    Zion Canyon Campground

Incredible location to fully enjoy Zion National Park. It's worth it.

Incredible location to fully enjoy Zion National Park. Very clean campground despite being full. The staff is friendly. The sites are very close to each other but they took care to keep the sewers away from our view. Air-conditioned bathroom. One free shower of 6 minutes max per night but it's enough. Shuttle to the park on the corner of the street or 10 minutes walk to reach the Visitor Center. Incredible view of the mountains including The Watchman!!

South Campground — Zion National Park

    Great campground

This campground is great for exploring Zion National Park. Each campsite has a fire pit and picnic table. There are restrooms with running water and electricity. Only a short walk from a shuttle station and Visitor’s Center. We also had deer around our campsite every morning and evening.

    Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort

Most amenities of any campground I've ever seen

We were just looking for a place to sleep, checked out the first camping outside of Zion east entrance and decided to check out the next closest one according to info from the Zion ranger. Info said 2 miles, but more like 7-8. Upon arrival my kids eyes lit up and we booked 3 mid week nights. Free, private hot showers. Dish was station. Free pool and hot tub, ball sports, playground and fitness trail. Pay for stuff like bungie trampoline and rock wall and put put. 2 camp stores recently equipped, even individual beers(4%). Our site was a little small, tent was to close to the fire ring to feel comfortable with a fire. We peaked at the glamping tents and were jealous, maybe next time. Great spot at $30 a night plus taxes etc.

    Zion West RV Park

Convenient location to Bryce and Zion

I have stayed here twice in 2020. Once in January and again in July. I haven’t stayed in an rv but they do have glamping tents and tiny houses to rent on Airbnb for reasonable prices.

This place is about 45 minutes from Zion National park and 2 hours from Bryce Canyon.

There’s a laundry room for you to do laundry (bring your own quarters) and the bathrooms are nice and clean. You don’t get as much privacy for the showers as I’d prefer but it’s not that terrible since I think only Airbnb guests uses the restrooms and not the rv guests. WiFi was available for us which helped plan our hikes.

There are tables around the laundry room building to sit at and relax. It’s a very quiet campground too which made sitting out in the evening very peaceful. The owners are so nice and accommodating. Cell service was okay but goes in and out (1-2 bars for Verizon)

    Zion River Resort

Nice RV Park, wifi is slow though

The park itself is nice. Full hook ups, heated pool and hot tub. Restrooms and laundry on site. Propane also on site. There are also a series of fenced in dog parks (3). So if you have dogs that don’t get along with other dogs that’s a plus because you can just go in a different one. The wifi is kind of hit or miss sometimes though. When the park is full at peak times good luck streaming anything. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I wouldn’t spring for the back in river spots unless you just want privacy behind you. The view for us isn’t that great as there is a rock wall behind you so your view is actually of that unless you have a very big rig. It is very close to Springdale and Zion National Park which is very convenient and why we chose it so four stars.

    Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort

    Stay here!

Beautiful resort, deer everywhere, tons of activities, mini golf, 2 pools and 2 hot tubs, heated bathrooms and showers, restaurants food wasn't very good but the staff was super friendly. It was really cold in October, snowed shortly after arrival. Our site was huge, had 2 fire pits and a picnic table. Not too far from the bathroom. We stayed at site 10 but 11 had the best views in my opinion. Observation point trail is here plus more!

    Snow Canyon State Park Campground

    Not what we had hoped

We reserved several nights here, based on the expectation of cell reception and electric. I'm working remotely, so these are must haves. When we got there, we found that there was zero service on either of our carriers, and no WiFi available.

Only the RV sites have power, and the RV sites were pathetically small. They were basically parking spots with tiny shared picnic tables between them. It looked more like a Walmart parking lot than a campsite. Very disappointing.

If you're able to go without power and internet, the tent sites were fairly nice. But if you need either, look elsewhere.

    Zion Canyon Campground

    Beautiful and convenient

Lovely spot with a river running along one side, but only people with river spots have access to it! Conveniently within the nice town of Springdale and very close to park entrance. The spots are narrow and not private, very close to neighbors. Campfires are allowed which is both a pro and con because the canyon tends to trap all the smoke and it gets difficult to breathe with so many fires. Many restaurants are within walking distance. It’s a great spot if you will be spending most of your time away from camp in the park or in town.

Guide to Ivins

Snow Canyon State Park Campground sits just 7 miles northwest of Ivins, Utah at an elevation of approximately 3,000 feet. The park features a unique landscape of petrified sand dunes, lava flows, and limestone cliffs created by ancient volcanic activity. During summer months, temperatures regularly exceed 100°F, while winter nights can drop to freezing, making spring and fall the most comfortable camping seasons.

What to Do

Desert Night Hiking: Plan evening adventures in spring at Snow Canyon State Park Campground when temperatures cool. Jake C. notes, "I'd recommend this as an early spring camp outing. The temps climb quickly in Southern Utah in late spring. My kids had a blast in the sand dune area."

Water Recreation: Visit nearby state parks for swimming and boating, just 20 minutes from your campsite. A reviewer at Zion River Resort shares, "This camp site was awesome! Had plenty of openings, reasonable price and full hookup! At the site we were on there was a creek behind us which we loved and so did our dogs!"

Off-Season Exploration: Take advantage of winter's mild temperatures for hiking with fewer crowds. One visitor at Snow Canyon State Park Campground reports, "Nicely kept state park, safe, on outskirts of St. George UT. Great red rock/lava flow hiking trail options, most are easy/moderate, nice loop through Snow Canyon and around on mesa and back for road cycling."

What Campers Like

Unique Accommodations: Experience yurt camping near Ivins, Utah at Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort where canvas structures provide a comfortable middle ground between tenting and cabins. One guest explains, "We finished out our Spring Break Outdoor recreation trip by clamping in one of the canvas tents at Ponderosa. I'd never been so excited to sleep in a bed. We slept with 5 people in each tent."

Riverside Relaxation: Enjoy creekside camping opportunities with natural water sounds. At Kolob Gate Gardens, campers appreciate the natural soundtrack: "We had an incredible stay at Kolob Gate Gardens! Our favorite parts were the adorable night hike up the hill, listening to the creek from our tent at night, and their camp kitty, TB, who we couldn't resist sneaking into our tent for lots of cuddles."

Alternative Entry Points: Access Zion National Park through less crowded entrances. A visitor to South Campground advises, "This is a National Park campground. The sites are pretty close together, amenities are minimal, and it is busy. The convenience of staying in the park and walking to the shuttle is worth it; at least you eliminate parking and waiting to get into the park."

What You Should Know

Reservation Timing: Book early for popular yurt and glamping options near Ivins, Utah. South Campground specifies, "Reservations can be made two weeks before your stay, and you can only reserve three nights. We reserved a site for three nights and then waited three days to reserve a site for two more nights."

Summer Heat Management: Prepare for extreme heat from June through September. Temperatures at Snow Canyon State Park Campground can make facilities uncomfortable: "Bathhouse sinks. Hot water. Water faucet. Hot water. Great camp site though. Hard to tell overall how good this place could have been due to hot water everywhere in Hot June."
