Best RV Parks & Resorts near Young Harris, GA

CAMPER SUMMARY PRESENTED BYFord

RV parks near Young Harris provide multiple options for motorhome travelers. Sundowner RV Village maintains spacious sites with full hookups, 50-amp service, and accommodations for larger rigs. Approximately 20 miles west, Valley River RV Resort features concrete pads with asphalt driveways and upscale amenities including a clubhouse and private fishing pond. Rivers Edge RV Park II accommodates RVs with electric, sewer, and water connections, though big rigs may find navigation challenging in some areas. Peachtree Cove RV Park maintains 26 sites with both 30-amp and 50-amp service options, firewood availability, and sanitary dump facilities. "The sights are level and well spaced, and the creek is charming. The only drawback we've found is the traffic noise, but this is a narrow valley in the Great Smokies so it can't be helped."

Many mountain RV parks require advance planning during peak fall foliage season when availability becomes limited. Several parks remain open year-round, including Sundowner RV Village and Rivers Edge Mountain RV Resort. Navigation to certain properties involves mountain roads with elevation changes and occasional steep grades—Unicoi State Park specifically notes a substantial incline to reach its campground area. Pet policies vary between locations, with most allowing pets but implementing specific restrictions. Cell service fluctuates throughout the region, with stronger signals at lower elevations and in proximity to towns. Laundry facilities are limited at smaller properties but typically available at larger resorts. During summer months, shade availability becomes an important consideration, as one visitor noted about Rivers Edge Mountain RV Resort: "Most sites did not have much shade, keep that in mind if booking a stay here during the hot months."

    Cades Cove Campground

    Quite, beautiful, weekend traffic

This is one of the quietest campgrounds I’ve stayed at. Sites are nestled in the woods in a cove in the Smokies. No cell service. No internet. No cable tv. Just peace and quiet! This is a national park campgrounds, so no water, electric or hookups. There is a dump station and modern bathrooms. Cold water showers. There is a camp store with basics. There is a lot of traffic especially on weekends with visitors driving the scenic Cades Cove Loop Road.

    Persimmon Creek RV Park

    Convenient access with comfortable amenities!

Let me start out by saying this was our first campground for our travel trailer.  I don't have a huge point of reference, but I can give you details on everything that was smooth

    • Location - Just off a 4 lane highway.  Convenient with easy access to your site.  Plenty of room to back in to your spot.  There were limited "pull-through" sites.  During the day you can hear highway traffic, but at night that road gets little traffic so it is quiet.
    • The owners are great!  This is a mom & pop operation but you can tell they put their heart into this place.  Both are friendly and accomodating
    • Sites are very spacious.  Our spot was freshly mowed, had a picnic table, fire pit, electric & water hookups.  We had a small stream behind and a pond in front of us.   The site we occupied had trees between our neighbors.  Just enough privacy to not worry if someone was looking in your windows.
    • While I didn't use their public restrooms, my wife said they were VERY VERY clean.  She worked in a hospital for a long time, so if she says they are clean, they are clean.  There were showers available but we did not use them.
    • They have firewood for $5 a bundle.  They encourage you to not bring firewood from other places in order to help prevent bug/disease spread (very common nowadays)
    • Two ponds for fishing.  One was closed till the weather is cooler.  I'm guessing they stock it with trout.
    • LOTS of hiking trails within a short drive.  We visited the Ocoee River and Copper Basin TN.  Easy day trip for hiking, biking, rafting, breweries, restaurants, etc.

We will definitely visit this spot again.  It's about an hour and 15 minutes from our house but feels like we are further.  Very convenient and worth it for $30 per night. $30 was the RV rate, check their website for the most up to date pricing.

    Tallulah Gorge State Park Campground

    Incredible place to hike

Took my boys after studying the 7 Natural wonders of GA and this gorge is one of them. Did not disappoint. The hike to the bottom is not for the faint of heart. And the steps back up will challenge the most fit among us. But the views and experience is well worth the pain. Campground while being big rig friendly is a little tight ( we have a 42ft motorhome). If your large try to book sites 34 or 35 pull through. No sewers, but easy to use dump station next to the exit. Make sure you add this stop to your Must see list

    Talking Rock Motorcoach Resort

Spacious Luxury Resort with Stunning Mountain Views

This brand-new luxury RV resort doesn't disappoint. A large, spacious site, big rig friendly, with full hookups and stunning mountain views, creates a serene and peaceful park. Located in the heart of wineries, biking and hiking trails, and a multitude of things to see and do, not to mention an abundance of places to eat and shop, all close by. The park features a beautiful clubhouse, perfect for groups or individuals looking to socialize, chat, or participate in activities sponsored by the resort. Live music on the weekends and other social events, several pickleball courts, a nice pool and hot tub, on-site laundry, and more round out the amenities in the resort.

