Best RV Parks & Resorts near Topanga, CA

Several RV parks near Topanga provide full hookup options for travelers. Malibu Beach RV Park offers electric, water, and sewer connections with ocean views, though sites can feel cramped during peak periods. Hollywood RV Park accommodates long-term stays with full amenities and is known for its decorative murals throughout the grounds. Thousand Trails Soledad Canyon features big-rig friendly sites with 50-amp service, though the campground layout is extensive and certain sections may have limited cell coverage. Castaic Lake RV Park provides 30/50-amp service in a more natural setting with trees and bushes, though navigation can be challenging for larger vehicles. "The RV sites are pretty close together but the full hookups makes it really nice," noted one visitor about their first motorhome camping experience.

Advance reservations are strongly recommended for most parks in the region, particularly during summer and holiday weekends. Many facilities offer propane filling services on-site, with Thousand Trails Soledad Canyon providing refills at $2.99 per gallon according to a recent review. Cell service varies significantly between locations, with stronger signals generally available at parks closer to urban areas. Pet policies differ between facilities, with most allowing pets but some charging additional fees. Dump stations are available at most parks, though some charge separate fees for this service. RV length restrictions apply at several parks, with Malibu Beach RV Park limiting vehicles to 40 feet including hitches. Travelers with larger rigs should specifically request pull-through sites when available to avoid difficult backing maneuvers in tighter parks.

Anaheim RV Park - PERMANENTLY CLOSED

Disney Camping - Clean, Pool, Very Nice Restrooms/Showers

Anaheim RV Resort is close to Disney and is on the Anaheim Resort Transportation (ART) bus route. They have full hook up sites and room for large rigs - back-in and pull through. They are very pet friendly and even have a dog walking/feeding service (for an extra fee). There is a small pool and hot tub. The restrooms/showers and newly remodeled and very nice! Sites are all level and fairly large. We've stayed here 4 times and will be back again!

Lots of trees, biking and hiking trails, fishing area, beautiful views, very peaceful, family friendly, pet friendly, the C9 RV spot was very spacious, I also liked the A & B area. Not every site has a fire pit. Definitely coming back again.

    Bolsa Chica State Beach Campground

    Bolsa Chica State Beach

The 4 stars is primarily for location. This is essentially a parking lot with power and water. We had a beach front space (B035) with a decent sized palm tree. The only one I really saw. The spaces aren’t huge so if you have a big rig or large trailer it will be tight. Most trailers parked their tow vehicle perpendicular to the space and some barely fit. There is no privacy, the small concrete area is shared with your neighbors as is the entrance to the beach side. People watching at the boardwalk is amazing. There is live music at the beach bars nearby which was cool. Definitely bring bike. There isn’t a lot within walking distance but downtown Huntington Beach and the pier is just a couple miles away.

    Waterfront RV Park

    Great place by the beach

Your not on the beach but literally on the other side of pacific coast highway you are there. They have smaller options for travel trailers with power hook ups only and pull through and back in sites available with full hook ups. They have a great pool, maintained laundry rooms bathrooms and showers separated by men and woman for that privacy you need. Overall an incredible rv park and very impressed by it being well kept and clean. Not to mention close to the beach

Thornhill Broome Beach — Point Mugu State Park

    Beach camping on PCH!

Spent 3 nights here and absolutely loved it. Campground has trash, porta-potties, and appeared to have potable spigots but didn't confirm. Verizon service was hit or miss, but with a booster it was usable. Nice fire rings and picnic tables. Only downside was highway noise, but the surf drowned out all but big-rigs. Saw dolphins and seals back to back days! We're so glad we went, and if we pass by again we will be staying for sure!

    Orangeland RV Park

    Location!

Stay here every year for dance competitions in Anaheim and Garden Grove. Very reasonable prices for the area. Anaheim transit makes on-demand stops her to Disneyland as well as Garden Walk. Very helpful, friendly staff. Many residents mixed with overnight era or vacationers.

    Pros:

    • The price for the area is worth it!
    • Amazing staff.
    • Free citrus picking!
    • Pool, mini golf on site.
    • Incredibly creak restrooms and showers.
    • Camp store.
    • On-demand public transport for $6/person for all-day access.
    • Walking distance to Big Ed and Honda Center.
    • Along Santa Ana River Trail path that connects beach to San Bernardino Mts.
    • Security at night.
    • Dog runs (kinda stinky, though)
    • Back-in and pull-thru sites (I’d try to stay closer to Struck and the western side)
    • Rules are there to keep things nice and safe.
    • Good wifi

    Cons:

    • Stinky dog runs
    • Street racing nearby at night. Every time.

