters where overnight temperatures rarely drop below freezing. Campgrounds in this area typically maintain year-round availability due to the moderate weather conditions, though summer humidity levels regularly exceed 80%.

What to do

Fishing access: Several RV parks near Jackson provide fishing opportunities in stocked ponds or nearby waterways. At Lakeside RV Park, "There is a large pond/small lake with a walking path around half of it," according to Richard L. The park even features a swan on the lake.

Plantation tours: Use your campsite as a base for exploring historic sites. From Shelby J's RV Park, campers can easily access nearby plantations. As one visitor noted, "Wanted to tour southern plantations there in St Francisville, Louisiana. Amanda was very nice and helpful. $34.04/night."

Cycling trails: The Mississippi River levee provides excellent biking opportunities near Jackson. At Farr Park RV Campground, "There is a paved bike path on top of the river levee that you can ride all the way to downtown Baton Rouge. It is only 3 miles from LSU campus," according to David B. Bike rental services are available seasonally in several nearby towns.

What campers like

Concrete pads: Many Jackson-area campgrounds feature level concrete pads that RVers appreciate. Walt W. noted about Lakeside RV Park, "Really nice park very well maintained. Exceptionally maintained. All concrete sites and a beautiful lake."

Family amenities: Campgrounds in the region often include kid-friendly facilities. Casey L. highlighted, "We loved the playground that was covered which allowed us to play with our kids in the heat of the day and even with rain. They also had a pool that was very clean and nice laundry on premises."

LSU game access: Football fans appreciate Farr Park RV Campground during LSU season. "Stayed here recently while attending an LSU football game. They have a shuttle that provides round trips to the stadium," explains Chris P. The park fills quickly during home games, so advance reservations are essential.

What you should know

Hookup configurations: Most RV parks offer full hookups, but connections vary by location. At Farr Park RV Campground, "There is a dump station available. The dump station connection for your sewer hose is at a 45 degree angle and a bit above ground level. This creates sags in your hose."

Traffic noise: Some campgrounds experience road noise despite visual barriers. Casey L. noted, "If I had to list a drawback, the traffic on the main road was very loud throughout the night, even with a large privacy fence."

Site spacing: RV parks vary in how closely they position units. At Lakeside RV Park, "We booked a pull through and the length of the site is fantastic but the width is rather narrow so your neighbor's hookups are in your grass area," according to Brittany V.

Tips for camping with families

Covered play areas: Look for parks with shaded playgrounds for summer camping. At Lakeside RV Park, "The playground & pool look like real fun for potentially large #s of kiddos. I also noticed a game room and other large indoor & covered outdoor spaces obviously designed for some good sized gatherings," notes Sara H.

Recreational options: Some parks offer multiple activities on-site. At Natalabany Creek Campground, "This park has lots of things to keep the kiddo's occupied. There is a HUGE pond for catch and release fish (no swimming or boating). There is an arcade room, swimming pool, putt putt golf, and a really great creek behind the cabins."

School-year considerations: During academic months, many parks primarily house long-term residents. Casey L. observed at Lakeside RV Resort, "You can definitely tell that the majority of people here are full-time residents. They only have one portion of the park that is available for short stays."

Tips from RVers

Speed restrictions: Campgrounds enforce different driving rules. Richard L. mentioned, "They are strict about the 5mph speed limit and thankfully so."

Internet connectivity: Wi-Fi quality varies significantly between parks. Brittany V. reported, "Wi-Fi is nonexistent but the antenna gets a few channels so it balances out."

Budget option: For RVers seeking economical options, Maxey Care RV Park provides basic services at lower rates. "We paid $34 for a night with 30amp hookup and water. They have 50amp as well. There are bathrooms with showers and coin laundry," according to Jamie C., though they noted, "It's a little muddy in the sites. Easy accessibility, right off Hwy 1. Trains come through the night."
