Best RV Parks & Resorts near Evans, GA

Several RV parks operate near Evans, Georgia, providing access to Lake Thurmond and Augusta area attractions. Heritage RV Park in Augusta features level back-in sites with full hookups and 50-amp electric service, accommodating larger RVs despite the absence of pull-through options. "All sites are back in but very big so easy to get in. Great wifi. Streaming was no problem," reported one camper who found the park simple but clean with necessary amenities. Pointes West Army Resort in Appling offers water, electric, and sewer connections for RVs with bathrooms on-site. Plum Branch RV Park maintains 45 sites with both 30-amp and 50-amp service options, gravel pads, and picnic tables at each site. Most RV parks in the region provide basic amenities including water hookups, electric service, and sewer connections.

Seasonal considerations affect availability throughout the area, with some parks experiencing higher occupancy during summer lake season and Masters Tournament weeks. Many RV sites require advance reservations, particularly at state parks and Corps of Engineers facilities along Lake Thurmond. Cell service varies significantly by carrier, with one visitor reporting strong performance from Verizon (44.9 Mbps down) while T-Mobile showed no service at Plum Branch RV Park. Several campgrounds prohibit campfires, including Heritage RV Park where fire pits are not provided. Pet policies generally allow dogs with standard leash requirements. Dump stations are available at most parks, though Heritage RV Park and several others lack on-site laundry facilities or bathhouses, making them better suited for self-contained RVs with internal bathrooms.

    Mistletoe State Park Campground

Gorgeous and Tranquil in the Woods

This place was so perfect and our first camping experience with our new 40 foot RV! Check-in was easy and they even let us change to a pull-through site last minute. The grounds were sooooo gorgeous! Trees everywhere. Walking trails. And of course the lake. We went during fall colors so it was really magical.

PROS: Clean restrooms, spacious RV sites (they felt very private), many bathhouses within walking distance, friendly staff, nice gift shop

CONS: wet firewood and of course you had to buy from them, playground very small- made more for toddlers/preschool age, less than 5 years old, long walk to the dumpsters

Petersburg - J Strom Thurmond Lake

    Beautiful campsites

This campground has magnificent views, spacious sites, picnic tables, firepits, power (30 and 50 amp) and water hookups, dump station, bathrooms, and groomed swimming area.

The site (21) was very easy to pull through and had a wonderful view of the lake. I had to try to see my neighbors at the next site because the foliage separated the sites well. I saw a grounds person actively maintaining the empty sites which explains how well kept this campground is. The access roads are well kept.

    Very nice place !

This place has some great sites. Our site was #25. It was a pull through with 30 and 50 amp plugs. It’s a level lot with a grill, fire ring, picnic table and another small table. It’s right on the lake. There is a retaining wall at the water so it’s about a 3” step to the water. We plan to bring a sep ladder next time. Beautiful place to spend your time camping.

    Hamilton Branch State Park Campground

Great spacious site on the water, lots of privacy

We arrived at last light, and I am glad that we had daylight while we backed in. Lovely site, spacious. Sites 98 & 99  T off the connector road. Layout it such that your RV is parallel to the road, overlooking the water which is 80- 100 feet away. Your neighbors are a fair distance away, but your head and tail of the RV points to them- so once inside you're not even aware of them. We are 30 foot fifth wheel with F250, and i imagine the back-in would have been more challenging if 99 was occupied.  Nice family oriented park. Water and electric all good, dump station on way out.

Did not use facilities, but apparently showers and toilets are a little drive away.

Wood: We drove out of the park, turned left and found an honor-system wood kiosk on parallel road - just over the railroad tracks. $5 for a small bundle, but it was worth it to us.

    Leveling was not an issue.

Hosts keep site nice and clean,

Data: Visible worked great (25 mbs up & down, so no need to break out hotspots, Starlink etc

    Boss RV Park

    A very nice campground

The sites are mostly gravel with areas of dirt, but mine was level. I was near the bath house and laundry which were both clean and well maintained. The population looks like a mix of mostly long-term residents, with a few mid to short-term. It is a full hookup facility, and all my connections worked well.

    Aiken State Park Campground

    Amazing Find!

We stayed over on our way to Charleston, SC. We booked it online. We had no hookeups, but water and a dump station is available. There are hiking trails, canoeing, and fishing. The ranger was super friendly and they are pet friendly. We had to switch sites when we arrived due to a space issue. We have a 32’ RV and the site stated a max of 35’ but there was a tent pad that would have interfered with us being level. We were allowed to switch with no issues.

Another great COE campground We love this place

This time we’re in site 7-first time in this loop. Backing in took a few minutes, not the simplest but achievable for our 30 ft fifth wheel. Campsite excellent- electric & water, plenty big site-fire ring and picnic table

Also love trail from here to dam wall - did a bit of bush trail cycling. Awesome

    Heritage RV Park

Nice Sites for a Good Price

This is a clean well-cared RV park that is a nice place to stay but a bit of a no- frills park. We were busy exploring the town so it was really just a place to park our RV and the fact that there were not many amenities was fine with us. The park is close to I-20 and I-520 so there is easy on/off and it is a great place for an overnight if you are just traveling thru. At $35/night with full hook-up, wifi, paved patio this was a pretty good bargain.

The person who checked us in was nice and helpful and the process was speedy. All the roads are wide and easy to navigate. The sites are level and we had no problem fitting our RV and tow car in a back-in site. Our driveway was gravel/sand but the patio was paved with a picnic table. There is no cable but there is a clear view to the sky if you have satellite and we were able to receive numerous television channels with our antenna. Note that there are no restrooms or laundry. As with many RV parks, the sites are close together and since this is a fairly new park there are no large shade trees. Note: that there are no fire pits and campfires allowed.

Numerous stores and restaurants are nearby and there is lots to do in Augusta.  There is a nice walking path by the canal downtown where you may see some urban wildlife. Would highly recommend visiting the U.S Army Signal Corps Museum at Fort Gordon and the Augusta Canal National Heritage Area Interpretive Center downtown. We also did a narrated canal boat tour which was very informative and entertaining. Both were very interesting!
