Willow Flat is a popular campground, located on the banks of the Cub River, in southeastern Idaho. It sits in a pretty valley, surrounded by scenic mountain views, at an elevation of 6,300 feet. Visitors enjoy fishing the river and exploring numerous forested trails.
The Cub River provides great fishing for wild cutthroat and hatchery rainbow trout. Numerous trails begin within the campground, including a 1/2-mile nature trail to Sam Parkinson Spring. The multi-use Cub River Trail also begins at the campground, offering great hiking, mountain and dirt biking, as well as off-road vehicle and horseback riding. The trail accesses the Highline Trail, the North Fork of St. Charles Creek and the Cub River Guard Station.

Logan Canyon Scenic Byway, from Logan to Garden City, this byway parallels the Logan River through Logan Canyon, passing through dense forests, lush meadows, rugged rock formations and panoramic views. Each season brings a colorful show, especially in autumn.
Reservation Cancellations & Changes Cancelling a Reservation: Customers may cancel their reservation prior to arrival both on-line and through the call center. A $10 service fee will be withheld from any refund for a cancellation. Depending on when you cancel in relation to your arrival day, it may be considered a late cancellation (see below). Changing an Existing Reservation: When changes are made prior to the cut-off window: If a customer wants to switch dates that are entirely outside of the original reservation dates, there is a $10 change fee. There is no change fee if a customer extends or shortens a reservation, as long as the change includes dates from the original reservation. If they choose to depart early, they may forfeit the recreation fee for the day of departure. There is no change fee if the customer wants to switch sites that are the same price with the same reservation dates in the same facility. If a reservation is made that includes dates beyond the maximum booking window, that reservation cannot be changed until 18 days have passed from the original booking date. Bunchgrass yurt is a 16-foot diameter yurt that provides shelter and comfort for non-motorized winter pursuits for up to six people. Sleeping is provided on bunks, equipped with six nice, thick Paco Pads. The yurt is equipped with a wood stove for heat and melting snow for water, a snowmelt pot (only to be used for drinking water), a two burner propane stove for cooking, LED lanterns, and all the utensils, silverware, cookware and crockery needed for your meals. There are drip cones and paper filters for coffee making and to filter snowmelt if so desired. There is ample TP. Paper towels are stocked, but some groups run through rolls in days and may or may not be there. Ample cloth towels are stocked.
Private privies are set off from the yurts for nature's call. These pit toilets can be taxed towards the end of the season, so there is a strict policy to not put toilet paper in the privy. Instead, used TP must be placed in paper bags after use (paper bags are provided). At the end of your stay, or as needed, burn the bag in the wood stove (with a small fire, of course). Future guests will appreciate your compliance. And there is ample hand sanitizer.
Utah State University manages a Mongolian-style yurt in the Bear River Range east of Utah State. The yurt is located up Blind Hollow, a short drive from campus up Logan Canyon. The yurt is paid for and maintained with USU student fees which means students get priority access on weekends. Campsite 148 We liked staying here because it's close to home and it is also close to gas stations and grocery stores. Our campsite had standing water right behind it so there were many, many mosquitoes! The traffic from the freeway was very loud and in the morning the trains would honk their horns waking everyone up. We will probably not stay again and just do day trips to the lake.
Lots of families camping here. Close to town and lots of day use area. Campsites pretty close together but lots of grass and trees. Clean bathrooms and pretty neighborhood for walking
Yes, there were mosquitoes, cows, and a bit of green water, but it was very peaceful and beautiful. Whenever the options are a crowded and powered RV campsite versus a peaceful boondock such as this, we opt for the latter. Hope you enjoy it.
Got in around 945, nobody at the gate. Was and to have a choice of several spots for my campervan. Nothing with a killer view of the water, but I did have a nice view in the morning of the mountains. It was fine.

