Best Cabin Camping near Laketown, UT

Cabin accommodations near Laketown concentrate around Bear Lake with several KOA options and private resorts offering a range of furnished structures. Bear Lake/Trail Side KOA Journey provides cabins equipped with television, microwave, and refrigerator, while Bear Lake/Marina Side KOA Holiday offers more deluxe cabin options with private amenities at some sites. Sun Outdoors Garden City Utah features lakefront cabin rentals with full hookups and clean facilities. A visitor mentioned that "cabins are new with TV (local channels only), microwave and refrigerator."

Rustic to modern cabin accommodations vary significantly throughout the region. The Egan Basin Guard Station offers a remote A-frame cabin without electricity or water, requiring guests to bring all supplies. Blacksmith Fork Guard Station provides a more equipped experience with cooking utensils, dishes, propane refrigerator, and stove included. Many cabins require advance reservations, particularly during summer months when Bear Lake visitation peaks. Pet policies differ between properties, with most KOAs allowing pets while Conestoga Ranch prohibits them. According to one review, the Blacksmith Fork cabin is "the perfect mix of outdoors (no running water, no wi-fi) with some comforts with the stove and beds."

Most cabin facilities include beds but guests typically need to bring their own linens, pillows, and towels. Kitchen amenities range from basic microwaves in KOA cabins to full cooking setups with propane stoves in guard stations. On-site camp stores at KOA locations and Sun Outdoors provide basic provisions, though selection is limited. Forest Service cabins require all supplies be brought in, with the nearest resupply points often an hour away. A review of Egan Basin Guard Station noted it's "about an hour + to get somewhere where you can get water or other supplies, so you will need to plan accordingly."

    Conestoga Ranch

    Total Glamping experience

Conestoga Ranch is a destination that gives luxury a down home feel.

Located in Garden City, Utah on the beautiful Bear Lake Conestoga Ranch offers luxury tents and a chance to stay in a covered wagon.

I stayed in a larger, more luxurious site because my wife and I were on our Anniversary weekend.

The tent had a king bed, shower, and deep claw foot tub. The decor is charmingly rustic with log furnishings and tin and raw pipe for plumbing and accessories, this is all intentional and makes the experience even better.

Onsite, there are clean shower rooms and rest rooms, laundry facilities, an arcade, and a very fine restaurant and lounge.

Upon check in, you park by the office and a attendant takes you and your gear up to your site, later on a fire concierge will come and start your fire as you relax and take in all the beauty around you.

Bear Lake offers so much opportunity for recreation, from boating, to side x side rentals to beaches, mountain biking and some shopping.

This luxury comes at a price...a pretty steep price for camping, rates vary, but staying before memorial day gave us the better rate.

I do think that the price is worth the wonderful experiences that we had at this fun little place.

    Have a great time.

    Sun Outdoors Garden City Utah

    On the beach!

This campground seems like it is one of the closer campgrounds to the water. It's pet-friendly, has full hookups, picnic tables, and wifi. The nice thing about this campground is it does have a beach as well as water/lake access. Not as many amenities as the KOA (Bear Lake/Marina Side).

The bathhouse was very clean. Did seem less busy than the KOA (Bear Lake/Marina Side).

    Blacksmith Fork Guard Station

    Everything you need is there!

We have stayed at this campsite for a few years in a row and plan to keep coming back. The guard station comes fully equipped with cooking utensils and dishes and cleaning supplies. It also includes a propane refrigerator and stove. There are plenty of hiking and biking trails nearby. It does get busy, and you do hear the ATVs going up and down the road all day. There is also a river/stream that runs behind the cabin that is great for fishing. The cabin itself is clean and well maintained. Its the perfect mix of outdoors (no running water, no wi-fi) with some comforts with the stove and beds in the cabin. Great for families who want a little less remote camping experience.

    Egan Basin Guard Station

    Peaceful, Remote and Beautiful

For $30 a night this camping site is a real deal! The site is well maintained, and the A-frame cabin on the site was perfect for our family of 5. The cabin and campsite has no electricity and no water, so you need to pack it all in. Its nice to have a chance to get away from technology and enjoy the outdoors. It is about an hour + to get somewhere where you can get water or other supplies, so you will need to plan accordingly.

Pros: remote, peaceful, quiet. Some nice trails nearby for hiking and mountain biking and ATVs. Also there is a stream that runs along the road to the cabin that is available for fishing. Also, although there are other campsites along the road to the guard station, once at the cabin (about 1/4 off the main forest road), you don't even know there are other people around.

