"They are concrete spots with grass areas around each spot. It is nice to walk the dogs, and I found a place behind truck parking to walk them off leash."

    Goodland KOA

Comfortable safe stay near Interstate 70

Context:  I would not rate this campground 4 stars for destination camping, but I would like folks to know it is a great stop-over.  Typical trusted KOA cleanliness and quality.  Full hookups, some shade and nice grounds for kids and pets.  Friendly staff, wifi was good enough for online school; 4g cell coverage, cable too if you are set up in your rig.  Good health protocols during CV19.  Clean bathrooms and sites.  Camp grills, but no fire pits (it can be windy, but this campground's layout offers some blocking particularly to the south end).  After crossing Kansas from east to west, this is a great stop-over.  Also, if leaving Colorado late traveling west to east, same benefit.

    Goodland KOA

    Older KOA-Big Rig Spots

This is an old KOA with new concrete patios. You have to swing wide to pull in and there is a tight straight spot where you stop to register but doable for my Motorhome. Basic RV park with full hookups with level gravel lots. Pull through spot # 61 accommodated my motorhome and tow, which is 67 feet long. Checking was quick and the attendant was very nice.

    Goodland KOA

    Cute, clean, friendly, and easy!

Super easy off I70 with little to no road noise. Friendly staff, we were escorted to our spot. Concrete patio and gravel pads that were mostly level. Very clean and quiet, shower house was exceptionally clean. Great camp store. Just overall very pleasant over nighter. Would definitely stay again!

    Goodland KOA

    On the road again...

This KOA has full hookups and nice level sites. The park is also super conveniently located to the interstate, so it’s the perfect place to pull off for the night.

The park does have a cute playground complete with old farm equipment and a small pool. The grass is all well kept and the bathrooms were very clean.

The town of Goodland is not known as a tourist attraction by any means but they are hiding a secret there, and it resides within walking distance of the KOA. Take your camera and venture around the block from the campground to a quaint park with giant ( over 20 foot tall) easel. Atop that easel sits an equally oversized rendition of the Vangogh sunflower painting- fitting for Kansas.

So, if you missed the giant ball of twine further up the highway- be sure you check out what has to be the largest art piece in the lower 48!

    Goodland KOA

Perfect for a night or two

This campground has everything you need for a night or two to take a break from the road. Laundry, pool, full hookups. Ray, the owner, is very friendly. Easy walk to Main St, museums, parks and tourist attractions. Easy on/off I-70. A turn or two is kinda tight in the campground, but certainly manageable in our 38ft Class A with tow car attached.

Painted Rock RV Park and Campground

Nice amenities but not for us

We thought we would be leaving Denver in the mid-afternoon headed east so this campground would have been a good place to stop for the night. Since some private campgrounds have closed their restrooms during Covid, I called ahead to make sure they would be open here. The woman answering the phone was very friendly and helpful and assured me they would be open. We ended up leaving Denver earlier than planned and arrived here around 3 pm; only three sites were occupied, and no one was in the office.

The campground is located about 4 miles down a navigable dirt road south of I-70. I had between one and two bars of Verizon, somewhat surprising as we were pretty much in the middle of nowhere.

There was a nice playground (along with a tetherball pole and horseshoes) and clubhouse with a full kitchen plus a grill outside, fireplace, pool table, and ping pong table, and WiFi. The television was on, but no one was around– just a little creepy. Laundry and vending on-site. There was also what appeared to be some kind of aviary. We did end up talking with a family staying there who told us the rate was $38 and all sites were full hookup. Three pull-thru sites and the rest are back-in. Some space but no separation between the sites and no discernable driveways.

Discounts: Good Sam, Passport America, over 65, military and LE.

All in all, this campground offers some nice amenities but would be better suited to people traveling in an RV. I’m glad we did not commit to staying here and decided to burn some more daylight and continue our journey down the road.

    Goodland KOA

    Basic, but a good stop

Was a good stop along I70. Easy in and out, though roads in campground can be tight for large rigs.. Staff was nice. Most people stay 1 night. Cable TV worked well. Go see large Van Gough easel nearby
