Located on the scenic California Coast, approximately 80 miles northwest of Santa Barbara, and 180 miles northwest of Los Angeles, Pismo Beach camping is a seaside recreation destination for beach goers, wine drinkers, and outdoor enthusiasts. Sun lovers will find miles of white, sandy shoreline for soaking up the California rays, tossing frisbees, riding the waves, or just taking a leisurely sunset stroll. 

Digging for Pismo Clams is a popular—and tasty—surfside activity. Daily clamming permits are available at several local businesses. Grape connoisseurs will find an attractive selection of waterfront venues pairing fresh cuisine with artisanal vino from historic vineyards in Edna Valley, Arroyo Grande, and the Santa Rita Hills. For more outdoor fun, there’s ATV and horseback riding at Oceano Dunes, bicycling along the beachfront, and golfing at several premier local courses. In winter, don’t miss the Monarch Butterfly Grove, just south of town, where thousands of butterflies take shelter during their annual migration.

 For taking advantage of all the relaxation and recreation that Pismo Beach Campground has to offer, the North Beach Campground is located right at the edge of town, and within walking distance of the waterfront. The campground offers more than 100 drive-in tent and RV campsites; some sites are ADA accessible. Sites are mostly open and grassy and are equipped with picnic tables and fire rings with grills. RV hookups are not available at this location; max vehicle/trailer length is 36 feet. The campground features flush restrooms, showers, and an outdoor amphitheater that hosts junior ranger and campfire programs. Trails in the campground lead to the beach, explore the nearby Carpenter Creek, and lead to the Monarch Butterfly Grove. Surf fishing is permitted on the beach, and freshwater fishing is permitted in nearby Oceano Lagoon; valid fishing license required for both. Dogs are permitted in the campground, but must remain leashed, and must be confined to a tent or vehicle overnight. Camping is available year-round; sites are $35/night; reservations recommended.

We camped her in Feb 2021 &amp; had a great time. Small quiet state park campground with pull-through RV sites. Water &amp; electric hookups, clean restrooms w/ private showers (showers requires tokens). Firewood available from camp host. Easy access for most rvs. Market, deli, drive-on beach (open in 2021).

Rangers drive big trucks and tractors several times a day. Make the place little noise. Dry camping, some spots with water and electricity. Hot showers pay with tokens careful the showers are really hot. Clean free restroom and nice trail to the beach. Overall is good. 

Good but lot noise....

We didn’t like it here, no shade, the absolutely won’t let you check in until 2:00 pm, no exceptions.
