Nice clean CG. Pool and hot tub well kept. Staff very friendly. When making reservations make sure to book towards the center of the park. We were in site 129A. The road noise was constant and loud. Site 127A was so close to us that our picnic table was beside their septic hose. Would stay here again just in an inner site.

We have tried to come here each year. It is a larger park, with many residents or longer term or leave the rig weekenders. On the weekends this park is a lot of fun with the boaters and weekenders. This park likes to party!
The park is very tropical, lush, and landscaping is really pretty. They have a great pool, hot tub, clubhouse area.
Some RV sites are a challenge to get into, some are larger. They prioritize based on the size of your rig mostly.
They have some spots near the canal or on the water and many that are not.

Although I am in overflow area I have water/electric and ueboy station is very close. Enclosed bath and showers are nee in this area. Very nice. Lots going on. Trails to walk on. Paved driving roads. Both water and land volleyball. Petanque courts very nice. Pickleball and tennis. Went out on kayak today in Lake. Bar and restaurant going full speed. Heard food was good. I eat my own. Poolside was nice but it is cooler than usual. Hot tub and sauna are perfect.
LegendWe enjoy this park a lot because it has so much to offer in the park, nearby, and we often see our friends here each winter. They have approximately 850 sites depending on the tortoises (sometimes they get a whole spot if their best is there). They are adding about 180 sites on the south side of the park. Full hook ups, generous yards, decent landscaping. There are some permanent structures, mostly rentals and the cabins. There are some personal sites as well. The park is about 2.63 miles all the way around the outer loop. Sometimes the cows from next door get loose and come visit. Sometimes there are alligators underneath RVs.
With so many guests they also have a gate guard shack thing and lots of staff members. They have dark green polos ride around on golf carts. They are super friendly. Most of them are RVers at the park as well.
They have many sections. A- Lots of pull throughs B- Giant Field where the kids play C-Not sure where this section is... D- Jungle, Secluded, Private, also with snakes but a lot more shade E/F/G- Normal RV Park in the grass, some shade in some parts. H- Residents of the park and some staff I- Residents and long term guests.
Getaway Cabins- they are adorable from the outside, they look massive compared to an RV.
Cell signals: This park is in Clermont, FL and it’s not a huge town but decent sized town. There isn’t great cell service. The park is further from a tower and there are so many RVers in the area that don’t count towards the population, it becomes a bandwidth issue. This park does have some kind of DSL for long term contracts. They have WiFi for a few throughout the park, and in the Club House they have better WiFi.

We have stayed here several times over the last few months. This is a bigger RV and golf resort with some 1200+ sites (a mix of mobile homes and open RV sites). The staff at the front gate were very welcoming and accommodating as the first site we were assigned was too small for our TT and was further away from the amenities (like the heated pool and hot tub) than we prefer, they quickly found other available sites for us to choose from and switched us to one that worked for us. The campground is family friendly but there is a big senior/retiree presence, they also have a decent playground and a fenced in Dog Park.

This resort opened in mid 2022, and it reflects in the quality of everything. This was a ground up build, so everything is brand new. Sites are perfectly level paver pads with beautiful landscape. Hook ups are perfect, with awesome WiFi. Huge amenity center with gym, pool and hot tub, gorgeous clean showers and laundry. Great floating dock and two dog parks too. Close to everything in the Tampa area, but off the crowded areas. Just off the upper Tampa Bay Park, with plenty of hiking trails,etc. The owners/builders are gracious hosts, who host events all the time. Highly recommend this CG. Already booked our winter trip for next year.

Has by far not been my favorite. It’s divided into 3 parts. We are Accross the road with no swimming pool or dog park. The main camp has a pool but the hot tub is broken. The dog park they do have has been closed the entire time we have been here. The main camp ground is very crowded and close together but at least there is a lot going on compared to our side which is very very quiet except for the fair people who have started coming in. There is another pool in the third section but that has been closed forever. I also am not fond of the area itself. For some this might be great but if you have small kids I don’t think this is the camp ground for you. Luckily we have a membership because with the lack of amenities I would have been disappointed to pay the going rate.
TravelerThe park isn’t the best park we have been to but the surrounding area and safety and nice people make up for it. The bathroom is very nice and modernized. Laundry is more pricy than any other but they take card so it’s nice not having to get cash or quarters every time. Don’t like being towered the front of the park right next to the road. Love to be in the back where all the shady trees are. Sometimes neighbors play loud music until pretty late. The people in the park are so nice. The heated pool and hot tub are wonderful though could use some more water in it at times. One of the bathroom stalls has been closed forever and isn’t being fixed so there is only two in the main one. There is another set though in the club house area. Has a nice library and a mail room. Mount Dora and down town Eustis are beautiful.

