Tomlinson Run State Park Campground features well-spaced, wooded sites with electric hookups where pets are welcome. Located in New Cumberland, West Virginia, approximately 20 minutes from Weirton, the campground offers 50 sites, most with 30-amp electric connections and a few upgraded to 50-amp service in 2021. Fire rings and picnic tables are provided at each site, with specific hammock posts available at non-electric sites. The park operates seasonally from April 1 to October 31, with camping rates starting at $28 for non-electric sites and approximately $40 for sites with electric hookups. The bathhouses are cleaned regularly during the day and maintained in good condition despite being older facilities. The campground has wide sites with good spacing between neighbors, providing privacy especially in areas like site 40 on the cul-de-sac.
Hiking trails connect throughout the campground with clear trail markers despite somewhat inadequate maps. Dogs are permitted on all trails, though owners should be prepared for hilly terrain in certain areas, with hiking poles recommended especially after rainfall. Beyond hiking, the park provides numerous pet-friendly activities including fishing, a lake suitable for kayaking, paddle boat rentals, mini-golf, and disc golf. No alcohol is permitted within the park boundaries. Campers should note there is no designated dish washing station, which can make cleanup more challenging. Cell phone coverage is generally available throughout the campground. Most sites are not perfectly level, requiring some adjustment for RVs and trailers. The park does experience occasional noise from scheduled activities, such as tractor rides during special events like the Christmas in July celebration, but remains generally quiet most of the time with abundant shade from the heavily wooded setting.
