    Bewabic State Park Campground

    Semi Private Campsites

Campground was well maintained. When we arrived there was no one working the check in station however we were able to use the phone provided and get checked in to our site. Campground is on a lake and there is a nice hiking trail around the island. The site we stayed in was surrounded by trees giving us some privacy. The only thing I was not satisfied with was the fact that the bathroom smelled like cigarette smoke, there was however a no smoking sign posted.

    Lost Lake Cabins

Cabins only at this location but just down the road is a campground

The road in to the cabin campground is beautiful. Tall trees stand guard as you enter an even more peaceful area than the forest you were driving through.

There is a communal parking area with a few of the cabins in sight. You can reserve the cabins individually or get several for your family or group. You can see some recreation areas near the parking area.

The Lost Lake Campground is just down the road. This has a larger beach and boat launch. The lake is perfect for fishing. There are also several short trails and longer ones nearby.

Drive a bit further than Lost Lake Campground to Chipmunk Rapids Campground. There you will find a wonderful artesian well where you can fill up on great drinking water.

    Paint River Hills Campground

Quiet campground right by town and ORV trails.

Great little campground. It's small, clean and quiet. You self register for check-in, there's a bathroom building with 3 stalls and two showers(women) and hot water. We purchased an RV site($20) even though we were camping in a tent so our truck and trailer would fit and it comes with water and electricity at the camp site. Each campsite comes with a picnic table and fire ring. The ORV Route is right outside the campground entrance and you can ride to the trail. You can also get ice and gas at the gas station in town by taking the alley. We stayed again in 2020 in Our RV. They have 4 pull through sites with full hook-ups;$25 a night. 50/20 amps, high water pressure.

    Hi-Pines Campground

Wide open space great if you have kids!

This campground is wide and very open. We arrived on a Sunday and the weekend crowd had cleared out, so nice and quiet. One thing is— do not plan on doing laundry on a Monday. The personnel use all the machines to wash linens and towels from the cabins after folks check out. One dryer did not heat very well. The entry to the laundry is a step up and I stubbed my toe because the threshold was not secured.

    Pine Valley Lodge

Great view, Cabins run down and Beach was a mess

We have been coming here for a long time. It is under new management and we thought things would get better. While we were here other guests trashed the beach and had dogs running and using the bathroom throughout the campsite. The rules for dogs were to keep them on leashes and clean up after them. These rules were not being followed which caused the beach, in the past is lovely, but with the dogs using it as a bathroom the beach smelt like poop. Nobody in our week of staying cleaned up after them so we needed to go somewhere else to swim. If your place is pet friendly please make sure to keep up with your own rules. The cabins are run down but showers are hot and the utilities are still able to be used

    Bond Falls Campground

    Great Views and Quiet Camping

8/26-9/1/22- Free camping! There are vault toilets and hand-pump well drinking water in several places, and picnic tables and fire pits at each camp site. The sites are well maintained, clean, and reasonably flat. I tried self registering, but there was nowhere to sign-in. About 11Am the next morning, someone came by to register us. 2-bars Verizon 5G, and 2-bars AT&T 4G.

We rolled in about 10pm and drove through the western loop sites 1-22, pulled into the first pull-through site(W5) that we could easily get our 34’ fifth wheel into and went to sleep. In the morning, I walked the loop and found several others that we could fit(now that it was light out), and we moved over one site to W6. Site W21 has a lake view and a large loop in front of this back-in site that would be super easy to navigate for a big rig. Sites 11 and 12 were really close together but had a good views of the lake as well. Later, we drove over to the east camp site that all seemed to have lake views, and sites E12 and E13 are surrounded on 3 sides by water, a turn-around loop, and more sunlight for solar powered rigs. I didn’t think to check cell signal while there.

The towns of Watersmeet and Conover had the cheapest diesel fuel. The Wild Turkey Bar& Grill in Conover, WI had fabulous smoked meats, and there is a great little hardware store in Conover as well.

    Bond Falls Campground

    Secluded campsites on the water

There are about 20 campsites and a handful on the water. The sites are free for up to a total of 14 days which is really nice. We stayed at a site that was up the hill from the water. Each site has a fire pit and a picnic table and allowed for our 10 person tent. There are a few port-a-potty’s scattered throughout the campground, but no shower site. There are a few rules regarding the sites, but you can check in with the park ranger for all the details. This was our first time camping here and I would defiantly go back.

What campers like

Spacious cabin layouts: At Lost Lake Cabins, the accommodations feature generous interior spaces. One visitor detailed, "I went here a few years ago when my kids were a little younger and it was great. I believe it used to be a private camp that has now been converted to a public one. The cabins are a few hundred feet apart and there's access to the lake for swimming or boating."

Amenities for children: Hi-Pines Campground offers comprehensive family activities. "We enjoyed the amenities and activities this campground had to offer. Clean bathrooms and laundry room. Great activities for kids…fishing presentation, movie, kickball," shared Amanda D. Many properties maintain play areas and organized activities during summer months.

Clean facilities: Multiple cabin properties maintain well-kept bathroom facilities. A visitor at Keyes Lake Campground reported, "We found this place by mistake when the campground we were going to gave away our spot. It is very clean in the campgrounds and the site we had was privet and large enough for our 5th wheel and truck and boat. The bathroom was also spotless."

What you should know

Reservation requirements: Most cabin properties require advance booking, particularly during summer months. Many locations begin taking reservations in January for the summer season, with weekend dates filling first.

The river is only a 5 min hike from the camp ground. The showers and bathroom facility were clean." Some properties provide only beds while others include kitchenettes.

Seasonal limitations: Most cabins near Long Lake close during late fall through early spring due to weather conditions. Operating seasons typically run May through October, though some properties open earlier depending on weather.

Site selection tips: When booking cabin accommodations with children, request locations near bathhouses and play areas. One visitor at Chain O'Lakes Campground shared: "Huge campground and well organized. Pull thru site."

Tips from RVers

Hook-up considerations: For RV campers considering cabin stays, many properties offer hybrid options. Holly Wood Hill Campground notes specific setup concerns: "Yards on the lower sites are large, lots of room with concrete pads, but power/water hookups at lower sites are designed for motorhomes, not travel trailers," according to Tonya B.

Dump station access: Properties vary in waste disposal facilities. Hi-Pines Campground provides on-site dumping, while other properties may require using facilities in nearby towns. Schedule sufficient time at departure for this process.

Seasonal campsite availability: Some cabin properties maintain seasonal RV sites alongside cabin rentals, allowing for extended stays.
