Best RV Parks & Resorts near Wrightwood, CA

Several RV parks provide options near Wrightwood in the San Bernardino Mountains. Rancho Jurupa RV Park in Riverside features full hookups with 50-amp electric service, concrete pads, and well-maintained grass areas between sites. Bonelli Bluffs in San Dimas accommodates large motorhomes with pull-through RV pads, 50-amp electrical hookups, and sewer connections. Skypark Camp RV Resort offers both 30 and 50-amp service on smaller sites with limited big rig access. Thousand Trails Soledad Canyon maintains year-round availability with spacious RV sites that include water, electric, and sewer hookups. "Campsites are kind of close and there's not much shade, but the kindness of staff and the fact their showers and bathrooms are clean makes up for it."

Within the mountain areas, road access varies significantly by season. Winter conditions frequently close Blue Ridge Trail Road and other routes to higher elevation RV parks, particularly from November through April. Most RV sites require advance reservations during summer and fall weekends when spaces fill quickly. Dump stations are available at Rancho Jurupa, Bonelli Bluffs, and Fairplex RV Park in Pomona, though some parks offer full-hookup sites with sewer connections at each pad. A recent review noted that "this campground may have been renovated recently by the looks of it" when describing Rancho Jurupa's Cottonwood section with its paved sites and grassy areas. Cell service remains reliable at lower elevation parks but becomes spotty in canyon locations. Most parks enforce quiet hours beginning at 10:00 PM, with gated access providing additional security.

Anaheim RV Park - PERMANENTLY CLOSED

Disney Camping - Clean, Pool, Very Nice Restrooms/Showers

Anaheim RV Resort is close to Disney and is on the Anaheim Resort Transportation (ART) bus route. They have full hook up sites and room for large rigs - back-in and pull through. They are very pet friendly and even have a dog walking/feeding service (for an extra fee). There is a small pool and hot tub. The restrooms/showers and newly remodeled and very nice! Sites are all level and fairly large. We've stayed here 4 times and will be back again!

Lots of trees, biking and hiking trails, fishing area, beautiful views, very peaceful, family friendly, pet friendly, the C9 RV spot was very spacious, I also liked the A & B area. Not every site has a fire pit. Definitely coming back again.

Mountain Lakes Resort - Membership Campground

    Great family friendly place

My wife and I have been coming up here for years. We used to use her parents fifth wheel or use a cabin but recently purchased our own travel trailer. Now we come up here with our kids and I can’t say enough about how family friendly it is.

    Pineknot

Pineknot Campground, Big Bear Lake, Ca

A bit challenging to locate via Google Maps... Just go up (south) Summit Blvd, when you get to the parking lot of the ski resort, veer towards the left, and just past a concrete wall, you'll see the little Pineknot Campground sign attached to an aluminium pole. The campground is very cozy, countless tall pine trees, clean bathrooms, clean sites, water from taps, no hookups, and not for big rigs. The hosts are friendly, but strict! No generators from 8 pm to 8 am, a $3000 fine if your campfire is left unattended, and no rowdy obnoxious behavior is tolerated! We appreciated the rules, and thoroughly enjoyed our peaceful, quiet, deep in the woods getaway!!

    Bonita Ranch Campground

    Just ok overall

Needed somewhere fairly close to home to take my new to us motorhome. Sites were decent size but fairly close together so don’t expect a lot of privacy. Sites interspersed among long term residents. Hookups water and electric at each site. Some shade, trails to riverbed currently mostly dry and Bonita falls about 25 minute walk over river rock. Fire rings available to rent for $5. The biggest issue I had was our electric went out to our loop at about 7:30pm…luckily we are self contained…it still had not been restored when we left the next day at noonish. The lights to the office area and restrooms was still on (thankfully) but not the camp sites.

Cabin Flat Trail Campground - CLOSED

    Difficult to reach, very primitive

We stayed at Cabin Flat several years ago, and it's one of the most difficult campgrounds to reach near Wrightwood in the Angeles National Forest. To get here, you need to take the Blue Ridge Trail Road from Inspiration Point off of Highway 2. This road is closed during the winter, as it traverses through Mountain High Ski Resort. That said, the campground itself is very basic. I would not recommend bringing an RV here as the dirt road to get down is winding and bumpy. Tent camping only.

    Orangeland RV Park

    Location!

Stay here every year for dance competitions in Anaheim and Garden Grove. Very reasonable prices for the area. Anaheim transit makes on-demand stops her to Disneyland as well as Garden Walk. Very helpful, friendly staff. Many residents mixed with overnight era or vacationers.

    Pros:

    • The price for the area is worth it!
    • Amazing staff.
    • Free citrus picking!
    • Pool, mini golf on site.
    • Incredibly creak restrooms and showers.
    • Camp store.
    • On-demand public transport for $6/person for all-day access.
    • Walking distance to Big Ed and Honda Center.
    • Along Santa Ana River Trail path that connects beach to San Bernardino Mts.
    • Security at night.
    • Dog runs (kinda stinky, though)
    • Back-in and pull-thru sites (I’d try to stay closer to Struck and the western side)
    • Rules are there to keep things nice and safe.
    • Good wifi

    Cons:

    • Stinky dog runs
    • Street racing nearby at night. Every time.