Good RV Park near Disney and it is a very pretty, lush, tropical park. Old town Kissimmee is right next door, and it has several loud amusement rides. This is definitely an active RV Park, lots of people out enjoying all of the activities. Spaces are tight and roads are narrow and lots of curves and curbs. The only bummer we noticed was the dumpster area in the middle of the park would get hot and it would stink pretty bad, Florida is breezy and it was pretty unpleasant.
They have golf cart rental, thought that was pretty cool.

Lots of built in units for rental, some streets are narrow and challenging to navigate. Many spots did not have sewer, but they had free pump outs every Wednesday and a dump station. They will be fixing this during 2020- per management.

Part of the Starkey Wilderness Preservethis location is full of multi use trails, has primitive cabin rentals (no electric) and tent camping available. Front country (car camping) and back country camping (hike in only). There are specific equestrian camping sites as well.
Cabins are pretty close to each other. All sites need to be reserved.Tent, cabin, shelter and pavilion reservations: Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Park, (727) 834-3247. Picnic tables and fire pits are provided. Pavilions are also available to rent and they take reservations for large groups as well.
We chose car camping for our visit to check the place out. A favorite for hiking and biking. This place has gotten busier as development has been growing steadily over the years. Many of the trails are without shade and the recent fire season hit the back part of the tract pretty hard (Spring 2017) but you would not see any signs of this unless you hiked out the furthest trails from entrance.
Bring your bikes, hiking shoes, horses, or telescopes. Birders bring your binoculars! Over 150 species call Starkey home either full or part time. There is something here for everyone.
As always in Florida bring bug spray, sunblock, hat, and please leave no trace!

Cabin "camped" at Lake Louisa for a long weekend. The cabin was absolutely amazing, clean, spacious, and stocked with everyone we needed. Just had to bring food. Sitting on the porch at night in the glider rocker was so relaxing, there was hardly anyone at the park and it was very quiet. Paddled one of the lakes and did some productive bass fishing. There are kayaks to rent, or you can bring your own. BBQ'd in a pavilion one eve and it was super clean too. Biked the paved roads and hiked miles and miles of wooded trails. The public bathrooms were immaculate and the rangers we ran into were so very kind and helpful. Just bring plenty of bug spray! We can't wait to go back to tent camp next time!

Centrally located between Eustis, Tavares, Umatilla, and Leesburg you will find this lovely RV resort on Lake Harris in Central Florida. Their busy season starts in Oct and goes through April with many guests staying throughout the months. Off season it is very easy to get a spot.
They are in the middle of a large number of renovations. All sites will have concrete pads by late 2019, New clubhouse is scheduled but behind schedule.
They have 7 hotel units they advertise as vintage but they are just full of ancient furnishings and poorly lit - yet they will take you back in time to when the park first opened in the 50's. There are about 5 lodges and over 300 RV sites. Best sites seem to be up on the hill and they boast a beautiful view of Lake Harris and the 9 hole golf course. They are spacious but not private and there are no picnic tables at sites.
At the lower portion of the resort you will find the marina, 160 high and dry racks, about 60 wet slips, current clubhouse, bathrooms, brand new laundry facility and a very small store. They have golf clubs to loan if you want to check out their 9 hole course, there is a decent pool, gym, and showers. The hot tub is permanently out of commission. Grounds and facilities were very clean and you can tell that fresh painting had recently been done.
With all the small town Florida vibe in the area it is not hard to find the perfect place for dinner, shopping, exploring or just taking a boat out for some fishing. Staff is very knowledgeable of the area and can refer you to many resources. In busy season they have themed pot luck dinners, live music and other activities to keep everyone entertained.
With some of the best prices in the area you really can't go wrong with a stay here - unless you are looking for high end or luxury amenities. This home town park will make you feel like you just came home.

Insider’s tips? Here’s a few: (1) If you’ve got wine on your mind (and why wouldn’t you when on holiday?!), just meander a few miles south of Clerbrook and you’ll discover a fairly respectable winery called Lakeridge Winery & Vineyards offering tours and tastings featuring Muscadine grapes (apparently a prominent grape varietal down in these parts known for their antioxidant qualities; (2) When you get tired of fixing every meal from your mini-fridge or cooler, then you’ll have to head south to Clermont where you’ll find PeruRican Ceviche, which for these parts is pretty outstanding and if you are still longing for pizza, check out Mamma Rita’s Pizzeria for some good pies and pasta; and (3) If nature is calling and you want to get out for a good hike, then head due south to Hiawatha Preserve that has a few dog parks, playgrounds, picnic areas, hiking paths, and of course, access to Lake Hiawatha, in case you want to drop your kayak or canoe in the water.

