Several RV parks near Captiva provide full hookup sites for recreational vehicles. Fort Myers Beach RV Resort offers water, electric, and sewer connections with both 30 and 50-amp service available. Gulf Air RV Resort in Fort Myers Beach maintains year-round operations with full hookups and accommodates pets. Pioneer Village RV Resort in North Fort Myers features concrete pads with picnic tables and 50-amp electrical service, while Gulf View RV Resort in Punta Gorda includes big-rig friendly sites with water, electric, and sewer connections. "The sites are SO tight. Crazy tight. And there are a lot of seasonal sites mixed in that are not well kept with old cars and junk scattered around."

Reservations are essential during winter months when snowbirds flock to southwest Florida. Most parks require advance booking, with some filling completely 11 months ahead for peak season from January through March. Cell service varies between parks, with Verizon generally providing reliable coverage throughout the region. Dump stations can become congested near checkout times, particularly at state parks like W.P. Franklin. According to one visitor, "If you want to getaway and never leave, there's plenty to do without leaving the park. If you want to see Sarasota County, then this is a great place to use as home base." Many RV parks charge additional fees for amenities like WiFi, with some using card systems for laundry facilities that require minimum purchases.

      Sea Isle Resort

      Convenient to Matlacha

Our stay here was a bit weird. Since it was March in Florida (and nearly impossible to find available campsites unless you reserved 11 months in advance), we called ahead to see if there was room. When Carl learned we only had a 17-foot camper van, he agreed to “fit us in”. Yes, there was a slot that we backed into and we had room to erect our screen room on the concrete pad next to our van but there was absolutely NO privacy between sites. Many of the people here were long-term residents and not generally vacationing campers. Although information says the rates range from $30-$60 per night, we paid $50, cash only. There were no restrooms on-site, but we were able to use the clean restrooms at the county park across the street (but had to make a mad dash across the busy road to get there). It suited our needs for two nights to enjoy small and quirky Matlacha, including walking distance to kayaking opportunities, but we wouldn’t choose to stay here again.

      Northtide Naples 55+ RV Resort

      Simple place

If your looking for a weekend get away this is not the place. If you are looking for long term camper living this is the place for you. The sites dont have fire rings or bbq pits and they are very small and cramped together but what can you ask for. They do have a heated pool and are close to town since they are in the middle of it. Coin operated laundry and there is a day room

      Myakka River RV Resort

      Low Key Campground

We stayed here for a week and overall it’s a solid, no frills place to stay. Level & compact sites with concrete patio pads. Our site backed right up to the marsh, which had a lot of birds & wildlife. There’s a pool, laundry, fenced dog area, and WiFi (for an extra fee). Verizon cell service was solid & always had connection. Mostly long term residents here but they are really friendly & helpful.

      Koreshan State Park Campground

Our favorite place close to home

We camp Koreshan because it is literally less than 10 minutes from our house. We can set up camp and stay throughput the week even if the kids have school. It’s hard to book a weekend at any Florida campground in season so plan ahead if you want a Florida State park. This campground has short trails to hike through beautiful bamboo forests. A ramp for putting in your kayaks or SUPs as well as kayak rental. Locations to fish the river. You are a 20 minute drive to the beach from here. Very centrally located to shopping and farmers markets. Koreshan has a farmers market there at the park I believe on Sundays. The campsites have a fire pit and wood is sold at the entrance. It is a historic site of the early settlers of the area from the late 1800’s so there are historical buildings on site to tour. It is a pet friendly campground. The only reason I give this campground 4* rather than 5 is because of the road noise from Hwy 41 that it is off. It’s quite peaceful until you get a motorcycle racing up and down the highway at 2am. They do have specific sites if you wish to camp in hammocks. If you google the campground you should be able to find out which sites those are.

      Naples/Marco Island KOA Holiday

      Very nice and laid back

We stayed here for a week and thoroughly enjoyed it. The location is fantastic, close enough in to be 5 minutes from a super Wallmart and shopping, 25 minutes to Everglades City where we went out fishing and took an air boar tour, and is a hop skip to Marco beaches. This is your standard KOA with an upscale amenities list. The cell service and Wi-Fi were fantastic all over the site bc they have signal boosters located throughout. We are tent campers and the various tent sites seemed to be better than most. The pads were dry and flat. Each site has a table, fire pit ring, and water/ele. The sites are kinda on the steep side, but the place is nice and the owner totally believes in upgrading and maintenance, which is refreshing in this day and age. The pool facilities are super nice and the bath facilities were very clean. I will definitely be coming back to this little hide away! I give it 5 stars for its cleanliness, amenities, super friendly staff, location, and my experience staying there. We drove away with a smile on our faces and great Memories. I’m surprised there aren’t more reviews posted!

