Best Campgrounds near Goshen, CA

Campgrounds near Goshen, California provide a mix of developed and primitive camping experiences throughout the San Joaquin Valley and surrounding foothills. Several established RV resorts and campgrounds operate in the region, including Visalia-Sequoia National Park KOA, Kings River RV Resort, and Lindy's Landing and Campground. These facilities generally accommodate both tent and RV camping, with some locations also offering cabin rentals or glamping options. Most campgrounds are situated within a 30-mile radius of Goshen, providing convenient access to nearby attractions like Sequoia National Park.

Road conditions and facilities vary significantly between campgrounds in the area. Many established campgrounds offer full hookups for RVs including water, electric, and sewer connections. The region experiences hot, dry summers and mild winters, making year-round camping possible at most locations. "The park is now RV only with no tent camping," noted one camper about Lindy's Landing, highlighting how campground policies can change over time. Travelers should confirm current amenities and restrictions before arrival, as several campgrounds have specific vehicle size limitations or seasonal policy changes. Cell service is generally reliable throughout the valley floor, but connectivity may decrease in foothill locations.

Campground experiences in the Goshen area frequently center around water access, with several sites located along the Kings River offering fishing, swimming, and boating opportunities. Campers seeking proximity to Sequoia National Park should be aware that despite names suggesting closeness, some campgrounds are a considerable drive from park entrances. A visitor to Visalia-Sequoia National Park KOA remarked, "A bit disappointing to find that it is quite a drive to get to the parks. The name is deceiving." Most developed campgrounds in the region provide basic amenities including drinking water, restrooms, and trash services. Site privacy varies considerably, with many RV-oriented campgrounds featuring closely spaced sites with minimal separation, while locations in Three Rivers tend to offer more natural surroundings and shade from oak trees and riparian vegetation.

    Almond Tree Oasis RV Park

    Ok for a quick stop

We stopped here for one night. Cute place, clean and well maintained but very tight spots. We got a large pull through and barely fit in with our 37’ class A. Only about 6ft to the next “yard”.

Only 1 working shower and toilet.

Dog park was basically a mud run… definitely not what I would call a dog run.

Not far off the hwy and quiet. Gas station/convenience store beside it.

Sunset Campground — Kings Canyon National Park

    I'll never go back

First, there was no sign on the road pointing out the entrance so I drove right by it and had to come back.  I reserved my site 6 months in advance on recreation.gov and received my discount as my pass is on file.  I arrived on a Monday and it was a madhouse.  Every site had occupants and the sites were very close together.  There were a lot of kids which is nice to see however they were kids and wanted to run and play.  The problem is you couldn't go 5 steps without being in someone else's campsite.  I felt sorry for them.  There was no privacy at all.  The campground has standard amenities, no showers and the bathrooms were old but decently kept.  I took my trailer and had plenty of room for it and my car on the asphalt driveway.  The site itself was dirt.  Bear boxes are provided.  The store, restaurant and visitor center were just up the road, easily walkable from camp, and there were some nice trails to take from camp.  I was able to hike from camp to the Grant Grove.  By Wednesday the camp had cleared out so that was the best day and night.  Of course, it started all over again on Thursday!  It's about an hour and a half drive from camp to the General Sherman tree area.  One other note.  If you are reliant on solar power as I am, this is not a good campground as the trees are not only numerous but tall so reliable sun available all day while you're away is non existent.  I had to buy ice and put it in my fridge to keep my food cool.

Colonel Allensworth State Historic Park Campground

    Level, Quiet, Sparsely Attended

Sparsely visited State Park. Level paved roads through-out. Easy to walk and bike to scattered re-built buildings that are well signed. Two campers here on a Sunday night out of 15 no-hookup ($20) and 2 hook-up (water/sewer/30A) ($30) sites. Dump station is $10. Good restrooms and showers. Paved sites with concrete picnic tables and BBQs.

    Tenmile Road Camping Area

    Beautiful

Incredibly beautiful area in nature. Unfortunately a bit a small trash from others. I’ve been there in July, Sept, & Oct. Many spots for fires (need permit). Perfect spot for enjoying Sandy Cove at Hume Lake.

    Forest Rd 14S29

    Alright place

We actually didn’t stay primarily because this spot absolutely did not have any cell coverage whatsoever (this app said it had some coverage for Verizon. It did 100% not. We couldn’t find a suitable place for tent and some of it looked like private property and/or reserved camping areas. Definitely more suitable if you have a RV or a built out van.

    Three Rivers Hideaway

    Like a glove

This campground is super comfortable. I’m not sure why but it just feels right. Park staff very friendly. We had a nice site and plenty of campside room. I felt like I was in my neighbors site when I had to dump my tanks. The sewage hookup was right in front of his steps. The laundry is your standard $2 per load but the is only one washer and one dryer. Sequoia entrance is about 4 miles, but the trees are an hour up into the hills. Kings canyon is 2.5 hours. But it’s worth it. A bunch of restaurants nearby and the Village Market is a real grocery store. Great location.

Potwisha Campground — Sequoia National Park

    Happy Campers

This campground is at the base of the park on the south end.  It can get warm there in summer months.  Rangers were nice.  Wildlife came through camp.  We saw deer and quail each day.

Full campsite each night.  Busy place.

    www.hitched4fun.com crew was happy here.
