Waterfront camping receives positive reviews, with Lake Arrowhead State Park and Waurika Lake offering popular lakeside sites. Noise levels vary significantly between campgrounds—those near highways like Wichita Bend RV Park experience road noise, while state park campgrounds tend to offer more peaceful settings. Most developed campgrounds provide basic amenities including picnic tables, fire rings, and access to restrooms, though primitive camping options with fewer facilities are also available in the region.

    Lake Arrowhead State Park Campground

    Nice quiet park

Water Electric , dump station close by, all rv sites seem to have a picnic table with an awning. Lake is close by, but we could feel a breeze most nights. Slept with windows open, to the sound of a pump jack running, read up about it, very interesting. Bathroom is dated but clean and functional, it's a state park, that is all I want. Nearby is Wichita Falls, we walked to the Falls, decent sized western city with choices for food and shopping. We would stop again.

    Wichita Bend RV Park

Great little place right off the highway

There is water and 30a electric at every site I believe some sites have 50 amps as well. There is a 72-hour limit. It's right next to the highway so there is road noise. Sites are level water pressure is good and electric is pretty stable. The park is very clean.

    Hapgood RV Park

    Very nice no frills

We pulled in at 10:30 pm but very easy to park in pull through spot. Clean, flat, gravel spots with electric and water. Put $15 in an envelope as required. Will definitely stay here again when we head this way.

    Rocking A RV Park

Great service and friendly people and clean.

First stop on this tour from Dallas TX to New Mexico and back

I had choosen this place out of location ,it has a walmart in walking distance.

We got delayed from start of pickup our RV and got here a lot later then we had intended, so I wrote the owner a message and she answered rapid how to find it and where to find our paperwork.

We found the spot and got settled and went into bathrooms that was the most clean bathroom I have ever seen in a campground.

Slept a good night sleep and had some things we needed to fix on the RV rental and here the owner is very happy and good to help out and had the parts we needed.

And then we was off again

Guide to Iowa Park

Camping sites near Iowa Park, Texas blend functional amenities with distinct prairie landscapes. The region sits at elevations between 950-1,100 feet above sea level and experiences wide temperature variations with winter lows frequently dropping below freezing. Most campgrounds offer level sites on crushed gravel or concrete pads, with prairie dog colonies providing unique wildlife viewing opportunities at several locations.

What to do

Wildlife observation opportunities: Lake Arrowhead State Park Campground features prairie dog colonies that visitors can watch for hours. "The prairie dog colonies at the eastern half of the campground are awesome creatures to watch for hours," notes one camper. Other wildlife includes western diamondback rattlesnakes, owls, rabbits, coyotes, and deer.

Water activities on local lakes: Wichita Falls RV Park provides access to the Wichita River and has its own pond. "The park is on the Wichita River, has lots of ducks and geese that like the pond there and there are lots of kitschy things around the park," shares a visitor who stayed for five nights in August.

Disc golf courses: Several parks maintain flat, mowed trails that double as disc golf courses. "Check out the Disc Golf course which runs alongside both the Onion Creek Trail and Dragonfly Trails," suggests an outdoor enthusiast. The courses are typically flat and suitable for beginners.

What campers like

Clean, level concrete pads: Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort Wichita Falls offers well-maintained sites. "The sites are concrete pads (a little off level) with full hookups and nice grass," reports a family who stayed for three nights. Most sites include picnic tables and grassy areas between sites.

Covered picnic areas: Many sites feature covered shelters that provide shade during hot Texas afternoons. "The sites at Lake Arrowhead State Park have fire rings and a covered picnic table," notes a visitor. These shelters become essential during summer when temperatures regularly climb above 95°F.

Budget-friendly options: Hapgood RV Park in nearby Henrietta offers affordable overnight stays. "At the time I stayed full hook ups where $15. Easy check in, just write your info down and put 15 dollars in an envelope. Very quiet and clean park," says one reviewer who appreciated the value.

What you should know

Seasonal temperature considerations: Summer camping requires preparation for heat. "The sites with shade are highly desirable during summer months," points out a frequent visitor. Spring and fall offer more moderate temperatures between 65-85°F.

Maintenance variations between parks: Burkburnett-Wichita Falls KOA shows inconsistent upkeep according to some visitors. "Overall, this campground was a nice overnight spot on our route to Dallas. There were nice paved pull through sites and a good gravel pad surrounded by grass. There were large trees, which seem rare in this part of Texas, but they were mainly on the perimeter back in sites," shares one camper.

Highway noise considerations: Some campgrounds experience road noise. "Due to it being right off I44, there is road noise," mentions a visitor to Wichita Bend RV Park. Sites further from highways generally offer quieter environments.

Tips for camping with families

Multiple swimming options: Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort features extensive water amenities. "This place has literally EVERYTHING you can possibly think of. 3 pools, an AMAZING splash pad for the kids and plenty of family activities for all ages," reports a satisfied family. Activities run throughout the day and typically end with evening marshmallow roasts.

Animal encounters: Several parks offer opportunities to interact with animals. "From animals to a water course on the lake, this place has literally EVERYTHING you can possibly think of," notes a family with children who especially enjoyed the geese near the pond.

Recreational variety: Family-oriented parks provide multiple activity options. "Lots of family activities—swimming, fishing, maze, mini golf, hayrides, archery, paintball, laser tag, crafts, animal visits, bubble pool, golf cart rentals, great cabins, level concrete rv sites 20/30/50 amp, cafe, store, gem mining, basketball, cedar playground," lists an enthusiastic visitor.

Tips from RVers

Extended stay considerations: Wichita Falls RV Park accommodates longer visits. "The fulltime and long-term folks are over in a different section," notes a motorhome owner who appreciated the separation between overnight and extended-stay campers. Most parks enforce 14-day limits unless designated for longer residency.

Leveling requirements: Prepare for varied leveling conditions. "The sites at this location had shade covers over the picnic tables and were split between back-in spaces and pull-through sites," reports an RVer who visited the area. Many parks feature pull-through sites that accommodate larger vehicles up to 40 feet.

Hookup reliability: Full hookup sites typically provide stable electrical service. "They have FHU, great cable and very decent WiFi. Verizon cell service was 4G 4 bars," notes a satisfied RVer who stayed in a 35-foot motorhome with tow vehicle at Wichita Falls RV Park.
