    One with Nature Glamp Camp

    Awesome Getaway in the City

This is a cute eclectic glamping ground that has a lot of character. There are 2 bell tents in the area. One setup with a king bed and the other a twin bed. The amenities are mind blowing…….top tier linens, mobile power units, lighting, movie projector, movie speaker and yes a wood burning stove in your tent. There is an outdoor shower, port-a-potties and sanitary wipes to handle business. Their indoor bathroom facility is under construction. This place is awesome! Get in before the prices go up☝️

Hard Labor Creek State Park Campground

    Stunning Cabin!

Nicest state park cabin I’ve never stayed in! The furnishings were beautiful and the screened porch was amazing. I really appreciated that the bedding and towels were plush and extremely comfortable-very unlike most state parks or other rental cabins. It was also impeccably clean, AND the bathrooms had handcrafted local soaps!

As a side note, my husband is a wheelchair user and this was the most accessible vacation rental we’ve ever encountered (and we travel a lot). The picnic table had a seat cutout, the fire pit and grill were on a level surface, and the kitchen sink was roll under! 10/10 thank you HLC for the thoughtful attention to accessibility.

Moved to site 47(Pull-Thru) but due to road slope pull-thru is un-usable. Lower numbered sites(less than 30) appear somewhat better. Empty camp ground host side byhind 47 cannot be used unless site 47 is emprty due to sloping road. One single use dump station. One campground host presently in the park- their site was not marked. Appears that most sites are back-in and set sideways to a hillside and lakefront leaving very little level space for chairs. Fire rings are frequently located 12-20 feet away from picnic table and 3 to 9 feet below site level on a slope. Reservation Software used by office was down upon Saturday arrival with no IT help until Monday- two days away leaving office staff frustrated and using their own phone to access the reservation system customers use instead of management side of software. Staff stated it goes down frequently with no IT support on weekends. Six bathhouses in park. Bathhouse nearest beach closed awaiting replacement of fixtures after renovation. Shower has outdated fixtures- several shower heads had significant mineral deposits restricting flow. Men's side closed at another bathhouse. Many shower stalls had no hook or fixture to hang a towel or clothing. Several showers had broken shower valves making them unusable. Stayed 9 nights and did not see anyone working on bathhouses. Beach area parking is limited to 6 or 7 spaces and one handicap space however, there is a larger parking lot a little further away. Bathhouse showers have a pull string valve next to the shower head that had to be held down to get water with many strings broken, missing and too short to allow shorter people, children, or handicaped wheel-chair use. Some sites have precarious/dangerous sloping driveways for RVs to get into. Newly installed sites are near completion but they make sites very close together. Many sites do not have a fire pit and many do not have a grill. Many sites arer too small to park a second vhicle even if the camper is small. Parking on dirt or grass is prohibited by rules but appears to be selectively enforced. The campground has a boat ramp and reasonably large parking area. Extra careful site selection is warranted. Four docks in River Forks Park. Firewood is available at the office. CHECK-IN: 01:00 PM CHECK-OUT: 12:00 PM RIG: 42ft- 17,000 lb 5th Wheel"

    Stone Mountain Park Campground

    Extraordinary Attractions

Stone Mountain hardly needs another glowing review, but it is a pleasure to stay there. First, everything is contained and available. The views of the lake, and, yes, the mountain are gorgeous. There is a nice spacious check-in store. Your trash is picked up constantly from your site. Each site has a deck, a grill with a propane tank already attached, a picnic table, and a fire pit, electric and sewer hook ups. The sites are close together, but the decks are pretty private. If you bike, hike, run or like trails, boating and fishing, all are right there. It helps to have a car/truck, as the place is pretty immense, but my neighbors had a Class C and were throughly enjoying mountain biking to everything. Another neighbor with a gorgeous Class A was driving his towed truck to a neighboring Petco. There is everything. Deer roam in the morning and at night, and if golf is your sport of choice, Stone Mountain has a highly rated public course. The staff is very friendly. I liked the purple area near the playground and pool. The sites seemed a little more private. It’s not cheap, and I don’t know what discounts might be available. But, if you’re in or around Atlanta, this is the place to go. It will NOT disappoint.

    Clark Creek South Campground

    Great view of the Lake

The campsite was right next to the swimming beach so little to no privacy and very loud. Although I slept very well in my tent because Quiet hours were observed. It was nice waking up to view of Lake Allatoona. Lady at the gate was rude when checking in so make sure to “READ the sign!” Other than that bathrooms were clean and they have laundry and hot water showers. Will most likely be back!

    Shady Grove Campground

Shady Grove Campground on Lake Lanier

We met some friends here in the late afternoon Sunday of July 4th weekend. They already had a site (#51) which was nice with a beautiful view over the lake. The site had a nice big area with fire pit, picnic table, grill and room for a big tent. It also had a paved area down below where you can set up chairs with a great view of the water. The bath house was just a walk away. It did not have a great beach area, you have to climb or jump down the embankment but it is doable, just be mindful of young ones and pets. There is a main beach area in the campgrounds down the street but we wanted privacy for our group. The water is rocky so be careful. Once in the water we had a blast, great view of the islands in the water, boaters and jet skiers going by and nobody else on our beach. The bathrooms and showers were not great but there if you need them. They definitely don't want alcohol in the park. My friends said someone came by and told them to make sure they don't have alcohol earlier that day but I never saw one park ranger the whole time we were there. The other sites were kind of close but we got lucky and they all left earlier in the day. The sunrise was beautiful over the lake, we got to see some fireworks over across the lake at lanier world.

