    Hitchinpost RV Park and Campground

    Great spot

Host was very friendly, and very patriotic. Cute dog parks, with water for the dogs, and a swing for you to hang out on while you wait for the dogs business to be done.  There is a petting zoo with baby goats and piglets here too.

    Frank Jackson State Park Campground

Small, Alabama State Park, in Opp

Arrived at guard gate and was welcomed by friendly staff. Quiet campground with waterfront site 8. Plenty of space between sites. FHU, level gravel, waterfront site with picnic table, fire ring, and grill. Felt safe, and across the street from bathrooms/laundry. Dated but clean. Woman’s bathroom with showers & bathroom stalls. 2 washers & dryers, as well as a folding table. No dog park, but plenty of nature, paved roads for walking, as well as easy to find, marked trails. 10 minutes to town, with restaurants and a few stores to pick up groceries & necessities. Playground is on the other side of the trails, as well as the boat ramp. Lots of wildlife. Would stay here again!

    Deer Run RV Park

Good Overnighter or Short Stay Option

This review is based on a short-term stay versus a destination campground(CG). We traveled into the CG on the US highways following our RV GPS from FL with no issues getting to this CG. Check-in was very easy, and we were guided to our online reservation first choice, end site 19. Our check-in person was concerned we might not like pulling through site 19. He was correct, as this site was too short and had an incline at the unhitch point. We proceeded to the newer area, where we were given the choice of pull-through sites 97& 98, which were both FHUs and flat. We chose 98, which was fairly level and plenty long enough for our 5th wheel and F450. The sites in this CG are close to each other. There were no trees so that we could have put out our satellite, but there was no need due to the great cable selection. We got 3 bars on Verizon and used our MifI for what little internet we needed. We tried but could not connect to the CG's WiFi. They have very good water pressure, so we used a reducer. Where we were in the back of the CG, we could still hear the highway. There was no formal dog park, but plenty of areas to walk your dog. This is an older park with many permanent and seasonal residents. We were impressed that, for the most part, there was not that“trailer trash” look, and the residents were friendly. There are newer water and electric sites in the 100s area in front of where we were. There’s a shower house and laundry, but we did not use these facilities. This CG is a good short-stay option.

The Oaks Family RV Park & Campground

    Great Experience!

We had a great experience camping here! We’re seasoned tent campers but just bought our first RV and had a ton of questions 😂. Robbie was so helpful and knowledgeable, he made our stay super easy and shared all kinds of helpful tips. Friendly staff and neighbors!

The campground is very clean, neat and tidy. It’s very clear the maintenance of the grounds is never let go. The concrete pads are level and have plenty of maneuvering space around them(helpful especially if you’re new). The bathhouse has 4 large private bathrooms with showers, toilets, sink and an oversized bench for your stuff. The pavilion has grills, a tv and a massive brick fireplace. The pond is very peaceful and makes for a great spot to watch the sunrise. It’s also full of fish for you to catch and there’s a designated fish cleaning station by the bath houses! There’s also a fenced in miniature dog park! There’s a cell tower nearby so service is great and our HDTV antenna picked up crystal clear. The park is easily accessible from the highway and clearly marked. The gravel road in the campground is tidy, solid and well maintained like the rest of the park.

We’ll be back again very soon!

    Moonpie Farm and Creamery

    Southern Charm & Farm

Our host was amazing, giving us privacy and answering questions when we had them. She is passionate and knowledgeable about her animals, which we were welcome to pet. I have a newfound love for goats! Our campsite was just as described online, with access to fresh potable water and plenty of downed wood and kindling around.

The Oaks Family RV Park & Campground

    Don’t waste your time here.

I’ll start out with the PROS. Good service for AT&T and Verizon (3-4) bars. Lots are spaced out, you’re not on top of people.

THE CONS The staff here are very rude! WAY over priced for the area, Unlevel pads, wifi doesn’t connect to my computer nor phone. Sewer pipe doesn’t have threads so I was forced to go out and buy an adapter for it. Also for everyone traveling with your pets. As stated (For your dog to be here is a Privilege)

My opinion doesn’t matter but I’ll refer everyone to go to Cypress landing Rv park instead

Located near Fort Rucker military base, the area experiences hot, humid summers with temperatures regularly exceeding 90°F and mild winters with occasional frost. Campgrounds in the region often feature ponds, creeks, and lakeside settings where campers can enjoy water recreation during the extended warm season.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: At Frank Jackson State Park Campground, the 1,000-acre Lake Jackson offers stocked waters. "The lake is stocked bass, bream, crappie and catfish and holds numerous tournaments," one visitor notes. Campers can also access multiple fishing docks at Geneva State Lake.

Wildlife viewing: Kelly Creek RV Park features natural areas perfect for spotting local fauna. "We took the dogs for a walk down along the creek, through some nice woods and a meadow... They even have a catch and release pond," reports a visitor. Another camper spotted "a turkey gobbler in the driveway when I pulled in. Owner says there are about 40 in the area and a few deer."

Hiking trails: Several campgrounds offer walking paths for exercise and exploration. Geneva State Lake provides basic trail access: "There are 2 hiking trails - more like atv trails that go to either side of the lake from the campground. You can go further into the forest but it was deer hunting season so I didn't explore."

What campers like

Lakefront campsites: Frank Jackson State Park Campground receives consistent praise for its waterfront sites. "We really liked the setting of the campground with many sites being directly on the lake. Our gravel site was a long back-in right on the water and perfectly level for our RV." Another reviewer confirms, "Most sites are on the water and with great views of the lake."

Clean facilities: Military Park Fort Rucker Recreation Area Engineer Beach RV Park maintains well-kept bathhouses and laundry. "Great military campground. Water and electric, on site dump station.
