Lake Lincoln Campground — Lincoln State Park

    Very nice State Park

Very nice state park campground with electric, (50 on some, 30 on some), and water hookups. Two clean shower houses. Two dump stations. Lake for swimming, fishing, canoe, paddle boat and Jon boat rentals. Hiking trails and fire tower. Typical camp store on site. Gas station with propane about a mile from the camp ground. Has primitive sites and cabin rentals also. The park has a large outdoor covered amphitheater with several concerts throughout the season. Most sites are pretty level. There are a few that are not. The majority of the sites have at least partial shade. Weekends are usually booked up in advance. Through the week is no problem getting your choice of sites. Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial is adjacent to the State park. It has a living farm. Both are free. Admission to the state park is $7.00 per vehicle or a Indiana State Park annual pass for $50.00 gets you into any Indiana state park anytime for the year. You can book through reserveamerica.com or calling the park directly.

    Great Family Fun and Adventure

Such a wonderful family oriented campground with excellent amenities. Pets are allowed and the sites are gravel or concrete. Relax at the pool, enjoy mini golf, playing at the game room, mining for gems, or shooting some hoops. There is also a shuttle that will take you to Holiday World. Don’t have an RV? Not an issue, choose a cabin, cottage, or stay in one of the rental RVs. They offer restrooms, showers, heat, kitchens and a lot more.

Lake Lincoln Campground — Lincoln State Park

Nice weekend getaway, close to Holiday World!

We enjoyed our stay here. Very pet friendly. Nice, clean bath houses for a state park. Our spot was super sloped; our tongue was almost on the ground and we still weren’t completely level, thankfully we didn’t notice it while we were in the camper. Not much shade in several spots either so definitely plan to bring a canopy tent or something for shade outside of just your awning. But overall a nice little place to park it for the weekend. Can’t wait for Holiday World to open for the summer so we can book another stay here and make a 10 minute drive instead of a 1 hour drive with 2 toddlers.

Lake Lincoln Campground — Lincoln State Park

    Very nice!

Lincoln State Park in Southern Indiana. About as far South as you can go! (In Indiana!). We did a weekend visit.

150 electric sites. There's 30 & 50 Amp sites with water at each site!

6 handicap sites. There are NO pull through sites.

The best sites are by Lake Lincoln- 40 & 41. 39 is ok, but all 3 of these sites are in the sun most of the day. Also, 40 & 41 are not ON the lake. Trail 1 & a wide grassy area are before the water. The only advantage IMO is an unobstructed view of the water & a short walk to the lake.

The sites seemed short, but people were able to park very large rigs in them. Check the site dimensions before booking or call the office to make sure you'll fit.

There's a large primitive campground. They have a modern bath house with showers. Some cabins.

There's 2 bath houses in the electric side with flush toilets & showers. Very clean for a state park!

      A double dump station.

6 trails from easy to moderate. The longest is 3.7 miles.

Boating & fishing are popular, but electric motor only. There's boat rental.

There's a beach, but closed after Labor Day. The camp store is in the pavilion by the beach & has limited hours after Labor Day.

      There's a small nature center.

Lots of history in the park & in the area. Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial is directly across the road from the state park

. Santa Claus Indiana& Holiday World are nearby.

    Fun for the Family!

Very clean campground, with a great family vibe to it! I used to camp here when I was a kid, and it’s still just as wonderful as I remember.

The staff are incredibly helpful. There are options for all kinds of campers: RVs, tents, cabins. If you aren’t going next door to Holiday World, they have a decent size pool and slides, as well as an arcade and playground. There is a camp store as well as a pizza place located in the center of the campground.

For the camper who enjoys to be farther from their nearest neighbor, this place may not be for you. While campsites are spacious, you can see and hear your neighboring campers. :)

Go primitive if you want privacy

We’ve camped there as a large group and as a family several times. There’s a beach for swimming and a shower house. The RV sites are kinda cramped. We prefer the primitive sites on the other side of the lake. Literally just a picnic table and fire pit. There’s pit toilets nearby.

Hoosier National Forest South Slope Loop Campground

    Glam ping in the woods

South Slope Loop At Hoosier National Forest is located second campground in on your way to Celina lake. This is the RV friendly campground with electrical hookups for your toys. You give up some privacy and quiet to have your electric as the sites are closer together and of course your neighbor may not be as courteous with the noise said electronics create.

There is excellent tree cover and you do have some tree block between sites. A nice large newer showerhouse, water points, picnic tables and fire rings to finish off the homeyness.

