Best RV Parks & Resorts near Joseph, UT

Several RV parks in Sevier County provide full hookup options near state parks and outdoor recreation areas. Sevier River RV Park features pull-through sites with water, electric, and sewer connections, plus a fishing pond where RVs can set up near the water. Monroe Canyon RV Park, established in 2021, offers spacious gravel sites that accommodate larger rigs with full hookups and mountain views. South Forty RV Park in Marysvale maintains 75 sites available from April through mid-October with 50-amp service. "The sites are all very large pull throughs, so we would not have to unhook if we did not need the F250 to roam the area. The site is wide enough to park your tow vehicle next to your rig if you were so inclined."

Cell service varies throughout the region, with visitors reporting good coverage for Verizon and most major carriers at Monroe Canyon RV Park. Most parks in the area welcome pets and provide trash collection, though amenities differ significantly between properties. Dump stations are available at larger facilities including Venture RV in Richfield and Love's RV Hookup in Fillmore. During peak ATV riding seasons, particularly summer weekends, reservation availability becomes limited as many visitors bring off-road vehicles to access nearby trail systems. Winter travelers should verify year-round operations, as several parks close seasonally. A recent review noted, "We stayed in 5 different RV parks over a span of 15 nights and this was the only one that did not meet expectations. Should you choose to stay here, keep your expectations in check."

    Wagons West RV Campground

    Dated but inexpensive

No concrete pads, just gravel with grass and picnic tables between. The landscaping looks a little overgrown. The fencing around the small dog park isn’t secure.

Office and laundry facilities are closed on Sundays. Bathrooms are small but clean with one toilet stall and two shower stalls each.

Full hookups and pull through spaces. Wi-Fi is available but we didn’t test it.

It’s a very quiet place. Fillmore has a Best Western with a golf course, a few gas stations and a Carls Jr.

    Thousand Lakes RV Park

    OMG what views

First of all staff is amazing, so friendly and consistent maintenance routines (not annoying though).

Sites are all gravel with a little grass patch, pull through sites could fit two side by side. All sites seemed to have a table and fire ring. The views on the north and east were stunning, North was all back in and East had some pull through spots, aim for these if you can. They also have tent and cabin sites available.

Facilities were very clean. Office/general store was nice, all the basics; food, ice, wood and souvenirs. Pool is small but well kept. There is a large park area in the center with a playground and volleyball court. Super kid friendly. Bathroom/shower were very clean, a little reminiscent of my scouting days though having plywood doors and gate hinges, does the job though.

Only bad things I can say is that it’s not walking distance to town and no adult beverages sold. Plan ahead and that should not be a problem.

I will definitely stay here again given the chance.

    Monroe Canyon RV Park

Brand new RV park, long & wide sites, FHU, wifi and amazing mountain views

Let me not lie. We were up near Salt Lake City, we were waiting for WY to warm up a little and i wanted to get Starlink- but the area we were in was oversubscribed. I stumbled across this RV park while researching and called- spoke to the owner, Jordan. He is the nicest bloke, ever obliging, polite and a delight to deal with. He is a genuine guy who will do well for himself(I do sometimes get tired of the jaded hosts at other sites who feel like they are doing you a favor) We are so glad we stumbled across this gem of a park, as this has been most pleasant. For example. The are 100% sold out for Memorial Day weekend, but Jordan has offered that we can dry-camp as i finish out the work week. We are 30 foot 5th wheel, with solar and LIPO batteries(in fact, some days we ran off of solar completely except for those times we needed heaters or air-conditioners running.) OK, enough background. First.. The beautiful red barn is the building that has laundry, bathrooms and a functions venue. They actually rent this out for weddings, reunions or whatever occasion you wish to celebrate. This is a brand-new RV Park, big spacious sites with new utilities- full hookup at about$41 a night- with delightful 360 degree beautiful mountain views- the further ones still capped in snow. The sites are all very large pull throughs, so we would not have to unhook if we did not need the F250 to roam the area. The site is wide enough to park your tow vehicle next to your rig if you were so inclined. The full hookups all worked perfectly. There is wifi that was more than serviceable, it was good when i tested it. I was experimenting with my Starlink- which worked great here. My Visible and my Verizon worked great for data also. Cricket was great for phone calls. T-Mobile had good download but miserable upload speeds- hardly conducive to Teams calls. The facilities are great. About 5 washers and dryers. Laundry and shower are coin driven, but well worth the price. The park is so new that Jordan was planting trees at some sites this week. We travel extensively around the states, and intend to stop here whenever we are anywhere nearby- we want to watch this park grow and mature. Sitting outside having a BBQ watching hang-gliders over the closest mountain range is a great way to end the day. Highly recommend this RV park, we will return! We loved the whole experience at Monroe Canyon RV Park. As an added bonus, all the locals are so friendly.

Castle Rock Campground — Fremont Indian State Park

    Comfortable campground close to I-70

Castle Rock campground in Fishlake National forest is one of two campgrounds that serve Utah's Fremont Indian State Park, with both administration and reservations handled through the Utah State Park system. When I visited it was both very clean and very well maintained. Despite being close to the interstate, it is far enough up a side canyon that you do not hear the traffic on the road. It feels like being much further from civilization.

