Within Silverwood Lake State Recreation Area, Mesa Campground operates year-round as a California Department of Parks and Recreation facility positioned near the lake's shoreline. The campground accommodates RVs up to 31 feet with full hookups available at select sites, though space constraints mean some locations require parking in the roadway rather than alongside your setup.
Site privacy varies considerably throughout the campground's layout. Some spots sit close together with minimal screening, while others offer more seclusion among the trees. Kimberly L. found "nice fire pits, level pads, and clean campground" during her stay. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring, with most areas providing substantial shade from mature trees.
Lake access requires either a drive to the boat launch area or a walk down from the campground. Fishing opportunities exist around the shoreline, and paved roads through the area work well for cycling, though the terrain includes hills that challenge some riders. Rangers patrol regularly and prove helpful with area information, including details about local bald eagles. Restroom facilities feature flush toilets and hot showers that operate on quarters.
Crowd levels fluctuate dramatically between weekdays and weekends. Midweek visits often result in nearly empty conditions, while holiday periods bring dense occupation and noise issues that extend past quiet hours. Some campers report music and parties that carry significant distances through the campground. T-Mobile cellular service functions adequately throughout the area.
The campground works best for visitors who can adapt to varying site configurations and don't mind weekend crowds. Book well ahead for summer and holiday periods, as availability becomes extremely limited during peak times.

The card is required for anyone under the age of 41 to operate a boat in California's waters, which includes Silverwood Lake, Lake Perris, and all other inland waterways as well. http://californiaboatercard.com/
All vessels entering Silverwood Lake SRA will be inspected for standing water and quagga mussels. Vessels that fail inspection will not be allowed to launch and may be turned away from the park. Please ensure your vessel is cleaned of vegetation and organic material, drained of any and all standing water (including the outdrive and live wells), and completely dry. Any amount of water found may constitute a failure. We do not want you to fail this free inspection! (Click here for more information)

California State Parks wants to thank our park visitors for helping us keep our parks and environment clean. In 2018, State Parks installed new RV dump station collection systems at ten state park units as part of a pilot program to help us protect the environment and are added amenities for our visitors.
Following the success of the initial pilot program in 2018, an additional eleven park units have been added to the program. The service is available for campers, day-use or transient visitors for $10-$20 per use, depending on the location. Please note that visitors with current reservations arriving on or after April 13, 2021, who are interested in using the RV dump stations may be required to pay the use fee. The price per campsite for these state parks does not include the use of a dump station. View the following link: Camping Information