    Tapo Canyon Park

Clean and quiet, except for the birds

This is a very nice campground near everything but still away from it all. No issues parking our 42' 5th wheel here. Clean and quiet despite the peacocks. They can be rather loud when startled. I swear they could hear my morning alarm and squawked their disapproval. The camp host Shawn is AMAZING! Bathrooms are very clean. Showers are coin operated. DO NOT expect cell service. I could only work from this spot by placing my mobile HomeFi router on top of the camper. Our Verizon phones were paper weights. Make sure your reservations are complete online before arriving. The Rangers check the spots multiple times a week. The kids enjoyed the playground and fields. It's not uncommon to see and hear movie/TV production crews at the filming locations along the road. Pet friendly but be careful at night. Mountain lions were spotted while there.

    Lake Piru Recreation Area

    Lovely get away

Close to town but no cell signal, this place is amazing! Large camping area and I’ve never felt crowded ! Quarter showers and laundry, and a dog park! Lots of deer in the area and Great Lake to fish at! They also offer some hook ups for the rv campers

Guide to Topanga

Many RV campgrounds near Topanga, California are located within 20-30 miles of this Santa Monica Mountains community. The terrain varies significantly between coastal options and inland valley locations. Temperature differentials between these areas can exceed 15°F during summer months, with inland campgrounds regularly reaching 95-100°F while coastal sites remain in the 70s.

What to do

Beach access: 5-minute ride. At Ventura Beach RV Resort, campers can easily reach the ocean. "Beach is 5min bike ride either way out of the resort. Great sunsets!!!!" notes one visitor. The resort offers concrete pads with grass areas and individual fire pits.

Hiking trails: Multiple difficulty levels. Frank G. Bonelli Regional Park offers various outdoor activities beyond standard camping. "There is camping, horseback riding, fishing, trails, biking, hiking, picnics, you can use your jet skies in designated areas, swimming on the pool areas, kayaking, Park for kids and plenty more," according to a review of Bonelli Bluffs.

Wildlife viewing: Wetlands access. Military personnel staying at Seal Beach have nature opportunities within the base. "Wetlands on the base and birds galore," mentions one reviewer of the military-only facility. This protected area provides habitat for numerous coastal bird species.

What campers like

Ocean views from elevated sites. Malibu Beach RV Park offers premium vistas from its cliffside location. "Every spot has a great view of the Pacific Ocean from high upon a cliff! General store is well stocked and there's a park to lounge or play games on the cliffs edge!" describes one camper.

Themed art displays. Hollywood RV Park features distinctive decorative elements throughout the grounds. "Every street is themed with murals and art everywhere! The site size depends on where you are in the park. Most of it is an affordable community for locals to live," explains one reviewer who noted the unexpected atmosphere.

Proximity to attractions. Campgrounds in the region provide strategic access to popular destinations. "We stayed here to be close to the Hollywood Bowl for a concert. Rafael was a friendly host and very helpful and made sure we were set up well," reports one camper about a small RV park in West Hollywood.

What you should know

Airport noise levels vary significantly. Some campgrounds experience regular aircraft traffic. At Dockweiler Beach RV Park, planes from LAX are a constant presence. "The downsides are that it is basically parking lot camping and you are directly under the LAX flight path which means large and noisy keys overhead all day long. For us, the pros outweighed the cons."

Train disruptions at certain locations. Railroad tracks impact sleep quality at some campgrounds. "It's very very close to railroad tracks and at night the loud train kept waking us up," warns one camper about Thousand Trails Soledad Canyon.

Traffic noise from highways. Several campgrounds sit near major roadways. "It is close to the 101 freeway, you can hear the traffic, but that didn't bother us. Just be aware, it's not a super quiet place," explains a visitor to Ventura Beach RV Resort.

Tips for camping with families

Pool restrictions: Reserve time during peak periods. During busy seasons, some facilities implement scheduling systems. "During COVID you need to reserve your time at the pool," notes a camper about one oceanside facility.

Kid-friendly programming: Check schedules. Thousand Trails Soledad Canyon offers organized activities but with limitations. "The only good thing was the Saturday activities. However if you have older kids forget it! The activities are for ages 5-7 maybe! They did have a movie night the last night we were there."

Security considerations: Coded bathroom access. Safety measures vary between parks. "The bathrooms have a lock and code needed for entry," explains a visitor to Malibu Beach RV Park, noting this feature provides additional security for families.

Tips from RVers

Parking assistance available. Some parks help with difficult maneuvers. "Steve the owner is amazing and the team will take your rig on a forklift to your site and fully set you up," reports a visitor to Hollywood RV Park, describing an unusual but helpful service.

Site selection strategy. Choosing the right section of a campground can significantly impact experience. "We stayed down near the welcome center instead of Lot N and the experience didn't even seem like the same RV Park. No loud music, no barking dog, less dust, and dirt," advises a return visitor to Castaic Lake RV Park.

Size restrictions more strict than listed. Many parks have practical limitations beyond stated policies. "For a 43 footer this place is TIGHT. If you have a big rig, prolly not the best idea. But if you have a 28 footer, this place is Six Stars!!!!" warns one RVer about navigating Castaic Lake RV Park.
