Within Sawtooth National Forest, Clear Creek Campground sits at the end of a 9-mile gravel road that demands patience from drivers. This National Forest Service campground provides 12 sites spread along a small creek, with most positioned far enough apart to offer privacy from neighboring campers.
The access road presents the campground's biggest challenge. Reviewers consistently describe washboard surfaces and bumpy conditions that slow travel to 10-15 mph for RVs and passenger cars, though pickup trucks handle the route more easily. The road ends at the campground with limited turnaround space, forcing larger vehicles to either cross ankle-deep creek water or back out along the narrow route.
Sites feature cement fire rings and access to drinking water and toilets. The creek runs directly beside many camping spots, providing constant background sound that masks other noise. Austin T. found the facilities maintained well, noting "campsite was clean, bathrooms were clean." Hikers can access a 3-mile trail leading to a large cirque and the high point of Box Elder County. Cell service does not reach the campground.
Campers looking for regional alternatives can explore places to camp near Park Valley for easier road access. The campground typically sees light use during weekdays, making it suitable for those wanting solitude alongside creek sounds.
