Best RV Parks & Resorts near Pine Mountain Valley, GA

Pine Mountain RV Resort provides full hookup RV sites with concrete pads and 30/50-amp electrical service, accommodating larger rigs year-round. Sites range from premium pull-throughs with ample spacing to more densely arranged back-in spots. "The RV sites near the pool are concrete pads and well spaced out. The sites below the pool area are a little tighter and un-level," noted one camper. Ramsey RV Park in Warm Springs offers $700 monthly rates with full hookups including electric, water, and sewer connections. Lake Pines RV Park features big-rig friendly sites with 50-amp service and complete hookups in a quieter setting about 30 miles south.

Most RV parks in this region require advance payment, with Pine Mountain implementing a non-refundable reservation policy. Cell service varies considerably, with Verizon showing weak but functional coverage in some areas. Dump stations are available at Pine Mountain, Auburn RV Park, and Lake Pines, though some travelers reported broken or damaged sewer connections requiring attention. During peak periods, especially when Callaway Gardens hosts seasonal events, local RV parks fill quickly despite their higher rates. Most facilities welcome pets with standard leash restrictions, and several parks provide laundry facilities, swimming pools, and basic cable TV hookups. Winter stays remain comfortable with available amenities, though some parks reduce services during slower months.

    3 Creeks Campground

    Quiet for the most part

I stayed at 3 Creeks for a week as a dry run with a new Class A motorhome. The sites were not too close together, so that is a plus. A lot of full time residents, but mostly a quiet in-the-woods location. They have a mini water park, so expect some playtime noises during operation hours. Full hookups with 50 amp service and friendly hosts. Pet friendly, though most people do not clean up after their fur children.

    R. Shaefer Heard Campground

    Great Lakeside Camping

This park is located on the southern end of West Point lake near the town of West Point, GA. This is a wonderful park with 117 sites all located water front or water view, the sites are equipped with water, 30 or 50 amp electrical, table and fire ring. For this trip we stayed in site 115 which was level and paved, there was also a concrete pad with picnic table and an additional dirt and gravel tent pad area. We brought a canoe which was launched direct from our site which made this very convenient for morning and evening paddle trips. We also had bicycles, the park has good paved roads that are great for low impact bike riding.

There was good over the air TV reception as well as Verizon cell service and LTE data coverage. There’s ample shopping for supplies within 3.5 miles of the park in the towns of West Point and LaGrange.

The only negative for this park is the bathroom. There are two bath houses provided and several toilet only facilities, all are functional but in need of renovation. As as others have said, the park gates lock at 10:00 PM and there is no gate code to allow access after hours.

This is a great COE park with sites that provide views seldom found, we stayed here in a 20’ travel trailer.

    Chewacla State Park Campground

Great little state park just outside Auburn.

Traveling back east, we found Chewacla State Park campground on The Dyrt. Due to heavy rain, did not make it as far as we wanted, so this was a last minute same day reservation, which we made online.

Total fees were $42 for a full hookup site. We got site 34 which is an 80' long back in spot. Super easy to back in, even in super dark conditions with heavy cloud cover and no street lights of any kind.

Water pressure is awesome and they have both 30 & 50 amp electric. Sewage is nicely placed in a low spot so you won't need a hose lifter (a rarity in our experience).

Out spot is across from the bath house, but also the dump station. No smells, but I would imagine mornings might be a bit congested and noisy as other campers are leaving and dumping.

Also directly across from the site is a large picnic shelter. Sites are decently spaced apart, though site 35 is a pull through, and though unoccupied on our nights stay, might make it feel a bit more cramped.

Our site had a fire ring and picnic table. And even though it's close to the highway, no noticeable traffic noise. Only thing we could hear were some kids playing across the campground.

It's about 5 minutes off the interstate and very easy access (just watch out for the staggered speed bumps at the campground entrance...it's narrow, too.

No wi-fi in the park. But Verizon 4G was 3 out of 5 bars on my Samsung S20+.

Overall a great spot and easy to reserver online for those looking for a calm and peaceful overnight. Looking forward to getting a run on the trails in the morning!

    Camp David RV Resort

Beautiful area near lake and river walk

This is a new RV park with full hookups. WiFi is available for long term guests through Mediacom. Daily, weekly and monthly rates with up charge on electric after 800 kWh.

On the outskirts of Columbus. Fishing, Paved river walk for walking and biking, near Ft Benning and golf course. Pleasant owner with big plans to make this a great park. Assisted us with getting to and in our site at dark. Camp host is very helpful.

Cons: large gravel on road and sites making leveling difficult. Sites are fairly close together but better than some. Landscape is in its early stage so grass is sparse. Beautiful trees surround the area but none on sites.

