Perfect spot for a night or two

I’m not sure you’ll find a campground like this anywhere else in California for $29/night with partial hookups. It was quiet and peaceful. Bathrooms could have used some attention. Not a fan of no toilet seats on the toilets.

Great spot for a night or two

Tons of dispersed spots down the road.

Great spot for a night or two

I stayed here for CDT Days. Great location walking distance to everything. There’s a grocery store around the corner. Super quiet. Woke up to the birds chirping away. Priced fairly and would stay here again.

Nice spot for a night

I stayed here on my way to 395. It’s good for one night. There’s some road noise but otherwise quiet. I was disappointed to see a lot of micro trash at my site. There are hot showers, wifi and bathrooms as well as electric at the site.

Great place if you’re going to Red Rocks

We stayed here two nights and chose the campground due to its proximity to Morrison and the Red Rocks Amphitheater. They have showers for $1 that last 5min which is more than enough. There is a dump station and a water fill station as well.

Perfect place to stay

I spent one night there. My site was huge! I did not have good cell service on Verizon there. ATT was a bit better. The showers and bathrooms were clean. People were quiet for the most part. There were a pack of wild children running through the woods with headlamps which was slightly terrifying seeing all those lights bobbing up and down through the forest.

Hidden Gem

Quiet campground with trees and a great view of the dunes. Clean bathrooms and cell service on Verizon fluctuated from one to three bars. I wish I was staying two nights.

Great group dispersed site

Spent the weekend here with several friends and their rigs. Plenty of room for everyone.

Great dispersed spot near Bisbee

This is a dispersed spot. Room for two rigs. Great view but it’s a bit windy at night. You can also go up the steep hill around the corner and find more dispersed spots further up the road. During hunting season there is a bit of traffic on this road.

Great location and price!

I stopped here on a whim after getting smoked out of Central Oregon. I was surprised at how cheap the site was relative to other State Parks on the coast. $21 for the night. It was quiet and peaceful and I had a great stay. Will definitely come again.

Great spot!

This is a huge group campsite with a few fire rings and plenty of space to spread out. It can be reserved during certain times of the year so be sure to check out the BLM site. Otherwise it’s free and in a great spot just off the highway and near Empire Ranch. You should definitely bring bikes to ride along some of the trails and go check out the Old Empire Ranch buildings two miles further down the road.

One of the best state parks!

The park itself is great. There are a ton of bike paths and your entrance into your campsite also allows you access to the park the next day so you can explore after check out if you want.

Quiet hours are not enforced. There was a rowdy group near me that was loud well past 10p.

I only stayed one night but would like to come back again. So much to explore!

Cell service is non existent in park FYI.

It’s okay

I paid $45 for one night at a standard spot with no water. The only good thing were the showers, they were hot, mostly clean. Otherwise I feel like this campground is overpriced for what you get. Which is basically a spot to park. You have to pay for showers.

Perfect during the winter

I don’t recommend coming here during the summer due to heat. This is more of a winter camping destination. We had clear skies and beautiful sunny weather. It got cold at night. I like that there are solar charging stations all over the park and free showers. There is no cell service so it’s great if you want to truly unplug.

New favorite place to camp

I spent two nights here and made sure to explore as much as possible with the limited time I had. There are plenty of trails for hiking and biking. You can fish along the River. We saw big horn sheep on one of the ridges. Can’t wait to come back to see more.

Second time same spot!

We headed up here a few days before Labor Day weekend and secured the same spot I stayed at two years ago. Site #2 has plenty of room and we were able to set up our screen tent. There were also a lot of huckleberries behind the site. Not many bugs either. Also, the FS website says it’s $12/night but it’s actually $16/night and they check regularly.

Quiet and secluded

Make sure you have 4WD and a high clearance rig to get here. The last four miles are an exercise in off road driving and need to be taken slow.

The campground is small, with six sites and are first come, first serve. There really isn’t a bad spot.

We had a light wind which kept bugs at bay and there were stacks of firewood from downed trees everywhere so bring an ax and chop your own firewood.

Small campground, Great Lake

Compared to nearby campgrounds, it’s smaller which I like because there are less people. Not a lot of bugs.

Mid-July = Bugs

I camped here two nights on the ends of a backpacking trip. Lots of sites and lots of people. No water other than what’s at the lake. We also had a lot of bugs, mostly mosquitos. Great view of Mt Adams and a nice trail around the lake. The camp host was not super friendly either. Generally speaking the campground had a weird vibe.

First to Review
Quiet and simple

I stayed here the night before a midweek holiday and had the entire campground to myself. Its a dry camp so you’ll need your own water and they have basic outhouses.
