What you should know
Seasonal popularity: Weekends and summer months bring larger crowds. "Very crowded weekends, great weekdays. The weekend nights were so crowded with cars spilling into the camp roads, loads of large groups at each site. Felt very claustrophobic. On weekdays the park became a lovely ghost town," reports a camper at Hard Labor Creek.
Alcohol policies: Some parks strictly enforce no-alcohol rules. At Shady Grove Campground, "The ranger was telling us full grown adults that we had to throw away all of our alcohol. He demanded that we empty our wine bottle and growlers." Know each park's regulations before arriving.
