Several RV parks dot the landscape around Brandeis, California, providing varied options for motorhome travelers. Hollywood RV Park stands out with a 4.7-star rating and features beautiful murals throughout the property, making it particularly well-suited for long-term stays according to reviewers. Nearby, Walnut RV Park in Northridge accommodates big rigs with full hookup sites including 50-amp electrical service, though fires are not permitted on the premises. For those willing to travel slightly farther, Thousand Trails Soledad Canyon in Acton operates year-round with big-rig friendly sites offering full hookups including 50-amp service. "This place is huge!" noted one RV owner who stayed in Section N, mentioning that "full 30 Amp hookups, great cell service (T-Mobile & Verizon), and a great sunset view" were available there.

Seasonal considerations affect RV camping availability throughout the region. While Thousand Trails Soledad Canyon remains open year-round, many parks fill quickly during peak travel seasons, making advance reservations essential. Cell service varies significantly between locations - Soledad Canyon has strong coverage in certain sections but weak or nonexistent service in others. Most RV parks in the area are pet-friendly, though some impose breed or size restrictions. Dump stations are available at most locations, with Hollywood RV Park, Walnut RV Park, and Malibu Beach RV Park all offering on-site sanitary dump facilities. Propane refill service is available at select locations, with one reviewer noting Soledad Canyon offers propane at $2.99 per gallon. Navigation can be challenging for larger rigs at certain parks - Castaic Lake RV Park was described by one visitor as "TIGHT" for 43-foot motorhomes but "Six Stars" for smaller 28-foot units.

Thornhill Broome Beach — Point Mugu State Park

    Beach camping on PCH!

Spent 3 nights here and absolutely loved it. Campground has trash, porta-potties, and appeared to have potable spigots but didn't confirm. Verizon service was hit or miss, but with a booster it was usable. Nice fire rings and picnic tables. Only downside was highway noise, but the surf drowned out all but big-rigs. Saw dolphins and seals back to back days! We're so glad we went, and if we pass by again we will be staying for sure!

Santa Cruz Campground — Carpinteria State Beach

    Carpinteria State Beach Campground

Carpinteria State Beach Campground is a one of our frequently visited “staycation” spots. We live in nearby Santa Barbara, but will use Carp State Beach as a midway meeting point when friends from Southern California and Central California meet up.

The campground is pretty large, and caters mostly to RVs and trailers. There are loops within the campground that are essentially just asphalt lots with small dirt spaces for fire pits and picnic benches - these are intended for RV campers, but we have tent camped there in a pinch. Since we are tent campers we do prefer to camp in the grassy tent sites, but they are limited in number and tend fill up quickly. Because of the moderate year-round weather, Carpinteria State Beach Campground stays pretty full all year long!

The campground has full hook ups, clean plumed bathrooms, and coin-operated showers. There are grocery stores and conscience stores within short walking distance for anything you might need. Train tracks run directly behind the campground, so there is some noise pollution from the passing trains.

The campground is at the very end of downtown Carpinteria, right next to the ocean. There are no “ocean front” sites, but the beach is a quick 1-minute walk from essentially anywhere in the campground. Some small sandy dunes separate the campground from the beach, and there is an accessible paved boardwalk running along the length of the dunes. There are beautiful tide pools just south of Carpinteria State Beach Campground that are a must see. Check the tide charts on the internet to visit the tide pools at low to mid tide.

While we really enjoy camp cooking, we tend to opt to walk into town to eat when camping in Carpinteria. Linden Avenue is right next to the campground, and is the main street in downtown Carpinteria. There is a wide variety of restaurants, breweries and coffee shops downtown. Island Brewery CO is a local favorite just on the edge of the campground - while I don’t think they have food available (yet), their beer is GREAT! Their avocado beer is a must try - I know it sounds weird, but it’s delicious (and doesn’t taste like avocados)! Rincon Brewery is a few blocks up from the campground, and also has great beer, and TASTY FOOD!

    Tapo Canyon Park

Clean and quiet, except for the birds

This is a very nice campground near everything but still away from it all. No issues parking our 42' 5th wheel here. Clean and quiet despite the peacocks. They can be rather loud when startled. I swear they could hear my morning alarm and squawked their disapproval. The camp host Shawn is AMAZING! Bathrooms are very clean. Showers are coin operated. DO NOT expect cell service. I could only work from this spot by placing my mobile HomeFi router on top of the camper. Our Verizon phones were paper weights. Make sure your reservations are complete online before arriving. The Rangers check the spots multiple times a week. The kids enjoyed the playground and fields. It's not uncommon to see and hear movie/TV production crews at the filming locations along the road. Pet friendly but be careful at night. Mountain lions were spotted while there.

    Kenney Grove Park

    Small but peaceful

Ok, so first off driving into this place feels a little "Texas Chainsaw" but don't worry, its fine. When I saw regional park I was expecting something way bigger however this is about the size of a small city park that turned its parking lot into a campground. None the less, we had a very pleasant stay. It was nice and quite despite it being Fourth of July weekend and we even had a few friendly bats fly around us. The playground was a bunch of old metal pieces that looked like you would surely break a leg so naturally my 2 and 4 year old LOVED it. LOL. Its in a great location with close drive to Ventura and Pismo beaches. Would definitely stay here again for a quick getaway.