Allow me to begin by saying I have never been to a large RV campground… ever! This place is so huge that you won’t be surprised if you get lost in this place at least a couple of times before you find your slotted RV destination for the night. Also, I was amazed by how close to the concrete jungle you are at this place, but once you turn on the winding little lane that will bring you to this megalopolis RV circus – fitting given your proximity to all of themed amusement parks! – after crossing through the entry gates, you immediately lose sight of all the traffic, noise and business as you are swallowed up by the lush verdant trees of pines, palms and Ancient oaks.
As for the campground itself, you’ll enter off the very busy 192 and head south on Scott Boulevard, where you’ll pass 3 intersecting lanes before arriving to Sherwood Forest RV Resort. There will be plenty of signage, so you shouldn’t get lost arriving here – it's another story once inside this massive compound. To navigate yourself to the proper location you have been assigned of the 514 potential overnight possibilities that exist, you’ll first want to stop off at the administration building, where they should give you a map – and if they don’t, be sure to ask for you, because you’re going to need it! Basically, this entire place is back-to-back RV’s parked at a diagonal with very little to no privacy whatsoever and given that Sherwood Forest is so heavily populated, you are going to encounter both a decent amount of traffic (the golf cart kind) and noise. And while I would normally encourage folks to get as close to the pool area as possible, I found this main congregating place to be quite jam packed and noisy.
Amenities: Clubhouse / lounge, mini-golf, basketball, dog park, RV storage, restroom / shower facilities, horseshoe pit, WiFi (at a cost away from the main building), shuffleboard, darts, fitness center, in-ground heated swimming pool, nearby Tiki bar, LP gas refill station, laundr-O-mat, ballroom, mail room, library, banquet hall, catch-and-release lake fishing, marketplace store, playground, game room, billiards, whirlpool / spa / hot tub, picnic tables, pavilion areas, fire pits, BBQ grill, designated trash receptacles, trash compactor, cable TV / satellite and back-in / pull-through sites with full hook-ups (30/ 50 amp electric, water and sewage). Here’s a few: (1) The best sites, in general, are all of the ones that are completely on the perimeter of Sherwood Forest RV Resort, specifically sites #1– 137 (you will note that there are a handful of cottages and cabins for rent in these slots as well); (2) When you get done staring down the inside of your cooler or mini-fridge and are looking for a place to sit down and eat for a change, then there are no shortage of food joints to have a look at, including: Krispy Kreme (my personal favorite), Cracker Barrel (my personal least favorite restaurant in the universe), Longhorn Steakhouse, Ichiban Buffet, Martin’s BBQ, Olive Garden and 192 Crab & Lobster Juicy Seafood & Bar;(3) If by chance you have forgotten anything, avoid paying double or triple the price at the on-site market by going to either Walmart or Publix, which are both about a mile and half away; and (4) If you would actually like to enjoy a bit of the outdoors while staying at this RV amusement park, go for a day trip to Lake Tohopekaliga, which has some pretty amazing bass fishing as well as a few choice places to drop your boat into, like Twin Oaks or Cherokee Point Conservation Areas (and if you don’t have your own kayak, canoe or boat, contact Wild Willys Airboat Tours and they’ll show you around).

GuideGreat get away in west-central Florida as a day trip or long weekend stay.
We spent the day hiking the numerous off-road trails and enjoying some of the amenities the park has to offer. The park has separate primitive tent, car-camping (tent) and cabin campgrounds near the entrance of the park along with over 50 miles of biking, hiking, nature as well as equestrian trails to enjoy. Not to mention several parking areas throughout with playgrounds and an educational center make this a favorite for families to just get away.
Reservations can be made for camping up to 90 days in advance either online or at the park. We noticed several rangers and volunteers performing various tasks to improve the parks appearance. Will definitely be returning!

I was surprised to see this awesome cabin listed, but I’m happy it is :) We went here with family since many relatives were in town doing touristy stuff it was a great ‘base camp’ for everyone to stay at. It worked out well as some family members like the cabin experience and others were able to stay in tents near the cabin. There are lots of places to sleep (bunk beds, queen, etc). The lake is beautiful! We used the canoes that come with the cabin multiple times as well as trying our luck fishing on the dock. The yard has a picnic table and fire pit. It’s only about an hour from Orlando. Our family loved this cabin :)

I stayed at the youth camp for a 10-day training seminar in January. The youth camp is secluded from the family campground, and the cabins are nicely spaced among beautiful pines. The cabins are clean and have comfortable mattresses--some cabins have a bathroom. The shower house is not heated but never ran out of hot water! The water here tastes and smells good, it does not have a sulphur smell.
Beautiful trails, paddling and swimming in the park. Many deer and waterfowl.

We are not big on the theme parks so staying at campgrounds, either setting up a tent or renting a cabin, has been our way to enjoy the family vacation, but in nature. Opted for the cabin option during our stay at Lake Louisa and we were very happy with the choice. Cabin was fully furnished and very clean. There was a lot of indoor and outdoor eating space meaning family gathered at our place, which was great! We did notice primitive camping was available too. Kayaked on Dixie Lake, hiked, swam, and biked while others were less than a ½ hour away hanging with Mickey Mouse.

