Beautiful views

Very well kept camp spots. Each has a fire pit with grill on it. Our spot, 16, has a beautiful view of the mountains on the other side of the highway. Only downside, is the road noise from being so close to the highway. Pit toilets and water are available, we paid $20 for a single spot in September. Very close to the Snake River too

Great Location

My boyfriend and I wanted to visit the Tetons, but finding camping near the park over 4th of July weekend was impossible. This campsite is the perfect distance away from the Tetons so you don’t get all the touristy traffic but close enough to drive in!

It’s alright for sure!

This campground is a standard National Forest campground, first come first serve, water spigot, vault toilet, bear box, fire pit, and one of those insane composite picnic tables. Good sized sites with privacy, great views of the canyon.

Make sure to check the dates on the slips on the posts if you think the sites are all full, there were a lot of empty sites with old slips still hung up on the posts, making them appear claimed. Also, this campsite is very close to the highway. Perfect if you are looking to stop for the night on a trip, but pretty noisy.

We woke up to a full grown bull moose in our campsite. It was scary but also funny and cool. The camp host came the night before and told us the moose was nearby and pointed him out to us in the distance.

Does the trick!

Had our choice of spots on a Monday afternoon. Big tent pad, fire ring, picnic table, bear proof food box. CLEANEST vault toilets I’ve ever seen, water spikets within walk of site. No shade or views of the river (it’s on the other side of the highway) but the canyon is gorgeous! You can definitely hear the highway noise all day and night. Self pay envelopes and firewood available for purchase! Not a dreamy campsite but worked great for our purpose for 2 nights!

Lifesaver campground

Literally every campground closer to Jackson and Tetons NP was full! Decent campground in the Snake river valley but on the other side of the road from the river. It had some of the nicest vault toilets we have ever used! Very clean! Our campsite was fairly level and private.

Available

Needed a for sure spot to camp for the night as it was getting late and this was what we came up upon. Large spots without hookups, did have fire rings, picnic table and bear proof food storage. Right off the road, so traffic was noisy. Camp host was gone the entire time we were there, but the firewood was left out with a bucket to pay and you can self pay with an envelope for your site.

Bathrooms (no running water or electricity in restrooms) and water spicket were walking distance from our spot near the entrance.

If you need a place to stay for the night on a road trip and you don’t want to risk trying for somewhere that might be full, this seemed to be a safe bet and was pleasant enough to camp out, cook dinner, and head out in the morning.

Peaceful, beautiful, great location

Beautiful 20 spot campground across from the snake river. Tents and RV welcome. No hookups but water spickets available. Clean bathrooms. Picnic tables, fire rings, and very large spots. Some pull through. Great location out of Jackson Hole just a short drive from the Grand Tetons. Campground sits in a gorge so mountains and trees as far as you can see. We walked in and easily had our choice of over 15 open spots. Was only $10-$15 bucks I think.

Close-ish to Grand Teton

Close to Grand Teton but far enough away that it will likely be unfilled is the best thing about our experience here. When all the sites in Grand Teton National Park are full, hotel rooms in Jackson, WY are $500 a night and you are willing to make a little effort you'll find yourself on Hwy 89 turning into Wolf Creek Campground adjacent to the highway. You'll be squarely in the middle of Grizzly Bear** country, and you'll be reminded of this at the entrance with a lot of signs and a bear safe garbage dumpster with the roof smashed in.

Just saying. Know your environment. First come, first serve for $16/night.

Our site was directly next too the highway. There was no shade or trees to block the road. There was a bit of a mound but not enough to block the lights from truckers passing by all night long. The campground was completely overgrown with weeds including the tent pad we didn't even realize was there until the next day it was so overgrown. The ground is rock and hard pack dirt. Bring the good tent stakes.

Each site had a campfire pit and bear-safe storage box. As we've found to be the case in Wyoming the bathroom was impeccably clean. This may have something to do with the bears.

The campsite is across the road from the Snake River but it does not (as advertised on the Reserve America site) have a view of the river. It is in the valley along the highway with some towering cliff/mountains on either side. You can cross the street to check out the river and there is an overlook walking distance down the highway. There is a place to sit there, and a CLOSED trail down to the riverside. There is likely another access point to the trail but we didn't see it.

The best thing about this site was the night sky. When there wasn't a truck passing by it was one of the darkest spots we've camped in awhile. The stars were pristine and since you had mountains blocking out light on both sides they seemed even brighter.

*Pro-tip: Just down the road is the Yankee Doodle Cafe. It is a unique place. The food is exactly what you'll want from a diner after a bad night's sleep. The portions are big, and regardless of your political views you'll likely get a kick out of the Americana all over the walls. The owner, Gary and his Wife, will regale you with local stories if you're lucky enough to meet them.

**There was a bear in camp while we were there. Be aware of bears.
