Natalabany Creek Campground and RV Park

      RV'S AND CABINS ONLY

This campground is for RV's and Cabin rentals only. This park has lots of things to keep the kiddo's occupied. There is a HUGE pond for catch and release fish (no swimming or boating). There is an arcade room, swimming pool, putt putt golf, and a really great creek behind the cabins. This sites are spacious with water, electric, and sewer. This is the kind of place to stay at while exploring the local area(s). Very clean park, very nice staff. The cabins are so cute, comfy and sleep 8. Also a great place for bike riding (road, not mountain). The location is just off of the Interstate with easy access.

This is definitely a vacation type park. No roughing it here.

      Bogue Chitto State Park Campground

      Spot 124 is great!

We stayed at site 124 in “Bottomland” and we loved it. New “deck” with room for a rug, fire pit, and chairs. The deck also has a picnic table with a fire pit just off the edge. There’s a creek that ran behind the spot that kept my husband busy. The only downside is that the water and electricity plug are pretty far from your camper- you may need to pack your extender.

      Great little place!

I’ve stayed here a few times with a friend that has a membership. Once in my camper once in the cabins. Both times were great. Cabins are more private along the pond. The camper spot I had was typical. Staff was very nice, great campground area to walk and enjoy. Community area was very clean and staff very friendly. Visit the nearby abita springs cafe for great breakfasts and of course the brewery for good beer. Cute little town area and farmers market very close.

      Tickfaw State Park Campground

      Primitive trip

Have visited twice. First visit, my original campsite was flooded and was able to switch to another site. Last trip was good but site 35 is very close to 33. The fire rings are within 30 feet of each other and can hear other campers talk, however the primitive sites were nice. They have about 4-5 trails, a splashpad, nature center and you can rent a canoe. Had alot of fun and is pet friendly.

      Land-O-Pines Family Campground

      Pleasant campground

Land-O-Pines is a nice private RV park near Folsom and Covington. We stayed two nights because my daughter was in a horse competition at a nearby horse farm. The sites are mostly shady. The streets and sites are gravel and can get a little muddy in spots after a rain. The park was clean and quiet, and the staff was friendly. About half the sites are for permanent users.

Stayed in pull-through campsite C69 which was shady and level. It was a gravel site. There was enough parking for my 34 ft TT and truck. Neighbors are nearby by not on top of you. The site included: picnic table on gravel, no fire ring. Utilities: 20/50A electric near the middle. The 20A receptacle looked like it had some minor burn marks. Water next to power pole, good pressure. Sewer near power pole with 4 non screw-on fitting.

AT&T had 2 bars of LTE and Verizon full bars of LTE service. AT&T Speedtest: 30.8 Mbps down, 3.6 Mbps up. Verizon Speedtest: 4.5 Mbps down, 11.8 Mbps up. WiFi available, but did not use. Required a login.

Would stay here again. We camped at Land-O-Pines Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

New Orleans RV Resort & Marina

Nice park, but a little overpriced

Pontchartrain Landing is nice RV park. We had a great weekday stay in late December and the weather was nice. Its not far from downtown New Orleans. When you first get off the Interstate, the area looks abandoned and a little sketchy, but it is ok. Apple Maps guided me right to the park. There is a restaurant and bar, but we didnt eat there. I enjoyed walking and sitting along the water in the mornings. The occasional noise from airplanes taking off from nearby Lakefront Airport was a small detraction. Playground was not much.   Place is fenced at gated for added security.

Stayed in waterfront campsite#21, but view was partially blocked by houseboats.  Pretty disappointed for $89/night.  Back-in site with gravel parking and a picnic table. No BBQ pit or fire ring. 15A/30A/50A, water, sewer, and cable TV hookups. Site was pretty level. Awning faced north so we had some shade from the sun. There was a flower bed with palm trees between the sites. Not much shade in the park. The site is located on the water. Neighbor was at least 20 ft. Away. Roads in the park were gravel creating some dust. Both AT&T and Verizon had good signal(3 bars each). AT&T Speedtest= 26.8 Mbps down, x 6.5 Mbps up. Free Wi-Fi is available at the office/restaurant and paid available it the sites. Did not use the Wi-Fi.

Overall, not impressed for the price, but would stay here again. We camped at New Orleans RV Resort& Marina in a Travel Trailer.

      Bogue Chitto State Park Campground

      ‘Bout That Bogue Chitto

We visited Bogue Chitto after torrential rains pummeled Louisiana and Mississippi causing the park to cancel our site we had reserved with a water view in the Bottomland Loop. This really ended up being a blessing in disguise. We were forced to just pick a site when we arrived at the park (not so great for this OCD-Teacher-Planner-Mom), but after only one drive around the Upland Loop, we decided on site 2 and were not disappointed! The site backed up to a trail, and the driver side of the trailer faced a wooded area (instead of a neighboring site) which afforded us much more privacy than any of the other sites would have. Sites 9, 14, and 46 also looked nice with their awnings facing trees instead of other campsites. All sites in this loop had sewer hook ups, so that was nice. There was a concrete pad underneath the fire ring with a lifting grill, a separate grill by the wooden picnic table, and a lantern post. There was a big tent pad close to the fire ring as well.