    Bald Ridge Creek

    Very nice overall

Nice view of lake when site across the lane isn't occupied. Restrooms/ showers cleaned and relatively maintained (1 shower curtain missing) , debris free paved lanes to all sites. Spot 80 had good afternoon shade. Trees block heavy winds from north and west. Fire pit may fill 1/2 way from heavy rain/ ground water.

    Shady Grove Campground

    Nice clean campgrounds

Nice quiet camp grounds. Each camping spot has a decent amount of room including a fire pit, grill, and picnic table. Spots are slightly uneven. There is easy access to the boat ramp and lake beach. The bathrooms are clean.

    Fort Yargo State Park Campground

    Walk in tent site 44

Nice large gravel site. Water access but no swimming allowed at campground. Parking lot is a short walk to campsite. Bathhouse is at the parking area. Picnic table and fire pit at site.

Wooded area but not secluded, limited shade on table. Will need a canopy for daytime table use. Neighbors lights will definitely be seen.

Nice site but probably won’t stay at this site again.

Guide to Redan

Stone Mountain Park Campground offers glamping options in safari tents near Redan, Georgia, about 15 miles east of Atlanta. The area sits at approximately 1,000 feet elevation with a humid subtropical climate that allows for year-round camping. Summer temperatures regularly exceed 90°F while winter nights can dip below freezing, making seasonal considerations important for yurt and tent campers.

What to do

Hiking trails for all levels: Stone Mountain Park features multiple hiking trails ranging from easy lakeside paths to more challenging terrain. "We loved these grounds. They were clean and there was easy access to bathrooms. The hike to the top was a challenge, but the views were worth it," notes Judy B. from Stone Mountain Park Campground.

Kayaking on lakes: Fort Yargo State Park Campground offers water activities on a 260-acre lake. "Great swimming and hiking," reports Barbara C. The park provides rentals for those without their own equipment. A camper at Stone Mountain mentions: "My husband and son enjoyed fishing and paddle boarding right behind our site."

Mountain biking trails: Hard Labor Creek State Park Campground offers dedicated mountain biking trails separate from hiking paths. These trails accommodate various skill levels and extend through wooded terrain. "The park has nice hiking trails and bikes trails, dog friendly," explains Winston M.

What campers like

Privacy between sites: Many campers appreciate the spacing between camping areas. At Sweetwater Creek State Park Campground, "Beautiful campground with great hiking. I wish there were more tent sites. Very friendly staff," notes Virginia W. The spacing allows for a more natural experience.

Clean facilities: Bathhouses receive frequent mention in reviews. "Shower house was clean, laser show fabulous and while hiking we saw a lot of beautiful wildlife!!!" shares Jennifer T. about Stone Mountain Park. Another camper mentions: "The bathhouse was a little dirty, so that's why I gave 4 stars instead of 5."

Yurt camping options: Several parks near Redan offer yurt accommodations for glamping experiences. Atlanta Glamping provides luxury tent options with basic amenities. "Lots of quality quiet time short walk to Arabia Mountain part hiking fishing and bike riding saw people roller skating also," notes Eric G.

What you should know

Reservation requirements: Most sites with yurts or safari tents require advance booking, especially during peak seasons. Sites can fill months ahead for holidays and summer weekends. Hard Labor Creek now uses site-specific reservations, meaning "you must choose a particular site when reserving."

Alcohol policies vary: Different parks enforce different rules about alcohol. Shady Grove Campground strictly prohibits alcohol consumption. "There is a strict no alcohol policy in the campground and it is made very clear by signage in the park," explains Chris H.

Weather considerations: The Georgia climate allows for year-round camping but requires preparation. "We camped in early November and there were other campers here, but still plenty of availability. The campground was nice and quiet," one camper notes about a nearby park.

Tips for camping with families

Playgrounds on site: Many campgrounds feature dedicated play areas for children. "This campground is great if you have kids. The playground is centrally located. Trails are easy to get to and the falls are a nice sight," shares Bille W. about High Falls State Park Campground.

Junior Ranger programs: Several parks offer educational activities for children. "Friendly staff, with the Jr ranger program still going with the help of adult campers during covid. Still so much fun and so clean and beautiful!!" reports Cheryl C. about Red Top Mountain State Park.

Swimming options: Many parks near Redan offer swimming access, typically in designated areas. "There is a pool, it cost $5 person," notes one camper about High Falls. Others mention beaches and swimming areas at several nearby lakes.

Tips from RVers

Leveling challenges: Some campsites require significant leveling for larger rigs. "The only downfall was that the trailer needed a lot of leveling. But it was totally worth it," shares Susan K. about Stone Mountain Park Campground.

Site selection guidance: For larger RVs, checking campground maps before booking helps identify suitable sites. At Red Top Mountain State Park Campground, "The sites are color coded depending on size," notes Suzy E. Some parks have staff who will help with site selection.

Dump station availability: Not all parks offer full hookups at every site. "No FHU, but they do have grey water dumps in numerous places in campground," explains Judi P. about Fort Yargo State Park. This information helps RVers plan for longer stays.
