Buckskin is another favorite if you don’t mind the heat but want to be within walking distance to the water. The river is extremely busy during the summer months. You can swim close to shore but can’t swim across the river as you’ll get ran over. Great beach areas to beach boats and play in the water for the kids. We stayed in 57 which was close to the dump station but wasn’t busy until Sunday at check out time. There is a dog park on site. Cell phone service is terrible. (Verizon). The resturant and store recently closed. As well as the gas station. We heard that on the California side there was a newer site opening and an arcade but never checked it out.
Great way to afford enjoying Lake Havasu. Note this is an Arizona State Park so daily vehicle rates do apply if just visiting and/or camping. Located on the east side of Lake Havasu side in Arizona state border. California to the west separated by the Colorado River/Lake Havasu. Lake Havasu City is 19 miles away and the Parker strip is 8 miles away (Lake Havasu separated by the Parker Dam). Remember you're camping in a hot, dry desert climate and limited shade as only palm trees and small shrubs. Campground has showers and restrooms as well as RV dump station. If you're looking for a place to enjoy Lake Havasu, lounging in the water or boating, highly recommend Cattail Cove State Park. A little more remote than right in the city.
After driving through Havasu City this was a welcome oasis from the traffic and strip malls. The campground is on a slope so bring your leveling skills. The trees here are well established & provide lots of natural shade. There are even citrus trees with fruit that is almost ready to pick. Restrooms/showers are clean. Campsites are raked after every camper vacates. Our campsite was on the inside of the loop so we had neighbors behind us and on both sides.
This is a great location for kayaking. We put in from the boat launch and paddled up the shoreline and across to California. You are also within 15 to 20 minutes of Bill Williams Wildlife Refuge for kayaking and River Island SP & Buckskin Mountain SP for hiking.
Only two things bothered me during our 2 week stay and that was the dogs barking and the exterior lights left on the RVs all night. Seems like a dark sky policy would solve that problem.
Just another beautiful AZ state park. We will definitely return.
Cattail cove was another Havasu Campground my family frequented from 1984 to 2000 It has awesome memories of hiking along the red rocks and lake, following wild Ram through the mountainsides and finding great cliff-jumping spots into the refreshing waters in summer heats. It DOES get very hot here in the summer, so be prepared. I have been during a record 132-degree days. You stay in the water and dont get out under some shade!
Excellent swimming areas. Good docks for your boats- but make sure you have some good bouis so you dont get any damage. The restaurant / bar used to be really good. In 2012 we visited it and it was not great... but we didnt get sick. Functional store. Gas available for your boat or vehicle. Clean nice bathrooms. OK Campgrounds... clean, more-so meant for motorhomes however some pretty good tent sites in the valley area.
At night bring out your black light and look for scorpions. You'd never even know they were there if you were enjoying the night sky on the jetty. Awesome wildlife and nature. While wild burros / donkeys are more predominant on the California side of the lake you'd still be likely to see some. Skunks. Bats. Owls. Hawks. Rams, snakes (rattlers, king snakes, gophers and more though the campground maintenance is pretty good about keeping it safe). Great large mouth bass fishing, catfish and other species, crawdads, and other fun finds. I used to enjoy skin diving near the cliffs there and in coves.
We’ve stayed here several times. They have tons of spots for RV’s but they also have cottages you can rent if you don’t have an RV or have extra people visiting with you. It’s hot in the summer but the river is right there to jump in and stay cool. They also have 2 pools near the tiki bar and that’s where we spent a lot of time with the kids. Their food is good and very affordable. So are the drinks. Karaoke in the evenings is fun and it’s nice to have a store to buy ice etc. I would stay here again.
It’s overall a decent place with lots of amenities and things for kids to do. Rv Sites were just too close together and it’s dirt and there was some trash. It’s great for those with boats and OHV’s. there is water and a beach to swim. You have to have a membership to stay or be invited as a guest. They do have full hookups and a dog beach so pets are welcome. Be prepared for lots of noise and activity because it’s a busy place. Be sure to say hi to the donkeys that wander throughout the grounds.
This was on the Colorado River so it was pretty great. We were here in July and it was HOT! I mean HOT! There are no shaded spots either so our RV was running the AC non stop. They BBQ food you can buy by the plate. There are 2 pool and a tiki bar to buy snaks and alcohol. The pools and bar are shaded. There is a store also. I would definitely stay here again. Loved it!
This is a membership park, you get 3 free nights stay but have to attend a 90 minute sales presentation. This is a nice park if you have jet skis a boat or ORV. They have great restrooms, a store, pool and restaurant bar.
We absolutely loved the Emerald Cove resort. They have roomy RV pull-through spots. A short walk from the Colorado River for all your water activities. The staff was helpful. There are some wild burros that stroll around at night and we found them dumping on our mat in the morning. Make sure to block your area off with chairs so they don't poop on your stuff. It can get hot. Their wifi was not bad when Verizon devices weren't keeping up. Miniature golf, arcade, poker room, darts, and overall an awesome site. It is a membership site, but if you check out their presentation you get hooked up.
Very roomy sites close enough to the water. Clean and we'll run park with a lot amenities. The only downfall is it's like a timeshare. We got a free visit but needed to listen to the sales pitch for a couple of hours.
