Best RV Parks & Resorts near Bellingham, WA

Bellingham RV Park offers full-hookup sites with level gravel pull-throughs for motorhomes and travel trailers, operating year-round with water, electric, and sewer connections. Facilities include showers, toilets, and Wi-Fi coverage throughout most of the park area. "Cute RV-only park not far from the Canadian border. Parking spots are pretty straight-forward, as it's just a lot for RVs," noted one camper. The Cedars RV Resort in Ferndale provides larger RV sites with more privacy, featuring hedges between camping spaces and accommodating big rigs with 50-amp electrical service. Thousand Trails Birch Bay, located 15 miles north, offers additional RV sites, though reviews mention tight spacing between units in some sections, particularly in the Phase 1 area where slideouts may be just inches from neighboring RVs.

Advance reservations are strongly recommended for RV camping near Bellingham, especially during summer months. Several parks offer sanitary dump stations, with Bellingham RV Park, The Cedars, and Norwest RV Park all providing on-site dump facilities. Pet policies vary across locations, with most allowing pets but imposing restrictions on certain areas. As one visitor observed, "Everyone's so nice, good dog park, pool, and friendly staff. Little mini mart on site." Seasonal price variations affect all regional RV parks, with winter rates typically lower. Travelers should note that many local campgrounds experience road and train noise, particularly at Larrabee State Park where both highway and railroad tracks run nearby.

Town and Country Motorcoach and RV Resort

Great Stop After a Long Trip

We followed RV Trip Wizard south on I-5 straight to the campground (CG). At the stoplight next to Lowe’s, you simply continue straight into the resort entrance for check-in. Check-in was super easy and informative, and we were then escorted to pull-through Site 11 with FHUs. A standout feature here is that each long pull-through has full utility hookups on both sides. Sewer placement was excellent—neither too high nor too low—and the sewer cap even swivels to align with your hose(something we’d never seen before). The pad was long enough for our 40' toy hauler with the patio down, plus convenient parking for our F450. It was interesting that a CG this nice did not have picnic tables nor fire pits/barbecues at the sites. Connectivity was great: campground Wi-Fi delivered~49 Mbps down/ 44 Mbps up, while T-Mobile Home Internet hit 133 Mbps down/ 9 Mbps up. On the north side of the CG is a tree farm where dogs can roam off-leash. We were also able to receive packages—very helpful coming back from Alaska/Canada—and even had our vehicle washed onsite. An RV tech staying in the CG was available for repairs. The campground hosts and workers could not have been more accommodating—allowing package delivery, coordinating vehicle washing and RV repairs, and most of all not fertilizing our grassy site because of our 15-year-old pup. There is some road and occasional train noise, but nothing too disruptive. They were getting the shower houses and laundry building finished up while we were there. This is a very nice, newer campground, and we thoroughly enjoyed our week-long stay.

    La Conner Marina RV Resort

    Decent Level Sites

Nice location conveniently located near the Marina, close to everything.

Premium sites are double wide and have a spot to park your RV AND Vehicle. Discount for Good Sam Club members.

Premium Sites $55 before discount (back-in only) Pull-through Sites $55 before discount Regular Back-in Site $45

All sites have Full Hookups, Picnic table & a minor grassed Area.

We stayed in a Premium site, enjoyed the view of the Fields behind us. Extremely quiet, open, not dusty. Downside, people don’t pick up after their Pets. We have two Shelties & think of others so we’re not the Culprits…

Otherwise, pleasant overall. Laundry accepts cards only which is extremely convenient since coins are hard to come by.

5G t-Mobile is 5-stars at our Site, it’s not listed as an option yet.

Hidden Village RV Park & Campground

Great price, very nice manager lady.

I rented a long term space here for over 2 years while working in Washington. Price was by far the best around. It's a very good sized place with spaces to accommodate even the largest trailers. Even when full there's room to maneuver.Full hookups, wifi, bathrooms, shower, laundry room, swimming pool. Has seperate parking for boats, utility trailers etc. Lots of big trees around for a fair amount of shade. Is pet friendly. Manager lady is very nice. Has a separate non power section for tents or dry camping. It's not the fanciest but for the price is great.

