Overall, I’d say this spot would be fine for a stop-over, or even a couple of nights while you explore the area.
Pros: close to many area attractions, decent laundry facilities with playground right outside the laundry (big plus as we have two toddlers), nice office staff
Cons: everything is…
Cedarville State Forest is located in Charles Co., MD. It's near Waldorf which offers amenities that you might need. The campground is one loop with 27 mostly spacious sites. Some of the sites were not well tended and had tall grasses while others seemed better groomed. Most were level but some…

We have lived in northern Virginia for over 30 years and never been to this campground until this month! Very nice campground with friendly staff and friendly campground hosts. Sites are comfortably sized and provide privacy as well as allow socializing. Restrooms are extremely clean and the…
The porta potty’s were in rough shape, however the site was clear of trash and I felt safe while sleeping overnight.
We stayed here for two nights at the end of April. All the sites are very shady, which certainly comes in handy in the Virginia heat. They are also very close together--our slide was almost touching our neighbor's slide. Everybody was super friendly and we felt very comfortable letting our kids go…
For tent camping I would suggests sites 30,33 or 35 these are tucked along the tree line. The bathroom facilities were the cleanest I have seen in a campground. Quiet time was observed and there are plenty of nice trails around for hiking and biking
We tent camped there with 2 other families memorial day weekend. It rained the entire time but we still had a blast.
The best review I can give us of the bathrooms. They're with staying again alone. Locking doors, individual stalls. Hot dog. Best camping showers I've ever had.
Only draw back is…
This backcountry area truly is a hidden gem in the DC area. For those just learning to backpack or camp in dispersed or unmaintained areas, this is perfect. The hike in takes about 30-45 minutes from the parking lot that has a portable restroom. Site 2 is up on a hill, which we picked because it…
The campground isn’t too far from where I live but its far enough and quiet enough for a weekend getaway. The bathrooms were nice and clean throughout my stay and looked newly renovated.
The staff and seasonal campers are all very friendly. The bathrooms are incredibly clean. We love all the games there are to play and the dog park is our favorite spot. Overall, it's peaceful and quiet in a nice, wooded setting.
Nice quite park with plenty of space between camps.
Clean amenities. Pretty heavy rain that flooded some areas.

This campsite is just a short walk from road access- perfect for hiking in. The site has a water pump available seasonally, a toilet, and trash bags provided. Easy access to the water and enough space for a large group. The only downside is how close it is to the train tracks so it can be pretty…

It’s a great place for family and kids right on the river great for fishing and vary easy to get to just get on the trail and walk you will see it what I loved the most is they had water and a bathroom definitely recommend going
I enjoyed a nice, quiet stay here. There weren't many activities for kids but the hiking was great right from your site. The bathroom could use an update but it was clean.
We stayed at Rock Run Campground to give ourselves a few stationary days to relax since we live in an RV and are always on the go. The grounds itself is very well maintained. The women’s bathroom was clean however the showers didn’t seem well attended as a feminine hygiene product remained in one…