We thoroughly enjoyed all of the hiking and biking opportunities this campground afforded us. Although the Bottomland area was closed for camping, we still checked things out for future visits. Given the choice between the two loops in the future, I think I’d choose site 2 again. Camp hosts were visible and kept the campground very clean. During our visit, there was a Dutch Oven competition, so the campground was packed.

We only were able to stay here for two nights and left wishing we could have stayed much longer! We will definitely visit Bogue Chitto State Park again.

      New Orleans West KOA

      Tight spaces, good location

The spaces are a bit tight, only RV spots have a fire pit. Showers are well kept but the place smells musty. The location can’t be beat and the employees are great. Very safe area and convenient shopping places nearby. Short drive to downtown. Good Wi-Fi, good laundry and dish cleaning area. Would stay again but I wish the small camper area would be more spaced out and have fire pits or grills. Nice little playground and the pool looked good as well.

    Guide to Abita Springs

Cabin accommodations near Abita Springs range in design from basic to premium units within a 30-mile radius. The region's subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild winters makes cabin camping accessible throughout the year, though humidity levels peak from June through September. Most cabins provide protection from the area's abundant wildlife, including raccoons that frequent many of the surrounding campgrounds.

    What to do

Water activities: Fontainebleau State Park offers access to Lake Pontchartrain with swimming options during summer months. "The beach is lovely and the water felt great. There is also a splash pad," notes Gregg G. Water activities are available at multiple locations, with many families appreciating the natural water features.

Wildlife viewing: Bogue Chitto State Park provides opportunities to observe local fauna in their natural habitat. "We saw plenty of wildlife such as turkey, deer, rabbits, turtles, alligators and birds," according to Tiffany M. The park maintains signage warning visitors not to interact with wildlife, particularly alligators.

Cycling opportunities: Several parks near Abita Springs feature dedicated cycling paths. Fontainebleau State Park has "Great paved bike trail that you can get to from the campground," reports Martha S. Bike rentals are not universally available, so bringing personal equipment is recommended.

    What campers like

Privacy options: Abita Springs RV Resort offers secluded cabin locations. "Cabins are more private along the pond," observes Alanna R., who also noted the cleanliness of community areas. Most cabins here are positioned to maximize separation from neighboring units.

Water access: Multiple parks feature cabins with water views or access. At Land-O-Pines Family Campground, "Awesome creek that the kids have a blast in," according to Nicole R. Water proximity varies by specific cabin location within each property.

Seasonal events: Hidden Oaks Family Campground offers special seasonal activities. "They already have Christmas decorations up, a train ride ready and more!" notes Robert M. Halloween celebrations are particularly popular at several parks with organized activities for families.

    What you should know

Accessibility challenges: Not all cabin facilities accommodate mobility devices. At Abita Springs RV Resort, one guest reported: "I could only give them 4 of 5 stars because of challenges using my electric mobility wheelchair... The roads are full of loose rocks where my chair got stuck 2x on the way to the clubhouse."

Weather impacts: Seasonal conditions affect cabin camping experiences. "It had poured a few days before we went and had to switch sites three times before getting one that was even remotely dry," reports Taylor C. about their stay at Fontainebleau State Park.

Wildlife awareness: Land-O-Pines Family Campground and surrounding areas require attention to local wildlife. "A family of raccoons must have been fed by someone, though, as they had NO fear nor qualms of coming right up to our table one evening!" warns Michael B. Most parks recommend secure food storage.

    Tips for camping with families

Water features for children: Multiple parks offer dedicated water activities. At Bogue Chitto State Park, "The grandkids loved the splash pad/water slide and easy access to the river," reports Therese A. Water activities are typically seasonal with varying hours.

Holiday programming: Fireside RV Resort and other parks offer special event weekends. "Great place to chill in water while camping during the summer!" notes Michele P. Holiday weekends typically require advance reservations, often months ahead.

Budget considerations: Cabin costs vary significantly by location and amenities. "I would give it a better review except it's 50$ a night for a tent," notes Robert H. about Land-O-Pines Family Campground. Cabin accommodations typically start at $65-85 per night with higher rates during peak seasons.

    Tips from RVers

Site selection: When booking near Abita Springs, research specific site characteristics. At Fontainebleau State Park, "Don't let the road in past some industrial and manufacturing warehouses fool you. This is a great spot to stop," advises Jeff M. Site maps often don't fully convey important features like drainage ditches.

Seasonal planning: Hot summer months make water access important. "We picked a deluxe waterside plot which was opposite one of the spare moored up river steam boats," shares Steve J. about his stay at New Orleans RV Resort & Marina. Booking waterfront sites typically requires 3-6 months advance planning.

Utility connections: Cabin utilities vary widely between properties. "Some sites are a little too close together while others have plenty of green space," notes Sandy P. about Fireside RV Resort. Most cabin rentals include basic electricity with varying kitchen and bathroom facilities.