Franklin D Roosevelt State Park Campground

    Great State park and camping

We were on site 213 and 214. Beautiful wooded site lots of space between sites in this loop. Very short walk to lake. Loop 1 sites are lake front and lake view but more close together than we like. Sites pretty level and gravel. Concrete picnic table, fire ring and light pole with lots of room fir our dogs. Bathroom facilities were very clean, with showers and laundry. Placed well around the campground. Playground but not opened at this time. Lots of hiking trails, pool, can rent canoes and paddle boats on the lake. Dog friendly. Close to Calloway Gardens and little town of Pine Mountain.

Lake Pines RV Park & Campground

Long term camping by the tracks

Lots of travel trailers here, but clean grounds. Bathrooms gnarly. Seems to be a lot of retirees and long term folks here. The guy who runs it was courteous and nice. Quiet except for the train that rumbled by at 3AM. Not a lot of solitude.

Guide to Pine Mountain Valley

RV parks near Pine Mountain Valley, Georgia provide camping options within proximity to local attractions like Callaway Gardens and FDR State Park. The region sits within the Pine Mountain Ridge, which rises approximately 400 feet above the surrounding Piedmont Plateau. Winter temperatures generally remain above freezing, though occasional cold snaps can occur, with camping available year-round at most facilities.

What to do

Explore nearby attractions: Pine Mountain RV Resort offers convenient access to local points of interest. "Very close to Calloway Gardens, FDR State Park, and Animal Safari! Nice quiet and clean sites," notes one Pine Mountain RV Resort camper.

Swim and relax: Multiple parks offer swimming facilities for summer camping. "The campground is very clean and has a great pool area. The pool area has a kids pool and hot tub along with the regular inground pool," reports a camper at Pine Mountain RV Resort.

Enjoy family playtime: Areas for children to run and play are available at select campgrounds. "We ended up spending more time sitting and watching them just play in the grass than we really thought," explains a parent who stayed at Auburn RV Park, adding that they found "a beautiful creek in front of our site."

What campers like

Spacious sites at select parks: Some campgrounds offer larger site options. "Each site is quite large, I've never seen such large campsites before," shares a camper at Bar-W RV Park, noting it's "on a cow farm, and sometimes the cows get loose but are sweet."

Quiet camping experiences: Several RV accommodations near Pine Mountain Valley provide peaceful environments. "This place is so serene. Except for the trains in the distance, it is so quiet and peaceful," mentions a visitor to Ramsey RV Park.

Natural settings: Some parks feature wooded areas and water features. "We face the woods which we love. We feed the wildlife and have a lot of birds. Sometimes deer," shares a long-term camper at Ramsey RV Park, appreciating the natural surroundings.

What you should know

Seasonal demand affects availability: RV sites fill quickly during peak periods, especially during events at Callaway Gardens.

Variable site quality: Site conditions can differ within the same campground. "The RV sites near the pool are concrete pads and well spaced out. The sites below the pool area are a little tighter and un-level," reports a camper.

Reservation policies: Most parks require full payment when booking. "There is only one thing I find as a negative. Their new policy of full (non-refundable) payment is now required when you make your reservation," notes a visitor to Pine Mountain RV Resort.

Utilities reliability varies: Some campers report issues with electrical service. "30 amp circuit was not adequate. The breaker continually tripped while using small kitchen appliances," shares a Lake Pines RV Park visitor.

Tips for camping with families

Choose sites with play areas: Some campgrounds offer better options for families with young children. "When I told her I'd like somewhere for my kids to run. They're 5 and 3," shares a parent at Pine Mountain RV Resort, who received a good site recommendation from staff.

Plan for pool time: Swimming facilities can be a major attraction for families. "The pool and playground are nice," notes a camper, while another mentions "a nice and well maintained pool, hot tub, and splash area for small kids."

Consider proximity to activities: Location relative to family attractions matters. One family specifically chose their campground because they "were in town for Callaway Gardens pumpkin event," making their stay more convenient with children.

Tips from RVers

Site selection matters: RVers note significant differences between sites at the same campground. "We had a 3 night stay at this park. You don't get to pick your site and they cluster everyone right next to each other even though there was plenty of open spaces," reports one RVer at Pine Mountain Resort.

Long-term options: Several RV parks in the Pine Mountain Valley area offer monthly rates. "[Ramsey RV Park offers] full hook up's, salt h2o swimming pool, cable, bath house, camp fires allowed, pets allowed on leash, $700.00/month," shares a camper at Lone Oak RV Flower Farm.

Utility connections: RVers should check sewer connection conditions. One camper reported "dual sewage drains however one was cracked in several pieces and was leaking around the ground so we were unable to use it. Apparently, it's common that they are broken."

Amenity considerations: Bathroom and shower facilities vary widely between rv parks in Pine Mountain Valley. "The restrooms near 185 were large and very clean. They were up to date and comfortable to shower in," notes a visitor, while others report less positive experiences at different facilities.