Why contemplate leaving the creature comforts of home when you can just haul everything that you love most to a place that provides all of the concrete paved, easy-to-access amenities that you likely have at home in the first place? Even here at this KOA, that’s not a problem, where the proprietors will easily rent you a deluxe cabin, if there is one available. These 1BR or 2BR A/C cooled Deluxe Cabins sleep 4, 6 or 8 people and come with bunk bed set, futon / sofa sleeper and a queen-sized bed along with a private bath and shower, TV with cable offering over 20 channels, some with EV chargers, patio w/ charcoal or gas BBQ grill and fire pit, front porch with patio furniture and chairs, refrigerator, fresh linens, paw pen for the pups and a partial or full kitchen. They even have rustic cabins that are cheaper and don’t come with all the thrills for those that want some degree of ‘roughing’ it, so this means no kitchen and no bathroom or showers, although there is full bed, bunk bed, TV, mini-refrigerator, A/C patio furniture, brick fire pit with cooking grate.
Insider’s tips? Here’s a few: (1) To continue with the simple, easy-to-access, manufactured experience theme here, for those that grow tired of trying to conjure up that next meal for the kiddos, who are grumbling about making every meal, head on over to any one of these nearby drive-thru windows or curb-side meal offerings: McDonald’s, Panda Express, Applebee’s, Steak ‘n Shake and Wendy’s; (2) If you want to heighten that suburban culinary experience you all have been craving though, I really do rate the silverware-free dining experience that is Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament, which is literally just down the road and is actually a lot of fun for the kiddos and adults alike; (3) Should you find yourself in need of anything that you either forgot or may have run out of, then fear not, there’s a Sam’s Club that is in walking distance from this KOA and further south that definitely requires a drive, there’s a Walmart Supercenter; (4) I’ve noticed that this place has SIGNIFICANT discounts if you simply plan in advance – so for example, during the months of March OR April (it’s January now), they’re offering a whopping 25% discount; and (5) If you are looking for a slice of nature’s paradise, then I highly recommend driving a bit north to Wekiwa Springs, where you’ll be able to enjoy one of the most amazing springs in all of Florida where the water is 72 degrees year round.

We have lived over 3 months here and always enjoyed it. The people are friendly including the staff. The pool and jacuzzi are nice and if you like to fish, there are nice bass in the ponds

This park has RV sites, regular tent sites, cabins and primitive camping. I like the regular tent sites, not much of a walk in but secluded. The park includes restrooms and showers and seem to be taken care of. There are several trails around, one paved, and I believe the Florida Trail is very close. Quiet at night and peaceful.
LegendSituated right off of rout 27, a very busy 3 lane state road and not too far from Disney Parks is Lake Louisa State Park. This wasn’t on our initial“A” list of parks to hit as it is a little too close to Orlando for our tastes and driving on I-4 with a trailer is sometimes less than enjoyable, but the Covid has changed some of that. The roads were surprisingly open for a weekend“in-season”. This was definitely an under promise and over deliver weekend in spite of the overcast and rainy weather.
The campground is situated between two lakes, Dixie and Hammond. Lake Louisa is much larger but quite a distance from the campground. With three loops, the campground is quite large but didn’t seem as big as it was. The park also offers really nice cabins overlooking the lake on a hill as well as what they call“care free camp sites” which is a modern form of Glamping. I have a few pics attached.
We are not theme park people but if I was this would be a great way to do it in either a cabin or tent and a day trip to the park. The campground also has Canoe/Kayak rentals and a small store with essentials including ice and firewood.
The park is in Claremont which is a bedroom community to Orlando so the park sees quite a bit of“day trippers” from Tampa, Lakeland and Orlando as it should. The hiking is great, you can also horseback ride and the biking is really great too. The park has quite a bit of topography for a Florida State Park which tend to more or less flat so the cycling looked really good. Next time we’ll bring our road bikes in addition to my OneWheel and Canoe.
All the sites looked pretty good. We were in the third loop in site #43 which was on the inside and next to the bath house but with enough buffer space you didn’t notice anybody at all. We commented that we should have brought laundry as it would have been really convenient.
Lots to do at this Florida State Park with an overall good vibe for sure. Don’t let the proximity to a rather large population fool you, it is great place to visit!

GuideSuper cute secluded cabin directly on the lake. You have your own private boat slip, 100ft long dock for fishing & swimming, canoes/paddles/life jackets on site. You'll need to bring your own towels and linens but all Cook wear, dishes, etc are supplied. Cabin sleeps 6/8 comfortably and has 2 tent sites as well. 2 bundles of firewood are included at time of check in......Peaceful doesn't even being to describe it! Totally wort the nightly rate!