      Great getaway

Clean, well-maintained campground consisting of 30 spots spread out along the edges of a boomerang-shaped island. All except for 3 sites are waterfront. Sites 22-30 and 8 boat slips are on the South end with a large parking area, boat launch, picnic area, and bath house. On the North end there is a larger bath house and picnic area along with sites 1-21. There are a few drive thru sites (11 & 19-22) and the rest are nicely angled. The concrete parking pads are level and the pea gravel is well tended. All sites have 30/50 amp electric, water, covered picnic table, and fire pit. No sewer at the sites. Dump station near the exit. There isn't much shade due to immature trees and palms. Nice fishing pier and a lending library near the middle. For kayakers the launch ramp is good and some sites on the inland side have good slope and shallow water to launch from directly. Sites facing the river are in the restricted waterway area near the locks so no boats are allowed. This is a nice quiet place to decompress.

      Periwinkle Park

      Sanibel Island on a Budget

Sanibel Island is a great vacation spot full of vacation homes, white sand beaches, and world-class shell hunting. This is the only campsite available on the entire island, and as a result it is a bit pricier than most camp sites, but it is far and away the most economical way to see the island. It is driving f distance from most of the local tourist sites we stayed for a week and never ran out of things to do.

The campground is less than a mile from the beach, easily walkable and even easier to bike. The campsite is designed to acomódate RV camping and long term mobile home set ups, however there are some lots available for tents as well. Due to the RV and location in city limits there are no campfires allowed, but grills are allowed and the site has very well kept and clean shower/bathroom facilities.

    Guide to Captiva

RV sites near Captiva, Florida range from family-friendly resorts to basic accommodations across Lee County. Located in southwest Florida, Captiva and neighboring areas have an average winter temperature of 75°F, making it a popular destination for winter camping. Most RV parks in the region have experienced some damage or changes following Hurricane Ian, affecting site availability and amenities.

    What to do

Boating access: Encore Harbor Lakes provides proximity to water recreation with wildlife viewing opportunities. "Lots of wildlife: birds, alligators, and rabbits" can be spotted around the property according to one camper.

Beach excursions: The trolley service near Gulf Waters RV Resort makes beach trips convenient without driving. "Trolly next door to take you to beach. Very convenient to everything," notes a visitor who stayed there.

Fruit tree nursery: NOFO GROVES Getaway offers a unique camping experience at an active plant nursery. "Could not leave without getting a couple of fruit trees" mentioned one extended-stay camper who appreciated this unusual setting.

    What campers like

Pool facilities: Encore Sunseekers receives positive feedback for its aquatic amenities. One camper noted, "The bath houses were clean and well kept up. The pool was enjoyable."

Location convenience: Encore Gulf Air earns praise for its strategic position near beaches. A reviewer commented, "Great place to spend the winter. 3 miles from the beach."

Social atmosphere: Many seasonal campers appreciate the community feel at certain parks. At Pioneer Village, one reviewer noted, "This is a park with permanent sites, transient and seasonal people, with the locals prominently making the social life active and fun."

    What you should know

Site spacing concerns: Tight spacing between units is commonly mentioned across multiple RV parks. At Fort Myers / Pine Island KOA Holiday, a camper reported, "The sites are VERY tight and leave a lot to be desired. The website photos are pretty misleading."

Mixed-use facilities: Many RV sites near Captiva combine vacation spots with permanent residencies. "This is more of a trailer park than a campground. There are lots of older permanent campers setup among the campsites," noted a visitor about Pine Island KOA.

Hurricane recovery: Some facilities are still rebuilding. At Encore Gulf View, a camper observed, "To be fair, they are still recovering from hurricane Ian. Some of the sites are very nice and well kept and others look like they have very long term residents."

    Tips for camping with families

Emergency options: Having backup plans is essential when traveling with children. One camper at Harbor Lakes shared, "We wanted to use our generator for camping to test it out, but it would not start. Had to have a RV park nearby and called, and booked a site within 10 minutes."

Pool safety: Many facilities have pools without lifeguards. A visitor noted, "The pool was really big and beautiful, the hot tub nice, and the showers very clean" but supervision responsibilities fall to parents.

Pet-friendly sites: Encore Pioneer Village accommodates families with pets. The park features concrete pads that help keep camping areas cleaner for children and pets compared to dirt or gravel sites.

    Tips from RVers

Shower facilities: Bathroom amenities vary widely between parks. One RVer at Harbor Lakes reported, "Shower facility was clean and decent sized," though noted an uncomfortable interaction with staff regarding shower length.

Laundry considerations: Card-based laundry systems are common. Have cash ready for initial card purchases, as one visitor discovered, "they use the card system so you have to pay just to get the card."

Seasonal booking: Winter months require extensive advance planning. A long-term visitor at Pioneer Village noted, "It's declared full, yet lots of spaces have yet to be filled, so it is nice to be some of the first ones here for the season."