There are 44 camp sites available, many alongside the creek that flows through the campground. About 2/3 are reservable, the rest are available daily as FCFS. Two have teepees for those lacking a tent. Several are double sites for larger groups, and there are a variety of pull through vs in/out options.

There is available potable water at several locations around the campground, and two restroom facilities - a full flush unit near the center of the grounds, and a double pit at the south end of the loop.

Every site has a fire pit, an elevated grill, and a picnic table.

There is an access road from the campground to the Paiute ATV trail. For hikers, the south end of the campground is the north origin of the Joe Lott Trail that heads into the Fishlake National Forest. The facilities of Fremont Indian State Park are about 1/2 mile away, on the opposite side of I-70, and include a small museum of Fremont life, and a variety of improved and unimproved trails leading to many rock art sites.

    Wonderland RV Park

    Great park!

Clean, well maintained, shady sites.  There is a nice dog run on the premises as well as grass areas throughout.  Clean facilities and friendly staff.

A perfect stay for us while we visiting National Parks in the area.

    Beaver KOA/ Bryce Canyon

    Pleasant Surprise

This location has clean bathrooms and showers centrally located on the grounds. So it doesn’t matter if you’re in a tent or RV, it’s a close distance for everyone. They are also pet friendly with trash cans and doggie bags placed around the site. Our tent area included water/electric, a picnic table, and fire pit/grill. We really enjoyed our little grass area and the quiet surroundings!

Sam Stowe Campground — Fremont Indian State Park

Ranger Review: Travelers Autobarn Campervan at Fremont Indian State Park

We spent a fun day exploring Cedar Breaks National Monument. However, we lost track of time, the sun was setting and we had not chosen a place to camp.

Campground Review of Fremont Indian State Park:

We searched on TheDyrt app for nearby campgrounds and found Fremont Indian State Park. We drove down the mountain and around another mountain and found the campground. It was totally dark by the time that we arrived and so we quickly parked and set up our campervan to sleep.

A gentleman emerged from the shadows and approached our site. It seemed a little sketchy at first. However, he ended up being friendly and inquired if we’d like to join him and his friends around their campfire. After we prepared our campervan and cleaned up a bit, we dropped by the campfire. It turns out the party included some park staff and researchers. One lady was researching dark skies and one gentleman was researching astral alignment with ancient rock art. They shared about their research and showed us some of their amazing photos of the night sky. A warm way to end the day.

The next morning, we woke up to snow on the ground and the nearby mountaintops. Having learned from our new friends that the park contained some pretty significant rock art, we decided that we should check it out. We hiked on a couple of the trails and discovered quite a few of the rock art pieces created by the Fremont Indians. There's an easy trail that is located adjacent to the park office. There are other trails that run along the river. It is amazing that so much of the rock art was in such good condition.

The campsites provide the basics like a parking space, picnic table, electrical & water hookup and firepit/grill. The restrooms were conveniently located close to our campsite and were clean. There are showers behind the restrooms. During the winter the showers may be closed. The campground is somewhat small, but is surrounded by beautiful mountains and bluffs. The staff were super friendly and helpful.

Product Review of Travelers Autobarn Campervans:

As a Ranger for The Dyrt, from time to time I am provided products to test. For this outing I was provided a Travelers Autobarn Kuga Campervan.

    For more info: https://www.travellers-autobarnrv.com

The best thing about traveling in a campervan is the ease, flexibility, and ability to make detours if needed.

We picked up our Kuga Campervan in Las Vegas. The Travelers Autobarn office is just west of the the main strip and easy to find. We arrived early in the day to begin the registration process and campervan orientation. The process was quick and easy. The Kuga Campervan is a hightop van conversion with couches, a table, two beds, propane stove, sink, water, kitchen, interior lights, fan, window shades and solar power. We also had the free living package which included kitchen pots, pans, utensils, cups and accessories. It also included sleeping bags, sheets, pillows and towels. The package pretty much made it super easy to get in the van and go.

The Travelers Autobarn staff member was super friendly and provided an orientation of the basic operation of the campervan. The campervan drives like a normal van, but learning about the camper functions was helpful.

We had charted a route around Utah and Arizona visiting a number of towns, parks, roadside attractions and hot springs. The day that we started a weather system passed through which made the temperatures drop in the northern part of our route. We simply flipped our route to avoid the cold weather and traveled the southern route first. By the time that we circled north the weather had warmed up and it was perfect weather for exploring. Traveling in a campervan made it super easy to be flexible with our route and schedule.

On our seven day trip we visited Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument, Horseshoe Bend National Monument. Monument Valley National Park, Arches National Park, Mystic Hotsprings, Zion National Park, Cedar Breaks National Monument, Meadow Hotsprings, Valley of Fire State Park and Fremont Indian State Park.

If we were not traveling in a campervan it is unlikely that we would have had the flexibility to camp anytime and anywhere. We would have never found and stayed at Fremont Indian State Park. It ended up being a gem of a park and a great overall experience. This campervan camping adventure opened up my mind to new opportunities and travels. So much fun!

