Best Cabin Camping near Hyrum, UT

Hyrum State Park Campground features several rentable cabins situated along the lake with views of the surrounding mountains. The furnished units include basic amenities and electricity, with most providing picnic tables, fire rings, and grills outside each structure. The cabins accommodate families or small groups, offering alternatives to tent camping during colder seasons. "The cabin itself is clean and well maintained. It's the perfect mix of outdoors with some comforts with the stove and beds in the cabin," according to one visitor. Blacksmith Fork Guard Station offers another cabin option in the area, complete with propane refrigerator and stove, cooking utensils, dishes, and cleaning supplies.

Rustic and deluxe cabins are both available, depending on the location. The Brigham City-Perry South KOA provides typical KOA-style cabin accommodations with varying levels of furnishings. Most cabins require advance reservations, particularly during summer months when demand increases. Pet policies vary by campground, with some allowing dogs in designated cabins for additional fees. A visitor noted that Blacksmith Fork Guard Station offers "the perfect mix of outdoors (no running water, no wi-fi) with some comforts with the stove and beds in the cabin. Great for families who want a little less remote camping experience."

Most cabins include beds but require visitors to bring their own linens, towels, and toiletries. Kitchen facilities range from fully-equipped with refrigerators and stoves at Blacksmith Fork Guard Station to minimal setups requiring guests to bring cooking equipment. Bathroom facilities are typically located in central buildings rather than inside cabins, though arrangements vary by location. Hyrum State Park maintains "clean bathrooms and plenty of hot water" as one review mentioned. On-site stores at some locations offer basic provisions, though comprehensive grocery shopping requires a trip to nearby towns.

    Hyrum State Park Campground

    Small peaceful state park

We love state parks and decided to try Hyrum Stare Park for a couple of nights as we were heading south. This state park is basically in the middle of a neighborhood of a small community. Locals seem to love it but it’s not crowded at all.. It’s right on a small lake with a boat ramp and a small beach. The campground is small… about 8 or 9 sites with w/e and about a dozen sites with dry camping. All the sites are paved (even the dry camping sites) and level. Grassy and shady on most sites. Two bathhouses and a dump on site. Picnic tables and fire rings at each site. They also have a couple of cabins available. No store but there is a few things close by to get ice and a few things. It is totally fenced and gated. The gates close at 10pm and open at 6am. Very peaceful and enjoyable!

    Conestoga Ranch

    Total Glamping experience

Conestoga Ranch is a destination that gives luxury a down home feel.

Located in Garden City, Utah on the beautiful Bear Lake Conestoga Ranch offers luxury tents and a chance to stay in a covered wagon.

I stayed in a larger, more luxurious site because my wife and I were on our Anniversary weekend.

The tent had a king bed, shower, and deep claw foot tub. The decor is charmingly rustic with log furnishings and tin and raw pipe for plumbing and accessories, this is all intentional and makes the experience even better.

Onsite, there are clean shower rooms and rest rooms, laundry facilities, an arcade, and a very fine restaurant and lounge.

Upon check in, you park by the office and a attendant takes you and your gear up to your site, later on a fire concierge will come and start your fire as you relax and take in all the beauty around you.

Bear Lake offers so much opportunity for recreation, from boating, to side x side rentals to beaches, mountain biking and some shopping.

This luxury comes at a price...a pretty steep price for camping, rates vary, but staying before memorial day gave us the better rate.

I do think that the price is worth the wonderful experiences that we had at this fun little place.

    Have a great time.

    Sun Outdoors Garden City Utah

    On the beach!

This campground seems like it is one of the closer campgrounds to the water. It's pet-friendly, has full hookups, picnic tables, and wifi. The nice thing about this campground is it does have a beach as well as water/lake access. Not as many amenities as the KOA (Bear Lake/Marina Side).

The bathhouse was very clean. Did seem less busy than the KOA (Bear Lake/Marina Side).

    Blacksmith Fork Guard Station

    Everything you need is there!

We have stayed at this campsite for a few years in a row and plan to keep coming back. The guard station comes fully equipped with cooking utensils and dishes and cleaning supplies. It also includes a propane refrigerator and stove. There are plenty of hiking and biking trails nearby. It does get busy, and you do hear the ATVs going up and down the road all day. There is also a river/stream that runs behind the cabin that is great for fishing. The cabin itself is clean and well maintained. Its the perfect mix of outdoors (no running water, no wi-fi) with some comforts with the stove and beds in the cabin. Great for families who want a little less remote camping experience.

    Egan Basin Guard Station

    Peaceful, Remote and Beautiful

For $30 a night this camping site is a real deal! The site is well maintained, and the A-frame cabin on the site was perfect for our family of 5. The cabin and campsite has no electricity and no water, so you need to pack it all in. Its nice to have a chance to get away from technology and enjoy the outdoors. It is about an hour + to get somewhere where you can get water or other supplies, so you will need to plan accordingly.

Pros: remote, peaceful, quiet. Some nice trails nearby for hiking and mountain biking and ATVs. Also there is a stream that runs along the road to the cabin that is available for fishing. Also, although there are other campsites along the road to the guard station, once at the cabin (about 1/4 off the main forest road), you don't even know there are other people around.

Cons: When we were there LOTS of mosquitos, the forest service road to the guard station gate is a little rough in some places. For those without AWD or 4WD might have a hard time in places.

Cottonwood Campground — Willard Bay State Park

    State campground close to highway

Two loops that we saw, the first has no hook ups and the second has power and water at each site. There’s a little paved slab with a picnic table and covering, each site has a fire pit and charcoal grill. $30 for no hook ups $40 for hookups, got in around 8pm and no $30 sites left. There are toilets and showers for each loop. Really close to the highway so be prepared for that noise, and there’s a train that goes by every so often.