Moved to site 47(Pull-Thru) but due to road slope pull-thru is un-usable. Lower numbered sites(less than 30) appear somewhat better. Empty camp ground host side byhind 47 cannot be used unless site 47 is emprty due to sloping road. One single use dump station. One campground host presently in the park- their site was not marked. Appears that most sites are back-in and set sideways to a hillside and lakefront leaving very little level space for chairs. Fire rings are frequently located 12-20 feet away from picnic table and 3 to 9 feet below site level on a slope. Reservation Software used by office was down upon Saturday arrival with no IT help until Monday- two days away leaving office staff frustrated and using their own phone to access the reservation system customers use instead of management side of software. Staff stated it goes down frequently with no IT support on weekends. Six bathhouses in park. Bathhouse nearest beach closed awaiting replacement of fixtures after renovation. Shower has outdated fixtures- several shower heads had significant mineral deposits restricting flow. Men's side closed at another bathhouse. Many shower stalls had no hook or fixture to hang a towel or clothing. Several showers had broken shower valves making them unusable. Stayed 9 nights and did not see anyone working on bathhouses. Beach area parking is limited to 6 or 7 spaces and one handicap space however, there is a larger parking lot a little further away. Bathhouse showers have a pull string valve next to the shower head that had to be held down to get water with many strings broken, missing and too short to allow shorter people, children, or handicaped wheel-chair use. Some sites have precarious/dangerous sloping driveways for RVs to get into. Newly installed sites are near completion but they make sites very close together. Many sites do not have a fire pit and many do not have a grill. Many sites arer too small to park a second vhicle even if the camper is small. Parking on dirt or grass is prohibited by rules but appears to be selectively enforced. The campground has a boat ramp and reasonably large parking area. Extra careful site selection is warranted. Four docks in River Forks Park. Firewood is available at the office. CHECK-IN: 01:00 PM CHECK-OUT: 12:00 PM RIG: 42ft- 17,000 lb 5th Wheel"

    Don Carter State Park Campground

Love the view from our site 13

Really nice state park located at north end of Lake Lanier. Site 13 was great. Had woods and lake view. Paved pull through site with gravel pad for picnic and fire pit area. Plenty of room for camper, cars and boat trailer. Bathroom facilities were extremely clean, well lighted, no spiders or bugs, etc. Enjoyed fishing and kayaking. Nice beach and swim area, boat docks and 2 boat launch sites, playground, etc. Saw lots of deer and enjoyed walking some of the trails. Will plan a trip in cooler weather fall or spring. Camp hosts were helpful and visitor center staff were very nice. Great cell service too.

    Don Carter State Park Campground

Nice state park close to Atlanta

This park is one of the newest in the GA state system and it shows based on how new the facilities look. The we camped at site 10 of the walk-in camp sites. There was one bathroom facility with flush toilets, but no showers. It looked like one could use the beach showers, but they were still close for winter. Site 10 was a nice spot with a decent distance from other sites. We were there at the beginning of spring. Once the tree coverage grows back in the site would be more secluded. There are many miles of hiking trails that are interconnected so one can make the a long challenging hike if so inclined. Overall this park was a nice basic state park, but seemed to be more of a day use park for locals than a destination park like many of the other GA state parks.

    Talona Ridge RV Resort

One of the Better RV Resorts Out There

As our Brinkley G3500 is 13’ 8” high, we routed to miss a 13’ 7” bridge on a small portion of US-76 just off of US-411. Instead of taking the left turn onto US-76, we stayed on US-411 down to GA-136. We had followed the RV Life navigation, which routed us this way to avoid the low bridge. We were the first official check in for the Brinkley rally arriving around noon. We checked in and were escorted to pull through site H-48 with FHUs in the bottom Hawk level of this large campground (CG). The pull throughs in this part of the CG were plenty long enough for our 40’ toy hauler and F450 to include being able to put the patio down. The utilities are at the middle of the pad so you can adjust according to your needs. The water pressure was good at around 50 psi. From talking to other campers in this area, some had lower water pressure and took their regulators off. There are not a lot of mature trees so satellite was not a problem. We got 4 bars on Verizon and the CG WiFi was above average for a park of this size. We were near their nice sized dog park that has separate areas for large and small dogs. Their Welcome Center with a gift shop is very nice and they have super friendly customer service. There are a lot of amenities here such as pool(soon to be a second pool for kids), pickleball, propane, laundry, and curbside trash pickup. The owners of Talona Ridge continue to take inputs from RVers on how to improve the CG. There’s a plan to expand RV sites across the street primarily for smaller rigs. This was our second rally at this location and we would definitely come back for another rally or on our own.

    Pines RV Park and Cabins

    Old School Gem

This small family run campground reminds me of the camp grounds I visited with my grandfather. Lou meets you at the office and guides you to your campsite and politely offers to guide you in. We used his help and he guided us in to an inch of the cement pad for our front porch. Hook ups are old but well maintained. The campground has tent to big rig spots and about a third of the sites are filled with year round or seasonal campers. Tent sites are near the small stream running behind the grounds. Clean bathhouse, rec-room with pool table and two cabins to rent. Overall a great location with easy access to Franklin NC for food and breweries. AT and Bartram trail access nearby, lake and river are close. I would give it a try no matter how you camp.

Tips from RVers

Height clearance: Carefully check overhead lines at certain RV parks Young Harris area travelers visit. Geoff Y. cautions about Peachtree Cove: "I have a 43' 5th wheel and was assigned to spot 17, a pull through site. Length wise I fit with room to spare. However I am 13'6" in height and there is a cable/power line over this site and site 16 that hangs a bit too low and my AC unit got acquainted with it."

Shade availability: Many RV sites lack natural shade. Hines states about Rivers Edge Mountain RV Resort: "Most sites did not have much shade, keep that in mind if booking a stay here during the hot months."

Site types: Different site classifications affect pricing and amenities. Nicole-Marie B. shares about Willow Valley: "Large sites. VERY reasonable rates. Best owners you could possibly ask for. Great restrooms and laundry room. Best internet anywhere around."