    Little Cottonwood Campground

    convenient and nice

Convenient NFS campground close to the interstate that makes you feel you are way back in the national forest.  Small but nice campground right on the Beaver river which was flowing fast and was enjoyable to sit by.

Hosts were just arriving for the season and worked hard to get the restroom cleaned and functioning.  Thank you for your work!

No trash service or dumpster in campground but a collection station was only a mile away so easy to drop trash when leaving the next morning.  Water convenient to each site.  No cell service and in reach satellite struggled to get connection.

Would have rated 5 stars except neighbors generator ran all night at the top of each hour for 10 minutes which diminished the enjoyment from the sounds of the river.

Will definitely stay here again maybe even for several days.

Castle Rock Campground — Fremont Indian State Park

    Great view, quiet, and relaxing

Family stopped to check out on the 3rd of July and there were many open spots. Had a 29' toy hauler and the roads in camp were good for us. There were a few pull through spots that made it easy.

Guide to Joseph

Sevier County offers several RV campgrounds near Joseph, Utah where campers can access the extensive Paiute Trail system. The area sits at elevations between 5,000-7,000 feet with dramatic mountain views in all directions. Most parks open from April through October, though a few larger facilities operate year-round with winter camping options.

What to do

Trail riding access: The Paiute Trail system can be accessed directly from Monroe Canyon RV Park, allowing riders to go from site to trail within minutes. "This is a great ATVers heaven as you can drive your ATV directly from the campground to the trails," shares one camper who noted the campground was filling quickly with ATVs in tow.

Fishing opportunities: Multiple stocked ponds and river access points provide fishing options at Sevier River RV Park. A reviewer caught "5 brown trout all 10-12 inches" during their stay, while another mentioned the pleasant experience of walking "down to the river and fished for small fish."

Cultural exploration: Fremont Indian State Park sits near several campgrounds and offers educational opportunities. "We found this to be a very interesting park to see petroglyphs and rock art, along with some examination of cultures and explorers," notes a camper who appreciated the easy access to hundreds of miles of off-road trails from their campsite.

What campers like

Wildlife viewing: Fishlake National Forest Doctor Creek Campground offers unique natural surroundings. "Best part is you get to sleep inside Pando!" exclaimed one visitor, referring to the massive aspen clone forest system. The campground provides both potable and non-potable water stations with views overlooking the lake.

Mountain scenery: The 360-degree mountain vistas impress visitors at most area campgrounds. One reviewer at Monroe Canyon RV Park described "spectacular 360° view of the mountains" with the furthest peaks "still capped in snow," providing dramatic backgrounds for outdoor meals and activities.

Paved recreation paths: Some parks offer access to riverside paths. "There is a gorgeous paved bike path that runs along the river, nearby," mentioned a visitor to South Forty RV Park, which also features trail access and shaded sites with trees at each location.

What you should know

Campground development stages: Several parks in the area are relatively new or undergoing renovations. A reviewer at Sevier River RV Park noted they're "doing a great job planning and building up this new park" and looked forward to returning to see progress, while another recommended to "keep your expectations in check" during development phases.

Reservation policies vary: At Wagons West RV Campground, sites can be booked on short notice, while South Forty RV Park requires advance planning during peak riding seasons. Most campgrounds don't allow site selection ahead of time, with one camper noting: "The only thing I didn't love is that you don't get to reserve a specific site. They assign one to you when you arrive."

Weather considerations: Mountain weather changes rapidly in this region. Spring and fall bring temperature swings while summer afternoons often see thunderstorms. Winter travelers should verify which facilities remain open, as one camper at Doctor Creek noted they found it "when all the other campgrounds were closed."

Tips for camping with families

Wildlife feeding opportunities: Some parks offer unique animal interactions for children. At Sevier River RV Park, "The office provided food so our 3-year-old granddaughter could feed those birds" at the enclosed area containing chickens and turkeys.

Stargazing conditions: Cove Fort RV Park offers exceptional night sky viewing due to minimal light pollution. A camper appreciated "the lack of ambient light. Went out at night and it was pitch black with sky full of stars," making for memorable family astronomy sessions.

Water activities beyond fishing: Doctor Creek Campground provides swimming access during summer months. "Fishing, boating... really it has a lot of activities," though one visitor noted "No solitude though, if that is what you are after," as the area attracts many summer visitors.

Tips from RVers

Hookup extensions needed: Some sites require longer-than-standard utility connections. A reviewer at Bowery Haven mentioned "full hook up. Some of which were further away than standard sized hoses and cord so be prepared."

Pull-through site dimensions: Monroe Canyon RV Park features extra-wide sites that accommodate large rigs and tow vehicles. "The sites are all very large pull throughs," with enough width that "the site is wide enough to park your tow vehicle next to your rig if you were so inclined."

Cell service information: Connectivity varies by location and carrier. At Monroe Canyon RV Park, one camper reported: "My Visible and my Verizon worked great for data also. Cricket was great for phone calls. T-Mobile had good download but miserable upload speeds—hardly conducive to Teams calls."