Cons: When we were there LOTS of mosquitos, the forest service road to the guard station gate is a little rough in some places. For those without AWD or 4WD might have a hard time in places.

    Hyrum State Park Campground

    Small peaceful state park

We love state parks and decided to try Hyrum Stare Park for a couple of nights as we were heading south. This state park is basically in the middle of a neighborhood of a small community. Locals seem to love it but it’s not crowded at all.. It’s right on a small lake with a boat ramp and a small beach. The campground is small… about 8 or 9 sites with w/e and about a dozen sites with dry camping. All the sites are paved (even the dry camping sites) and level. Grassy and shady on most sites. Two bathhouses and a dump on site. Picnic tables and fire rings at each site. They also have a couple of cabins available. No store but there is a few things close by to get ice and a few things. It is totally fenced and gated. The gates close at 10pm and open at 6am. Very peaceful and enjoyable!

Cottonwood Campground — Willard Bay State Park

    State campground close to highway

Two loops that we saw, the first has no hook ups and the second has power and water at each site. There’s a little paved slab with a picnic table and covering, each site has a fire pit and charcoal grill. $30 for no hook ups $40 for hookups, got in around 8pm and no $30 sites left. There are toilets and showers for each loop. Really close to the highway so be prepared for that noise, and there’s a train that goes by every so often.

    North Fork County Park

    Nice, spacious, and secluded

Enough trees to keep your site private, able to fit a 30' trailer in over 75% of their spots, and holy cow the number of spots they have, this place is the size of 4 good sized camp grounds combined. Fire pits and picnic tables included, but that's all that's included so pack your generator and fill your water.... 5 stars it's exactly the get away we were looking for.

    Montpelier Creek KOA

Beautiful KOA on the Wyoming/ Idaho border

I like staying at KOA’s during road trips - I choose a cabin so I can have a bed, there are plenty of things for the kids to do and everyone can find their pace/place to wind down from the day. Some are definitely better than others - Montpelier Creek was one of the BEST. This is a beautiful KOA. Our cabin was right on the creek, and I found my pace and place on the porch and nature trail watching birds and listening to the creek while the kids enjoyed the pool and playground. Everything was in great shape, including the shower house. Wonderful area with lots of history and natural beauty.

    Bear Lake/Marina Side KOA Holiday

Beautifully developed site with all you need

We love this campground! There are a variety of ways to camp here, tent, RV, cabins and the set up allows for privacy. It really feels like a resort. There is an amazing playground for kids, swimming pool, and jumping pillow.

The area is stunningly beautiful and relaxed. The store next to the entrance is amazingly well stocked with all you’d need.

We stayed in an RV supersite that included a private hot tub and BBQ grill.

Sun Outdoors Garden City Utah (formerly Blue Water Beach Resort) offers beachfront cabin rentals that book quickly. "This campground seems like it is one of the closer campgrounds to the water. It's pet-friendly, has full hookups, picnic tables, and wifi," reports GoWhereYouAreDraw N.

Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly amenities: Bear Lake/Trail Side KOA Journey offers specific features for children. "Awesome place for kids. They loved all the activities available to them. Right close to the shops and ice cream shakes," reports David T., who adds "You can ask for passes for the larger KOA down the street. This gets you into the pool and everything the big KOA has."

Spacing considerations: Some cabin areas place units close together. "These sites are pretty dang close. This is a perfect place to go with family, because you basically share a site with the person next to you," notes David T. about Trail Side KOA.

Tips from RVers

Cleanliness standards: Bathroom and shower facilities vary significantly between properties. At Brigham City-Perry South KOA, "Showers are free, hot, and clean. There's a well-stocked store, laundry room, propane fill-up, etc.," reports Jen R., though she notes sites are "packed like sardines."

Site spacing: RV sites with cabins typically provide limited separation. "Each pitch is no wider than 15', which actually makes it pretty challenging to back in. There isn't really any outside space, unless you want to squeeze some chairs next to your neighbor's sewer hookup," observes Jen R. about the Brigham City KOA.

Seasonal considerations: Fall and spring offer less crowded experiences. "Quiet time of year here which was great. Lake is beautiful, facilities clean," notes Ben F. about Sun Outdoors Garden City, highlighting the benefits of off-peak visits.
