Indian Campground & RV Park in Buffalo, Wyoming is located halfway between Mount Rushmore and Yellowstone National Park, at the junction of I-90 and I-25. We are an ideal stopping off point to visit the beautiful Big Horn Mountains, the Bighorn National Forest, and the Historic Bozeman Trail sites. We are also at the point where these two interstates meet up with the Cloud Peak Scenic Byway (also known as Highway 16). Easy off and easy on -- just 1/2 block west of I-25's exit 299. This is the shortest, safest and most scenic route to Yellowstone Park - with the least grade for those big outfits. We have over 200 large, mature shade trees - pruned and ready to accommodate your rig to protect you and your valuable equipment. We also have grassy tent sites right next to a stream and cabin rentals. Our large swimming pool is heated to a perfect 84 degrees!

      Beautiful and Breathtaking. Peaceful

We dispersed camped north of MeadowLark Lake along FS Road 427 I believe! It was beautiful, and so peaceful. We did get stormed on but our tent held out really well! These dispersed sites are developed and first come first serve. We enjoyed our coffee next to the river!

No water or Toilets so plan accordingly, and check out the Bighorns USDA Website for any burn bans or camping information you may need!

There are bears out in this forest, recommend putting all food in your hard sided truck, Car, or camper! A human fed bear is a dead bear!

      Beautiful site

Found this by chance en route to custer state park. Lots of pitches. Quiet and had spot right by lake. Clean toilets. Make sure to take a pen to be able to check in/complete envelope.

      Our First KOA!

Our first time staying at a KOA Journey and although right off the main road, the noise was not bad at all, amenities were terrific and although we were not right by the creek, we managed to get some decent fishing in, views were great, even though we caught no fish.

Nice little campground for stopover. Staff is super friendly and stayed past closing (7pm) to assist late arrivals. Sites are level and pull thru, although a bit narrow. No dog park but plenty of room to walk them. Cheaper than the KOA down the street

      serene and scenic

Paid $15 to camp. Had a park for playing that was a big hit. A store right near by had some supplies including wood for $7.50

Beautiful sunset. Has picnic tables and firepits but no grate for cooking. A few sites are good for tents and more are good for RVs because they have gravel.

      Accessibility

The gravel drive and lots are compacted and easy to maneuver with an electric wheelchair. I think a manual could do it as well. Shower and toilets are not accessible unless you can stand and walk short distances. Washer and driers are accessible but the main door into the office has a2” lip that can stop you if you’re not at speed. Great feeling to the overall area. Right by freeway so some noise but trees help.

Last minute reservation with good service

We came in and got a last minute tent site on Memorial Day weekend and were treated very well with good recommendations for ice cream and willingness to help us out when we realized we left things at home. Our spot was a beautiful little tent spot right along the creek.

      Spaced out and simple

Check in is via honor system. Most sites have some from between them. Saw lots of pronghorn. Did get a bit windy in the night, especially in a tent. Bathrooms were closed.

If you want Cleanliness, organization of the camp, functionality of facilities, availability of staff, provisions for toilet facilities, upkeep of grounds THEN THIS IS NOT THE PLACE THAT YOU WANT TO SPEND YOUR MONEY. THE TOILETS WERE FILTHY , THERE WAS NO TOILET PAPER, THE TOILET LEAKED AT ITS BASE AFTER FLUSHING, THE GROUNDS WERE UNKEPT, OF THE FOUR LAUNDROMAT NONE FUNCTIONED . TWO OF THE FOUR SHOWERS AVAILABLE WERE IN OPERABLE, AND THE OTHERS WERE FILTHY. I had booked for two nights, but I went to the office at 10 AM and no one was there. I came back later in the afternoon and requested a cancellation of the second night, and I explained why I was leaving. I do give them credit for giving me a refund.

It is unfortunate that this park is in such a state of disarray as its location and pool facilities made for a an attractive setting. Due to the overall filthiness of the facilities, I did not bother to swim in the two pools that were there. I could not recommend this facility for Camping.

Only 1 night on our way west.

We are here for only one night on our way to the east coast.  Lots of trees and with plenty of space for sitting in the shade.  Very level parking space in the #9 pull thru. Since we make a couple trips this way each year we will plan on being here again, maybe for 2 or 3 days so we can just relax and use the pool and walking trail. WiFi works great here also!

The owners go out of their way to make your stay as nice as possible. I was requested by my Dr. to get a chest xray and needed add an additional day to my stay, the staff did everything possible to make this happen. I can't thank them enough to make my stay here great.

Great place to relax for a couple days

We went in the winter so traffic was super low. Mostly just us at the park so we got the 2 giant hot spring pools to ourselves. Soak in mineral rich waters up to 110 degrees in some areas. Full hookups, but no water in the winter due to frozen lines.

Peaceful overnight with skipping stones and cows

Great little spot between Bad Lands and Yellowstone. Pulled in late, had no problem finding a spot and paying. Vault toilets that are clean. Just a few other campers. Beautiful lake for skipping stones. Cows that occasionally block the road.

      Gem for travelers

Stay here before staying at Lake Stop just before it. There is no contest which is more enjoyable and sweet of a spot. We were passing through and were happy to find this quiet place. We didn’t spend any daytime here as we arrived later and left early.

      Fountain of Youth RV Park

      Great spot, but not fancy

Fountain of youth RV park definitely has its charm, but also could use some amenity upgrades.

      Pros:

Huge hot spring pools open daily from 7am- 9:30 pm. Lots of space and can use floaties even kayaks on the pools. Free use of staying here. Cleaned pools one of the days we were here. Awesome to use at night under the stars.

The views from the pools are gorgeous.

Sites have enough space from one another and full hookups. The owner is really amenable and lets you choose your site.. this is great if you’re looking for more shade or space from neighbors.

There is laundry, showers, and toilets available for use.

Location is awesome—right near the state park, close to the dinosaur center, grocery store is less than a 10 min drive, lots of water activities close by (we went kayaking)

WiFi worked very well the entire time!

      Cons:

The owner is definitely nice but runs the establishment by himself and therefore is hard to get a hold of initially and is very busy.

The showers are coin operated. So you have to pay one quarter for 2 1/2 minutes of showering. You can also hop over to the hot springs state park for a free soak in the bathhouse and free shower afterward!

The amenities themselves aren’t anything to write home about—laundry is fine, toilets are not amazing, nor are the showers—but everything works and there’s hot water!

Close to the road and a railroad so you can hear sounds of traffic, but it’s not crazy disruptive. Nothing earplugs can’t solve.

No Verizon or ATT service at the site.

Ultimately, I think the hot spring pools and location are well worth the $$ and loved my stay.

      Great bathrooms & showers

A bit lower key than most KOA’s (that’s a positive for me). Few kids, and VERY clean bathrooms and showers with appropriate hooks, dry shower entries (probably because they had great shower curtains). Sites had reasonable spacing and some shade. Nice pool.

      Hot Spring Pools

Open camp-sites (very little shade).  Water, sewer, and electric hook-ups available.  Flush toilets and coin operated showers.  Garbage bins. The hot spring fountain and pools were amazing!!!  Thermopolis was a friendly community with lots of fun things to do!  We took in the dinosaur museum, and it was great!  We were there in the middle of the week, and there were quite a few sites available.

We suggest you take in the Scenic Byway through Wind River Canyon just South of Thermopolis - it's amazing!