    Kayak Point County Park

Small woodsy campground with beach access

All campsites are surrounded by trees so choose carefully if you need a pull through or if you have a large rig that you’re trying to back up. We had a small camper van and it fit perfectly. Campsite is on a bluff above the beach, but you can’t see the sunset from the campground you would have to go down to the beach. Bathroom/shower is typical for a state or county campground - functional, but zero elegance. This one is a county campground and state or federal passes do not apply. Water and 30 amp electric at all sites except one tent site. Douglas squirrels are common and shy. Pets are welcome on leash.

    Washington Park Campground

    Anacortes Camping

Great medium size campground surrounded by saltwater, short trails, and grassy picnic areas. Great views of islands and sunsets. Boat launch with large paid parking area. Walking distance to Skyline Marina for a variety of ocean activities. We went on a whale tour and encountered atleast 10 Orcas. Campground can be muddy in some spots. Mostly reservations, 14 day in advance, but there a a few first come first serve sites. Some with water and electric. Motorhome, trailers and tents. Some spots looked like they could handle 40 foot rigs. A couple longer pull throughs. Very shelterd anthrough. Not much good for solar. Showers and restrooms.

Military Park Jim Creek Naval Radio Station Jim Creek Wilderness Recreation Area

    So much to do!

It had been 15 years at least since I'd been to Jim Creek. Since then, they've done some nice upgrades. The rv pads are double wide concrete pads about 50 feet long with full hook-ups. All sites include a fire pit, picnic table, and grill with ash bucket and grill cleaning brush. The rv park is close to the recreation office that has a little gift shop with snacks and drinks. This is also where you can rent equipment such as bikes, fishing poles, boats, etc. They also have a movie theater upstairs that operates on Saturday. This building has a 24 hour lounge with free wifi, TV, dvds, books, markers, coloring books, games, and other things for visitors to use. The wifi was only supposed to work inside the building, but I could pick it up in my campsite once or twice during our stay. Verizon cell service is very spotty. When I did pick it up, I only had one bar. There are several hiking trails and you can drive about 5 miles back to Twin Lakes to fish or just take a rented boat out or just enjoy the view. Jim Creek is a Naval Radio station and is for active duty military, retired, DoD, and reserves. There is a gate and you must show id to get in. Because of this and the base police roll through once or twice a day, I felt very safe compared to a state park or even a private campground. We camped Tuesday-Friday and even when it started filling up in Thursday, it was still super quiet at night. Quiet like not even bug sounds. That was wonderful.

Fort Flagler Historical State Park Campground

    Loved it!

Since the reservation system does not allow same day reservations, we showed up hoping to grab one of the few available sights as first come, first served. There were 3 or 4 sites listed as available in the lower campground and we found one that was perfect for us. We had the choice between a full hook up site and a dry site and chose the latter as it was perfectly level and offered more privacy.

It’s interesting to note the different pricing levels from ‘popular’ to basic. Some sites were tightly packed and others were absolutely enormous with great views. Our site, 105, had a very tight neighboring spot on just one side (a no show which gave us a much roomier feeling) and an ample area with picnic table, fire pit, and enough room for two tents behind the pad. A short trail, albeit somewhat overgrown, at the back of our site lead right to the beach.

The campground, while quite full, was incredibly quiet. I’m sure things are different in the summer time with more families camping. The hosts and maintenance folks were all very friendly.

Perhaps my favorite part of this campground is the location with miles of beach to walk. I was surprised that with our frequent strolls on the beach with the pups, we only passed a small number of people.

The dump station worked as expected and had potable water available.

    North Whidbey RV Park

Clean, well organized RV Park for big rigs

We called early afternoon and asked if they had a space for that night for a fifth wheel with total rig length 53ft. Nice grass around all the campsites, 50 Amp electricity, water and sewer. Picnic table at every site. Lovely location but it can be noisy due to proximity to road and navy jets. Overall a great place I will stay again.

Fort Townsend Historical State Park Campground

    Better than I expected

If you're looking for a serene woodsy place to tent camp this is it! There are RV/trailer sites which are what you would expect - all in a line with no privacy between them. The tent sites all have moderate to high privacy, especially the perimeter sites. If you're in the middle of the loop then unfortunately you have people 360 degrees around you but still not terrible. I noticed that all the sites have fire pits with grills except for #2 for some reason. I would also avoid #2 and #3 as they are literally directly next to the bathrooms and there is a bright metal halide light outside the bathroom. The pull-through sites generally are more secluded and offer more natural buffers than the back-in sites do.