I booked our first trip in our new rv to Emerald Cove for 4th of July. We were sent to the very last space far left at the edge of the campground. The furthest away from bathrooms, showers, store, snack bar, pool, beach, everything! The beachfront spaces were all occupied. But so was the walkways to the water! The spaces reserved as access for all campers to get to the water were filled with cars, tents, people, even though these were clearly marked as walk ways and no parking or any other was allowed. We couldn't even get to the water! Staff did not enforce fair access. Worse, the next camper close to us had a 4 seat razor. Since there was a few spaces between us that were vacant they decided to use the area as a raceway and drove their off road razor vehicle whipping around our camp kicking up dust, dirt and rocks that even flew into us hitting us. I first approached the other campers and asked them nicely to stop driving their OFV wicked fast around us that we were being struck by rocks. They didn't stop. I reached out to the staff who did nothing. We were so unsafe with the vehicle driving around us doing broadies, that we packed up and left within the first 24 hours. We had a 4 day reservation. I phoned the office to let them we had just left and why...they couldn't care less. We will never return here.
The sites are very close together with nothing to separate your site from the next, more specifically, nothing to separate your neighbors septic hose from being the first thing you see and smell when you step out of your door. The bathrooms are cute and decent. Price at the tiki bar was fantastic and the karaoke nights on weekends was very fun. The kids love to swim at the pool at night and watch karaoke. The kids club was nice to have and I actually enjoyed sitting in there with the kids doing crafts. I did not eat at the tiki bar so I can't see anything about that food.
Would i stay here again. Not unless it was all that was available. It's the equivalent of a decently run Motel 6. Everyone there was very nice there's nothing wrong with it per se but I also know there's nicer places that are similarly-priced
This is the main campground for CRA, Colorado River Adventures, membership campground. Well Over hundred gravel pull through sites. Think the only back in sites are the ones that back up to the Colorado River. There are two covered pools to hot tubs, a kids one foot deep splash pool. A bar with Cafe grilled with great food for breakfast, lunch and dinners. Kids clubhouse, playground, miniature golf. Nicely stocked Camp store. Boat launch ramp into ColoradoRiver. Full hookups. Down side was if your not in or on the Water it was hot. Was there last October for two nights and was very warm in hi 90's but this time was 115° to 120°
Although campsites are close together, there are many spots for friend groups to park near each other. Walking distance to the river. Walking distance to nearby bar/restaurant. Very friendly and clean area!
Great service and super welcoming campground was clean and close to warer
Good fishing. There is a boat ramp and swimming area. Hiking trail available. General store.
it has full hookups hot showers a lot if grassy areas to hang out
Bbeautiful campground with lots of grassy areas right on the Colorado River. So.very enjoyable and peaceful. Lots of water sports. Would definitely camp there again.
Buckskin is an amazing park. We have tent camped and RV camped there. Hookups and restrooms are great. The showers are also nice. The best part is, you’re on the Colorado River!!! There are 2 beaches, one you can beach your boat and another that has a designated swimming area. (If you plan on leaving your boat overnight, anchor out about 10-20 feet from shore. The water level drops a few feet at night.) they are also planning to remodel the closed restaurant on site. This is a very friendly family environment.
We spent the weekend at this state park in site 49. The site was large with water and 50 amps. There was also a fire pit and it was paved and level. There is free wifi but we couldn’t connect from the site. It’s just a short walk though and it was fast. There is a camp store with ice cream, firewood and other necessities and a cute cactus garden and tortoise habitat.
We spent a great deal of time in the water as it was 100 degrees. The ranger warned us to stay on the side of the river as the speed boats are fast and don’t look! We did as he said and had a blast.
The only negative is that the water from the hookups smelled. We took showers and it had the smell of sewer. I’m not sure what that is about but after a day in the sand you need a shower!

First of all I want to say we stayed at this campground in the end of May and it was hotter than Hades! The park is beautiful. It's right on the Colorado River. We stayed in site 52 and we were across from the restaurant/store. They had pizza and beer, what more can you ask for. Our lot had a huge shade tree, however in 112 temps, it didn't help to keep us that cool. We paid $35 for water and electric. There was a a picnic table and firepit (no way usable in 100 degree weather) But they did sell firewood. Your steps away from the cool river, if you wanted to sit in the water. Lots and lots of boats up and down the river. They didn't seem to care about speed limits, so it could get noisy during the day. I would love to go back during the winter/spring months. Dish satellite and Verizon both worked well. I will definitely go back, but when it's much cooler.
Nice and quiet park. Not a lot of actual beachfront but water access was easy enough for swimming. The rv spots had great shade need a full sewer hook up for my likening but had a good time.
Buckskin State Park was perfect for our weekend getaway. The park was clean and the layout was easy to get around. The scenery is beautiful. We’ll definitely be returning.
Buckskin is a great campground on the Colorado River. There’s a little swimming area that’s cordon off from all the boaters that you can enjoy. There’s a store that sells ice cream and various camping supplies. There’s also a number of RV spots that are shaded by trees. This is a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle and just enjoy a relaxing few days on the river.