    North Fork County Park

    Nice, spacious, and secluded

Enough trees to keep your site private, able to fit a 30' trailer in over 75% of their spots, and holy cow the number of spots they have, this place is the size of 4 good sized camp grounds combined. Fire pits and picnic tables included, but that's all that's included so pack your generator and fill your water.... 5 stars it's exactly the get away we were looking for.

    Bear Lake/Marina Side KOA Holiday

Beautifully developed site with all you need

We love this campground! There are a variety of ways to camp here, tent, RV, cabins and the set up allows for privacy. It really feels like a resort. There is an amazing playground for kids, swimming pool, and jumping pillow.

The area is stunningly beautiful and relaxed. The store next to the entrance is amazingly well stocked with all you’d need.

We stayed in an RV supersite that included a private hot tub and BBQ grill.

Ladyfinger Campground — Antelope Island State Park

    Great sites on Salt Lake

There’s 2 or 3 loops in the state park, we got one of the walk up sites on a Friday night. $20 and includes entrance fee, you check in at the guard station at the entrance and they said park gates close at 10pm.

Had a great view and were able to walk to trail heads. Our section had vault toilets for each group of campsites, huge fire pits and two picnic tables at each site. Only con is that the brine flies were outrageous!! I know outside comes with bugs, but this was like a different level! They actually chilled out once the sun went down but during the day constantly landing all over us. So just be mentally prepared.

Guide to Hyrum

Cabins near Hyrum, Utah sit at elevations between 4,600-5,700 feet, creating cooler summer nights compared to Utah's lower valleys. The Cache Valley area receives moderate precipitation year-round, with snowfall making winter cabin rentals particularly popular. Many cabin accommodations in this region include fire rings with access to hiking trails within walking distance.

What to do

Fishing access: Hyrum State Park Campground offers cabins adjacent to fishing spots where visitors can catch rainbow trout and smallmouth bass. "This is a great campground, the host is really nice, it's clean, has great bathrooms and a great view of the lake!" notes Rachel G.

Hiking nearby: North Fork County Park provides cabin options with trail access for day hikes. "There's a hidden waterfall you can hike too, and a river runs through the park. It's a must!" according to Debbie P. Most trails are under 5 miles round-trip and suitable for moderate hikers.

Winter recreation: Anderson Cove (uinta-wasatch-cache National Forest, Ut) cabins stay open year-round with winter access to snowshoeing trails. "We rode bikes and paddle boarded. Gets extremely busy on weekends but nice and quiet on the weekdays," reports Kristen W. Winter visitors should check road conditions before arrival.

What campers like

Private settings: Smaller cabin rentals at North Fork County Park offer more seclusion than standard campgrounds. "There are so many spots, and they are all very private. The Camp hosts are great!" according to one camper. Most private cabins require booking 3-6 months in advance.

Cabin amenities: Bear Lake/Trail Side KOA Journey provides cabins with modern conveniences. "Cabins are new with TV (local channels only), microwave and refrigerator," notes Megan E. Cabin sizes range from single-room to multi-room options.

Proximity to water: Cabins at Hyrum State Park provide easy lake access. "This state park is basically in the middle of a neighborhood of a small community. Locals seem to love it but it's not crowded at all. It's right on a small lake with a boat ramp and a small beach," shares Brenda L.

What you should know

Reservation timing: Most cabin rentals near Hyrum fill quickly during peak season (May-September). "We booked this campsite later into the season so we were lucky to get a spot," explains Sandra W. at Hyrum State Park Campground.

Gate restrictions: Hyrum State Park enforces strict gate hours. "The only thing that was annoying is that they lock the front gate at 10PM so if you are out after that time, you have to park your car on the street and walk to your campsite," notes a visitor.

Seasonal conditions: Bridger Bay Campground — Antelope Island State Park offers cabin options with changing seasonal challenges. "The positives: a beautiful remote spot with huge spaces between campsites... One other detractor is the mosquitoes here. We were out at dusk locking our bikes and were swarmed by them!!" reports Kim G.

Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly activities: Century RV Park cabins provide access to family facilities. "Clean restrooms and showers good wifi with a pleasant little store and the big dog park was a welcome surprise," says Jeremy P. The park includes play areas within sight of most cabins.

Quiet locations: For families wanting peace, Brigham City-Perry South KOA cabins offer quieter settings. "We usually camp in very back by the farm so very quiet. Heard coyotes and lots of owl pellets around camp," shares Meredith S.

Proximity to essentials: Cabin rentals at Bear Lake Trail Side KOA provide easy access to stores. "Right close to the shops and ice cream shakes. You can ask for passes for the larger KOA down the street. This gets you into the pool and everything the big KOA has," advises David T.

Tips from RVers

Hybrid camping: Some travelers combine RV and cabin stays at Cottonwood Campground — Willard Bay State Park when weather changes. "The sites are spacious, the grounds were clean and there were some great amenities. There's a nature trail through the grounds, a nice playground, and a 5 min walk to the beach," notes Rara B.

Parking considerations: RV travelers using cabins at Brigham City-Perry South KOA should note space limitations. "They pack them in tight here! Each pitch is no wider than 15', which actually makes it pretty challenging to back in," according to Jen R.

Alternative sites: When main campgrounds fill, Century RV Park offers cabin options as backups. "Great desk staff. Good prices. Great option if you just need an overnight. They will leave a very informative packet for you if you arrive after hours," says David B.
