Great location to Yellowstone North Entrance

About a ten minute drive from the market in town so it was great for us after leaving Yellowstone. Very pretty surroundings and the night sky is gorgeous. Desert landscape so you should make sure to have a canopy or sun shade. People do come up here to shoot, so if that is something that bothers you it may not be the place for you. This is still bear country so I would suggest having bear spray and always make sure that your food is packed away. We did some some recent bear scat, but have not had an encounter.

Full of trash... but ok for a stop over and fantastic sunset.

Listen… we needed a stop over and homies from Cali stayed here during first wave of Corona while we were stuck in Joshua Tree. Loud during the day and skydiving but fine for a night as long as you are coming in at sunset. It’s hot AF and AN ENORMOUS amount of trash. But we only stayed a night and the sunset made it worth it. Do yourself a favor, drop some acid and stay for the night.

Amazing

This place is amazing. We took the aide road off the main campsites and found the second site on the road and it’s amazing. We could pass the road in our vehicle and it’s a large site with a private beach. You can also hike down the road to sites impassable by car. Can access by ATV, horse, foot, watercraft. Water is clear but cold and super quiet during the week. We are the only people here right now. So amazing. Be prepared for bugs tho. You need deet, torches, and keep a fire on low wind. Other than that perfect.

Beautiful and great for rockhounds!

First, I will start with this… there are spiders. Like a lot of them. They set up all over everything overnight and it takes about two hours to get them off of everything the next morning. If you hate spiders do not come here because it is kind of nightmarish. We only stayed two nights because after the third morning I couldn’t deal with the spiders anymore.

The reservoir is gorgeous and clear. It looks so sapphire blue during the day. The weather was perfect. Hot during the day so the cold water felt amazing and cool enough at night to have amazing beach fires. Wind can be brutal. No shade so make sure you have a canopy. So many sites all over the area you just need to drive around to find one away from sooo many people. Public restrooms too but moths live in them which is just about as nightmarish as the spiders.

Good for a couple of days.

Beautiful scenery

The lake itself is beautiful and the sites are really large. All have fire rings and some nice large bbqs and there are public restrooms. Great if you are a fisher or have a watercraft. The sunsets were incredible.

Downfalls: no trees so the wind is brutal! The lake has leeches so no swimming… which was a huge disappointment. Like someone said earlier people leave trailers there for days at a time with no one coming to check so there are quite a few occupied spots with no one in them. We decided to move up to Willow Lake which is a few miles further up in the Bridger-Teton NF where we can swim, more privacy, hiking, and trees to block the wind.

Most Beautiful Site Ever

We were told about this site inside Purgatory and man was it amazing. Each site is huge and there are so many hiking trails! Pretty private and large sites! We stayed at 578J for two weeks and it was literally the best site we passed. Easier to snag a site on a Tuesday AM. Weather can be crazy! It snowed on us on June 8.
