Lots of cool places to explore around the campsite
We camp here often - at least 6-8 times a year. Lots of good sites, both pull through and back in, close restrooms and showers, and loads to do. We like to bike the trails - available for all abilities. Walking in the woods is great, too. Big pool (honestly haven't used it) and boat rentals. Pretty much everything I want in a campsite.
Visited in early September; temperature was great, but it rained quite a bit. The sun was plentiful on the second day so we were dry for at least some of the trip. We used Pocahontas State Park as a base camp for our planned activities in Richmond (Civil War sites/museum/breweries). The park has a lot of hiking trails and also offers a variety of talks and events. On our last night, we went to a blue grass performance off the back of one of the park cabin buildings and then the park rangers gave us stuff to make smores! The sites are well maintained and some are secluded enough to find solace. We will return.
campsite was nice. scenery was great
We had a llamazing time camping during our questival experience at Pocahontas state park! We told scary stories about toddlers with sharpies, made Smores with potatoes chips added in and we hiked around beaver lake!
We will definitely come back again. The park is gorgeous and well kept. The staff and other campers were very friendly.
Spent the night at Pocahontas State park last night, so beautiful! Did an early morning hike around the beaver lake trail. All of the facilities are great!
Pocahantas State Park was great! The campsites were clean and we had easy access to the water. Definitely reccommend staying here.
Had a great time. Fantastic facilities and friendly staff. Would absolutely revisit and even plan for more extensive backpacking trips.
Love the park. Lots to do, with tons of trails, ponds, playgrounds and a pool/waterpark. The sites are large and most of them pretty private.
