Fall events: Special Halloween festivities draw many seasonal visitors. "We stayed the weekend before Halloween. They had a trunk or treat in the pool parking lot and although there weren't a ton of vehicles, it was definitely enough for the kids to have fun trick or treating," explains Nichole M.

Spacious sites: Miles Landing Campground offers full hookup sites with ample room between neighbors. "The sites were very spacious and far enough apart that you had room to spread out. The bathrooms were probably the cleanest, nicest shower houses I've seen at a campground," reports Jacinda L.
Fishing opportunities: Several ponds and lakes throughout the area provide excellent fishing. "Fairly new with great access to fishing. Bike riding enjoying nature. Several pull through sites and all are full hook up," mentions Wendy T. about Miles Landing Campground.
Privacy between sites: Campers consistently mention the separation between sites as a positive feature. "Most campsites are big and spacious, with several loops that allow campers to face one another," shares Olivia S., discussing Harmonie State Park Campground.
What you should know
Cell service limitations: Some areas have poor connectivity. "It is located back in the hills, far off the highway. Very little cell phone signal. Very relaxing and enjoyable," notes Olivia S. about Harmonie State Park.
Bathroom facilities: Pine Ridge at Pounds Hollow Recreation Area features rustic but clean bathrooms. "Vault style restrooms are very clean and regularly maintained," reports Brian E.
Seasonal operational changes: Certain amenities only operate during peak months. "They have a nature center that is open Thursday-Sunday in the summer," points out Olivia S.

Animal encounters: Unique wildlife viewing opportunities exist at several parks. "There is a boat ramp. They also have a youth tent area that is primitive, and day use horse trails," mentions Olivia S.
Educational opportunities: "The camp has so much to do for kids and adults. Hiking, mountain bike trails along with pump track for kids, a small petting zoo, and a beautiful lake front for swimming with water slide and diving boards," shares Jennifer T. about Scales Lake Park.

Campsite selection: Cave-in-Rock State Park offers varied site options but requires planning. "The sites are decent size. It can be a bit of a walk to the bathroom. It does have a restaurant and small store on site," advises Chris Y.
Hookup availability: Electric-only hookups are standard at many area campgrounds with dump stations available. "No full hookups but there is a dump station," notes Dave C. about Harmonie State Park.
Ferry access: Some glamping options near New Harmony require ferry crossings. "If you are coming from the south you will have to take the ferry across the river. Sometimes there is a pretty good wait," warns Chris Y. about accessing Cave-in-Rock State Park.