All of the hosts that i interacted with were very friendly and went out of their way to assist when they could. The local Ranger Station is located in Tell City and closed on the weekend.

We spent our time hiking on the Interpretive Trail (1mi)near Celina Lake and Two Rivers Trail (15 mi) which encompasses both Celina and Indian Lake . You can disperse camp for $5 a night as long as you are 300 ft from the trail. And take your bug spray or you may be nothing but a dried out husk by the end of your visit, ticks are horrible right now!

We spent time at the lake also. Very peaceful, electric motors only so no waves or tubers flying by. There is a small handicap accessible fishing pier adjacent the parking area. A nice area to visit.

Guide to Newburgh

Cabin rentals near Newburgh, Indiana provide comfortable accommodations within a 30-mile radius of the Ohio River town. Most rental cabins in this region sit on wooded lots with proximity to recreational lakes and trail systems. Winter temperatures typically range from 25-40°F, while summer months see averages between 70-90°F with moderate humidity, affecting cabin comfort and activities.

What to do

Fishing access: Scales Lake Park offers a small trolling-only lake adjacent to cabin accommodations. "Peaceful and quiet with a small trolling only lake and swimming area," notes Andi W., highlighting the serene fishing environment within walking distance of rental cabins.

Hiking trails: The trail system near rental cabins provides various difficulty levels and terrain types. "Scales Lake is kept clean and has nice trails for those who enjoy hiking," explains Todd S., emphasizing the well-maintained paths accessible from cabin areas.

Swimming options: Several cabin rental locations provide swimming facilities during summer months. At John James Audubon State Park Campground, cabin guests have access to "a gorgeous lake" as Jamie B. notes, providing water recreation without leaving the property.

What campers like

Privacy levels: Primitive cabin options tend to offer more seclusion than RV-adjacent units. Laura D. recommends: "We prefer the primitive sites on the other side of the lake. Literally just a picnic table and fire pit. There's pit toilets nearby." This setup provides a more isolated cabin camping experience away from more developed campground areas.

Family amenities: Warrick County Park Scales Lake Park offers additional family activities beyond standard cabin features. "There was a free petting zoo which was great," mentions Fox S., describing an unexpected amenity that complements cabin accommodations.

Cleanliness standards: Bathroom facilities near cabin rentals receive regular maintenance. One camper at Miles Landing Campground states, "The bathrooms were probably the cleanest, nicest shower houses I've seen at a campground," indicating the quality of facilities available to cabin guests.

What you should know

Seasonal availability: Most cabin rentals maintain limited operational schedules during winter months. Camp stores and amenities often close after Labor Day or maintain reduced hours. As one camper notes, "The camp store is in the pavilion by the beach & has limited hours after Labor Day."

Reservation requirements: Securing cabin accommodations requires advance planning. At Harmonie State Park Campground, popular weekend dates fill quickly, particularly themed weekends. "We missed reserving the weekend they have the campground trick or treating, which was the weekend before... Apparently that weekend has to be reserved the day reservations open for it," advises Nichole M.

Cell service limitations: Connectivity varies significantly between rental cabin locations. "Very little cell phone signal," notes one reviewer about cabins in more remote settings, suggesting visitors prepare for potential communication challenges.

Tips for camping with families

Entertainment options: Multiple playgrounds provide recreation for younger visitors staying in cabins. Jessica D. states there are "two playgrounds, little petting zoo for kids. Beach area with small fee" at one cabin location, offering diversions within walking distance of accommodations.

Educational opportunities: Lake Lincoln Campground — Lincoln State Park provides historical context alongside cabin accommodations. "Lots of history in the park & in the area. Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial is directly across the road from the state park," explains Cynthia K., highlighting educational experiences near rental units.

Wildlife awareness: Cabin renters should secure food items properly. "Our only problem was 1 or more raccoons kept coming into our site. We shooed them away but they kept coming back," reports Barbie G., describing a common wildlife encounter at cabin sites.

Tips from RVers

Site spacing considerations: When selecting cabin accommodations near RV areas, understand spacing limitations. Dan H. observes at one location, "The pull through sites are nice, but they were pretty close together. (Nothing like sitting under your awning and looking at your neighbor's sewer pipe.)"

Access challenges: Some cabin rental areas have restricted road access. One reviewer cautions, "The streets in the town are extremely narrow, making it hard to get into the park," indicating potential access difficulties for larger vehicles transporting cabin supplies.

Utility connections: Sun Outdoors Lake Rudolph provides consistent utility connections for deluxe cabin rentals. "All of the equipment was clean and well-kept," notes Jenni W., referencing the reliability of utilities for cabin accommodations.