Within walking distance of the tent sites are large grassy fields with plenty of room for activities and games and there are several miles of easy walking trails that parallel the shore line with beautiful vistas overlooking Port Townsend Bay. One of the trails leads down to the shore which has a nice picnic table right on the shore. An added bonus for history buffs are the placards on one of the walking trails that tells the history of the park when it was an active Army base in the late 1800's. The trails are all wide and well-maintained as well as heavily shaded which is nice in the hot summer. Only of a few of the lesser used trails were quite narrow (shoulder width wide).

All in all my wife, daughter and I fell in love with this park and will definitely be reserving #1 again!

Guide to Bellingham

RV camping near Bellingham, Washington offers year-round accommodation options with varying levels of amenities and privacy. Located in the northwestern corner of Washington state, this region experiences mild, rainy winters and temperate summers with average high temperatures around 73°F in July and August. Most campgrounds in the Bellingham area sit at low elevations between sea level and 500 feet, providing easy access for larger vehicles.

What to do

Paddle in Birch Bay: The shallow, warm waters at Beachside RV Park provide excellent kayaking opportunities within walking distance of your campsite. "Quiet in town and on the unbelievably warm waters of the shallow Birch Bay just across the street," notes one camper who enjoyed the paddling options.

Explore local trails: Friday Creek Campground provides convenient access to hiking within a 15-minute drive of the Anacortes ferry terminal. A visitor mentioned the campground is "well manicured" though "not especially private," but praised its location for regional exploration.

Visit nearby parks: Thousand Trails Mount Vernon serves as a good base for day trips to natural attractions. One camper reported: "I loved the forest here. It was a very wooded site. Groceries were reasonably priced. We took a day trip to the cascades."

What campers like

Private spaces between sites: The Cedars RV Resort in Ferndale uses landscaping to create separation between camping spots. A guest appreciated that "there are trees between every camp spot to add privacy" and that "the restrooms are clean and the showers are free."

Clean facilities: Many Bellingham-area campgrounds maintain well-kept restrooms and shower facilities. At Thousand Trails Birch Bay, a camper highlighted the "very nice bathrooms" noting that they're "single rooms not shared, very private and sparkling clean!"

Convenient access to town: Riverfront RV Park in Sedro-Woolley offers urban camping with close proximity to services. A reviewer described it as "great spot for an Overnighter on the road through quaint Sedro-Woolley WA" with "easy access directly to the lake with a primitive boat launch meant for smaller, canoe-like, vessels."

What you should know

Site spacing varies significantly: Some campgrounds near Bellingham offer spacious sites while others pack RVs tightly together. At Thousand Trails Birch Bay, a camper observed that "phase 1 spots are so close you could very well 'spare a square' of TP to your neighbor. Phase 2 has a lot more room to spread out and it's nice."

Seasonal maintenance issues: Several campgrounds experience facilities maintenance challenges, particularly during peak season. At Thousand Trails La Conner, a visitor in June 2023 reported "dump stations and all campsite sewer hookups are down for maintenance. Nearest offsite dumps are 10 miles away."

Noise considerations: Highway and transportation noise affects multiple campgrounds. Mount Vernon RV Campground has "proximity to I-5, but if you bring ear plugs it's okay," according to one camper who stayed there.

Tips for camping with families

Look for campgrounds with activities: Some locations offer multiple recreation options for children. At Thousand Trails Birch Bay, a visitor noted there's "lots to do here on site, but get out and explore the town. You're sure to have a good time here."

Consider amenities beyond the campsite: Swimming pools and play areas can make a big difference for family stays. The Cedars RV Resort offers "a good dog park, pool, and friendly staff" with "a little mini mart on site."

Research accessibility needs: Beachwood Park (Sun Retreats Birch Bay) is situated in a "golf cart friendly" town where families can easily get around. One camper mentioned: "Can't say enough about how cool the town around the park was and everyone was super friendly."

Tips from RVers

Check site dimensions carefully: For RV camping near Bellingham, Washington, site sizes vary dramatically between and within parks. At Thousand Trails La Conner, a camper noted there are "some full hook ups, cabins, club house. Most sites treed although an area of parking lot type spots as well."

Cost-saving options exist: Not all RV parks charge premium rates. Norwest RV Park in Ferndale offers "small spaces but they are level and the price is right!" according to one budget-conscious RVer.

Dump station availability: Riverfront RV Park doesn't have onsite sewage disposal, but a visitor shared that there's a "free city dump station within a mile; easy to access" along with "2 clean bathrooms; no shower."