Oh and note, the full hook up sites are for Model A's (stayed at 56). So hook ups are on the opposite side and really close to the "entrance" so we couldnt back in, we had to parking our towing vehicle in the general parking area. We had our small travel trailer and thank God we had a 40 ft sewer hose.

Santa Cruz Campground — Carpinteria State Beach

    Best Annual Trips

My family has been camping here for 50+ years... should say enough! Best camping trip (with family, friends, solo, whatever!) you’ll have, safe area, very accessible. Bathrooms have power outlets, token-powered hot showers, and super close to town. Make sure you pack your food away at night.... raccoons are present!

Foster Park Campground - TEMPORARILY CLOSED

    Worth every penny

Being that we chose this camp site last minute is a total score. Large sites, full hookup options and 10 minutes from the beach. Camp host were very nice and accommodating. Some sites are close to the 33 highway so you will have road noise but we are used to Rincon. There is tent camping in the higher sites. Covered with plenty of mature trees for nice shade. Clean restrooms but no showers. Campground is very close to the Ojai-Ventura bike trail. Hiking trails all over and did I say 10 minutes from the beach!!! We stayed with our 2 toddlers/teen and had a blast. Only odd thing is that some sites hookups are backwards. No biggie. We just ran our lines under our rig. We would definitely stay here again.

RV parks around Brandeis, California offer overnight accommodations within driving distance of Los Angeles attractions while providing necessary hookups for motorhomes of various sizes. Located in the San Fernando Valley with elevations ranging from 900-1,100 feet, the area experiences hot, dry summers with temperatures often exceeding 90°F and mild winters. Most RV facilities in this region prohibit wood fires due to high wildfire danger during summer and fall months.

What to do

Explore nearby beaches: Malibu Beach RV Park provides oceanfront camping with easy access to multiple beach areas. One visitor noted, "It's perfectly situated in between the Malibu pier area (to your left) Dume, Zuma, and more beaches (to the right), + a lovely small beach across the street."

Visit Hollywood attractions: Hollywood RV Park puts you close to major film studios and tourist sites. A guest commented, "We took an uber. If you stay on the West side of the city it's okay (still 50/60 USD) for a single ride. But If you want to explore any of the nicer beaches like manhattan Beach I do suggest to take the campervan, park at one of the malls in that area and then take an uber from there."

Enjoy on-base recreation: Point Mugu Recreation Facility offers unique amenities for military personnel. "The beach is on the base, and has a protected wetland and then shooting range on one side then on the other is the base itself, so this beach is really JUST for those staying on the base or campground," explained one reviewer.

What campers like

Themed park environments: Hollywood RV Park offers distinctive decor that many guests appreciate. "Every street is themed with murals and art everywhere! The site size depends on where you are in the park. Most of it is an affordable community for locals to live," mentioned one camper.

Gated security: Golden Shore RV Resort provides enhanced security measures for urban camping. A visitor observed, "This park is close to the action in Long Beach. Easily walkable or there are always E bikes and scooters to rent right outside the gate. Also, really appreciated that this RV park was gated. Felt safe and secure the whole time I was here."

Wildlife viewing opportunities: Thousand Trails Soledad Canyon offers natural surroundings despite its proximity to urban areas. One camper noted, "From my favorite the Jet black Ravens, rabbits, coyotes, and interesting botany there are plenty of creatures to aww and be thankful for."

What you should know

Internet connectivity varies: Reliable internet access is inconsistent at many RV parks near Brandeis. At Californian RV Resort, one guest reported, "They list that there's WiFi but I was close to the office and was never able to connect."

Urban noise factors: Proximity to highways and airports affects some RV parks. At Hollywood RV Park, a reviewer noted, "The park is right next to the departure/arrival runway for Burbank and so if you don't fancy airplanes, you may not appreciate the noise."

Space limitations: Many RV parks have tight spacing between sites. At Ventura Beach RV Resort, a camper observed, "Every open space is filled and so tight I had to back out of a pull thru space because road was to narrow to make the turn pulling forward."

Tips for camping with families

Beach access amenities: Malibu Beach RV Park offers family-friendly features near the ocean. "Perfect weekend getaway for the family! Loved the store and how close to the beach this place was," reported one visitor.

Pool availability: Several RV parks include swimming pools for children during hot weather. At Golden Shore RV Resort, guests note that "The pool, showers, bathrooms are all spotless," making it suitable for family use.

Base facilities for military families: Fairways RV Resort provides additional recreation options on base. "There are parks located throughout the base and the bowling alley is super cheap for unlimited bowling. There is a movie theater on site but limited on how many movies are showing," explained a military family.

Tips from RVers

Parking assistance: Some parks offer help with difficult parking situations. At Hollywood RV Park, one RV owner explained, "Steve the owner is amazing and the team will take your rig on a forklift to your site and fully set you up."

Utility reliability concerns: During peak usage, electrical systems may become strained. At Ventura Beach RV Resort, an RVer noted, "There were so many people running their AC that my surge protector kept shutting off on 'low current' below 104 voltes."

Site selection strategy: At Thousand Trails Soledad Canyon, location within the park significantly affects experience. One guest advised, "This trip we stayed down near the welcome center instead of Lot N and the experience didn't even seem like the same RV Park. No loud music, no barking dog, less dust, and dirt."