    Lighthouse Trailer Resort & Marina

    Good stay

Little family owned RV spot— some long termers. Everyone super nice. Big spot, shade of trees, walk down to lake. Full hookup. 7 minutes to big bear lake town. Hiking trails out front gate. Probably not big rig friendly.

Guide to Wrightwood

Mountain campers visiting Wrightwood in the San Bernardino Mountains should note that campground elevation ranges from 3,500 feet in lower canyons to over 7,000 feet at higher sites. Summer temperatures typically reach 80-90°F during day and drop to 40-50°F at night, requiring layers even in warm months. Many tent camping areas remain snow-covered through May, with access roads to higher campgrounds often impassable before late spring.

What to do

Mountain biking at Skypark: Located across from Skypark Camp RV Resort, the trails offer options for various skill levels with rental equipment available. "Perfect gateway for your adventures in the area," notes Ken C., who appreciated the convenience of staying at the campground while accessing nearby recreation.

Fishing at Bonelli Bluffs: Fish for bass and other species in the adjacent lake, with no license required for children under 16. A camper mentioned, "There's camping, horseback riding, fishing, trails, biking, hiking, picnics, you can use your jet skies in designated areas, swimming on the pool areas, kayaking, Park for kids and plenty more."

Hiking to Bonita Falls: From Bonita Ranch Campground, take a short trail directly behind the sites to reach this local waterfall. A camper reports, "Easy access to a pretty trail right behind the campground. Very quiet and interspersed with long time stayers and temporary campers."

What campers like

Secluded mountain sites: Keller Peak Yellow Post sites provide significant privacy with only 9 sites spread over 5 miles. "There are only 9 sites stretched across 5 miles so you will have no neighbors. Each site is decent size and tucked away into the rocks," notes Kristil C., adding that sites "fill up fast May-Sept."

Kid-friendly amenities: Rancho Jurupa RV Park offers multiple family activities including a splash pad and mini-golf. "Splash pad, park, mini golf great amenities," reports Marcella D., while another camper adds, "Water park and mini golf for kids. Showers and laundry convenient."

Year-round availability: Thousand Trails Soledad Canyon maintains access through winter when mountain campgrounds close. "This is a good location to explore LA and greater LA area, 45 min to Hollywood sign," notes Tyler V., who used it as a "base camp to explore/sight see LA."

What you should know

Night sounds: Several campgrounds report significant noise issues. At Thousand Trails Soledad Canyon, "the train kept waking us up" as it's "very very close to railroad tracks." Fairplex RV Park can be "noisy with the traffic going by if that's where your spot is by the road."

Reservation difficulty: Yellow Post sites operate on first-come, first-served basis and fill quickly during peak season. "It's hit or miss if you can get one. Do your homework and learn what you need to know ahead of time - esp regarding fires," advises Kate W. about Keller Peak Yellow Post Campsites.

Fire restrictions: Due to high fire danger, many sites prohibit wood fires but allow propane fire pits. "There are fire rings but fires are not always permitted so be sure to check with the station just at the bottom of Keller Peak road," cautions one camper, noting the importance of verifying current restrictions.

Tips for camping with families

Youth-focused activities: Bonelli Bluffs offers family-friendly recreation including swimming pools and designated kid zones. "There is camping, horseback riding, fishing, trails, biking, hiking, picnics...swimming on the pool areas, kayaking, Park for kids and plenty more," notes Jessica P.

Weather preparation: Pack warm clothes even in summer, as mountain temperatures can drop dramatically at night. At Keller Peak, a camper reported getting "snow overnight in mid May" despite camping during spring, indicating the need for all-season gear.

Short getaway options: For families wanting minimal driving, Bonita Ranch offers proximity to urban areas while maintaining outdoor appeal. A camper noted it's a "decent get away from LA" with "lots of trails and gorgeous scenery in this area," making it practical for weekend trips with children.

Tips from RVers

Site selection strategy: At Skypark Camp RV Resort, larger rigs should request specific sites. "I would skip if I were a big rig, or call and ask for sites that are easy to get into," advises Justin C., noting, "to squeeze in some sites they made the access roads a bit small."

Hookup availability: Canyon RV Park offers full hookups while remaining close to urban amenities. "Staying for a week so good so far have spot 120 beautiful grass wilderness area," reports Christy G. about this park that maintains natural surroundings despite its developed facilities.

Spacing considerations: RV campgrounds near Wrightwood vary significantly in site spacing and privacy. Fairplex RV Park has "spaces are very tight" where you're "packed in like sardines," while Rancho Jurupa offers "large concrete pads, easy backing in and hooking up. Lots of grass, great place to camp in groups."