Follow the signs to the "new entrance" -- but it's well marked and well staffed. The campgrounds are well marked, but we found that our site was actually accessible going the opposite direction from the signage. So we went around the loop but this would have put the utilities on the passenger side, not the driver side. So we went back through the loop the opposite way (be careful of opposing traffic and there's limited space to maneuver, but this is the only way to properly access certain sites).
The picnic table had a gazebo over it, but it was occupied by wasps. We weren't planning to use it anyway as this was only a stopover for us, but this is something to be aware of. 50amp service worked great which was important for both air conditioners to work on this 102 degree day!
Overall the camp ground was super quiet. Keep in mind that there are no in/out privileges after 10pm. If you leave, you may not be able to get back in and this is documented on the checkin documentation. There is plenty of good grocery shopping for supplies located to the north and south (I went north). Beautiful campground but the sun and heat are a little relentless so be prepared with good AC, shade/awnings and other cooling methods.
We did not have reservations and with two long back to back travel days heading home, we needed an easy place to land close to the interstate. $60 for one night electric and water which we did not need for our teardrop, but all sites were the same price which included park fees.
Very nice staff and host found us a spot with which even had a limited view of the lake. Site was brand new with pull through that would easily accommodate a larger rig. Had a nice pavilion type cover over the picnic table, fire ring, and restrooms and showers were new in the section we were staying in.
As sun went down the mosquitos started to swarm and chased us inside. Haven't experienced that level of bugginess outside of several of the swamps we camped at in the southeast. Middle of the night a skunk visited our campsite and hung around for quite a while. Traffic noise from I-15 was excessive.
Don't let the pictures fool you. Views were ok in most directions but what I did not show was the large commercial storage yard used by the park service which was directly next door to our campsite. Fee's should have been much lower given the location but we did not have reservations and were fortunate to get a site.
If camping in a traditional RV this is an ok option, and it is cheaper than some of the commercial campgrounds nearby. Would stay here again if we needed an easy overnight stopover as the location is terrific.
This is one of my favorite places on earth. They have tent sites, van sites and a selection of shelters to choose from. Camping gets you access to the hot springs from check in until 4pm the next day. There’s running water in the bathhouse with a toilet and shower. There’s yoga classes included in the price as well. The bathhouse also has a nice little shop with snacks and gifts. They sell tinfoil dinners too if you want to really relax. Highly recommend! They offer volunteer days as well where you can camp and soak in exchange for volunteer work.
Everyone here was so nice and the staff was absolutely fantastic and so accommodating. Good spacing between tent sites, and they were spacious. It’s set up in a loop with all the amenities right in the middle so no matter where your spot is you’re just a tiny stroll away. Heated pool when it’s in season, and they seem to host a lot of fun events! I missed the ice cream social sadly. They also have air hockey and a ping pong table in the office building. This was my favourite KOA so far!
Note: Bring bug spray! I got bit a fair amount by mosquitoes.
Just arrived at the camp site, not to big, the sites have shadow from trees (not all). Restrooms are not really clean, water of the pool seems to be a bit dirty. Next to paid activities there are some stuff kids can do for free.
Just a one night stay on our way headed north but wish we could have stayed longer… lots of sites that really have a lot of privacy and back right up to the forest. Also trails right if the campsite. Super well maintained and bathrooms were clean. Also huckleberry picking right from camp! Gorgeous area, will definitely go back again.
We love finding campgrounds with unique elements. Hot springs and water slides fit the bill. Tight spots, no sewer were the only downsides. Great groups there during our stay, easy to get around. Nice amenities. Beautiful sunrise and nice staff. It’s a no frills with frills kind of place.
This campground is beautiful and the sites are huge! The bathrooms were pretty clean. Cell service was decent.
Very tight to maneuver car or suv, host was meh and rude. Stayed the weekend of July 4th 2021. It was a nice stay, bear lake was about a 10-15 mile drive.
Got in late around 2100. Plenty of spots available in the back without electric. I did get a spot right next to the lake. Has picnic table, firepit, and charcoal grill available. I camped out of the back of my truck. There is a road that runs on the north side of the ground that can be loud from passing traffic, otherwise quiet. Handicap accessible bathrooms and showers, plenty of hot water!
Very nice hosts. Pull ins a bit tight but there are some pull throughs. I’m here in late June and perfect weather. Quite peaceful as not a lot of campers yet.
We love to camp here with our kids and tube through the campground. This has clean outhouses and clean sites. Kids love to play in the cave.
We love how close this campground is, located between Pineview and Causey Reservoir. Not all sites are fully shaded. Site 19 is next to the outhouse and if the wind shifts it’s not awesome.
We’ve stayed here three times and each about the same. Full hook ups were nice. Clean bathrooms with free showers were a plus. The only downside was road noise from the nearby freeway and lots of bugs, probably due to the lake. But for a travel through stopover it was fine.

Two loops that we saw, the first has no hook ups and the second has power and water at each site. There’s a little paved slab with a picnic table and covering, each site has a fire pit and charcoal grill. $30 for no hook ups $40 for hookups, got in around 8pm and no $30 sites left. There are toilets and showers for each loop. Really close to the highway so be prepared for that noise, and there’s a train that goes by every so often.
We come here every year to meet family. Friendly staff, clean areas, reasonable rates. Busy time is between Memorial Day and Labor day. We always visit after Labor Day. No sewer, electricity and water at most sites
Great spot! We stopped here for a night during our travels & we loved it! The staff is extremely nice & helpful. The grounds are well cared for, the showers are free & hot, the bathroom is clean, & there’s laundry available. As other reviews have mentioned, the spaces are very close together & there is some traffic noise from the nearby interstate (this didn’t effect our sleep or experience, but it’s worth mentioning). We would definitely stay here again.
I arrived at around 6:30 PM with no reservation and had no issues. The guy at the front gate was a peach, super kind and helpful. It’s $25 a night for a tent site. He set me up in site 106 which is about 50 feet away from the (very clean) bathrooms/showers and 100 feet from the lake. The crickets SCREAM at night and there’s some noise from the interstate. There’s also a gas station right outside the park entrance. Plenty of other people camping here but everyone is quiet and respectful. I have 4 bars of 5G with ATT. They also spray for mosquitoes so bugs aren’t really an issue.
Headed north, this is a good stop north of SLC. Pull thru sides are plenty long, just close together. Pool is heated, laundry is $4/load. Staff is very nice. Lots of shade available.
Don't waste ur time if your a tent camper. There's a pool with a hundred ppl in it, no where bear river. I just kept driving , didn't feel super safe
