    Spacious Skies Peach Haven

    Nice campground, lots of amenities.

Overall, this is a very nice, clean park conveniently located to the interstate I-85) and attractions in the area. It has all the amenities you would expect to find at a KOA such as a swimming pool, playground, dog park, miniature golf, store, clubhouse, and more (including goats). It is by far the nicest private campground in the area that we have stayed at.

This KOA has 127 sites offering varying degrees of services to accommodate RV's, tents, and those wanting to rent cabins. We chose a 50-amp full hook-up back-in site but were upgraded to a pull-thru so we could be in a sunny location to mitigate the chilly air. How nice of them! Our site (#79) was perfectly level as were most others (but not all). Water, electric, and cable hook-ups were well placed at the site and worked fine. We paid $37/night(with the KOA member discount). Nice, large grassy area for dogs to walk and sniff and there is a decent size dog park.  Roads and pads are hard packed gravel with grass in between sites. Some sites are set in a wooded area while some are out in the open with plenty of sun and satellite coverage. The park is big rig friendly and the roads are easily navigable. All sites have a picnic table and some had fire pits but ours did not. Cable is included and offered over 50 channels. Wifi worked well at our site.  The laundry was small with three washers and three dryers but very clean and had a decent book exchange. The bathroom and showers were super clean and looked like they were updated recently.

The campground is extremely clean and the owners/employees are super friendly. There is a short hiking trail (less than a mile) through the woods and plenty of green space in front of some of the pull-thrus. playground large swimming pool with large deck putt putt with lots of goat humor.

The only downside would be the closeness of sites but that is pretty much what you expect from private RV parks. Fortunately, we did not have neighbors right next to us which gave us more space. I'm usually not a KOA fan but have to say this one was great for our overnight stay and we would recommend it.

    Croft State Park Campground

Shakedown trip with new first camper

Great state park. Easy back in some pull through. Spacious clean sites. Many historic hiking trails easy to mod. Horse trails with stables. Bike trails. Lake Craig is nice fishing with rentable Jon boats, kayaks and SUP. No gas motors or swimming. No pool and dump station only. Playground and clean bathhouses.

    Cunningham RV Park

    Would not stay again

This campground is very close to I-26 and I-81 which makes for an easy in and out for an overnight stay. We stopped for one night after a long day of driving and wanted a full hook-up pull-thru which was long enough for our 45’ RV and tow car. The roads inside the park were easy to navigate and pull into our site and nearby are fuel stations and fast food restaurants.

Most of the campers in the park were permanent residents and their campsites were pretty junky. Just to create an image in your head, our neighbors had lots of kid’s toys, trash bags, appliances, and laundry scattered about their site while others had old cars, dilapidated sheds, car tires, and tarps stretched across their campers. Other than a swimming pool and decent playground, there really aren’t too many amenities or reasons that you might want to stay here, other than for an overnight. The bathroom and showers were clean and there is a nice laundry. Roads in the campground and at sites are gravel with grass/gravel patios and picnic table. Not all sites have fire pits. Our site (#102) did not have a fire pit but there was an indentation under the leaves where it looked like there was a fire pit and there were a bunch of rocks piled up against a tree that could be used to create one without anyone objecting. All sites are full hook-up, some being 30-amp and others 50. Most sites are pull-thrus and level. Our over-the-antenna picked up about 40 television channels, including all the major stations. Our Verizon phone picked up a 5G signal.

There were signs everywhere about not letting your dog off-leash so I’m assuming there was a problem in the past. While we were there, we never encountered any unruly dogs or any off-leash. There are lots of large trees for shade which are not a problem for pulling into or out of a site but may be a problem if you are trying to get satellite television. The sewer outlet at our site was placed in the back of our site and I needed a hose about 35’ long to reach it.  Some of the back-in sites are pretty close but it appeared they were for seasonal/permanent campers.

The electrical hookup was a little sketchy. It appears they updated an old electrical box with a new 50-amp outlet and taped the other one shut so you could not open it. There was no breaker on the new outlet you could access. Despite the way it looked, we never had a problem with the electric.  Our sewer was a different issue.  The sewer drain needed to be cleaned out because when I opened the grey valve it did not drain properly and began to overflow.  I had to shut the valve, wait for the water to go down, and reduce the flow which took about fifteen minutes to drian 25 gallons of grey water.

At $45 for a full hook-up site, we would not stay here again.

    Fireside RV Park

    Clean, quiet and quaint

Stayed here for 5 days visiting family in the area and it was nice. There is no office or showers or anything like that. Spots are fairly close but the people all seemed friendly.

There seemed to be quite a few long term campers but the place was clean.

The grass is very nice instead of dirt or gravel pad next to you.

No picnic tables and the WiFi was just useable. I had 2-3 bars of AT&T LTE Wireless signal.

    Woodsmoke Family Campground

    Overnight Stop

Ok for overnight stop but wouldn't be a travel destination. Most sites seem to be long term or permanent sites. Very close to neighbor site, with fire pit being extremely close. Water, Sewer, Power, WiFi

    Hamilton Branch State Park Campground

Great spacious site on the water, lots of privacy

We arrived at last light, and I am glad that we had daylight while we backed in. Lovely site, spacious. Sites 98 & 99  T off the connector road. Layout it such that your RV is parallel to the road, overlooking the water which is 80- 100 feet away. Your neighbors are a fair distance away, but your head and tail of the RV points to them- so once inside you're not even aware of them. We are 30 foot fifth wheel with F250, and i imagine the back-in would have been more challenging if 99 was occupied.  Nice family oriented park. Water and electric all good, dump station on way out.

Did not use facilities, but apparently showers and toilets are a little drive away.

Wood: We drove out of the park, turned left and found an honor-system wood kiosk on parallel road - just over the railroad tracks. $5 for a small bundle, but it was worth it to us.

    Leveling was not an issue.

Hosts keep site nice and clean,

Data: Visible worked great (25 mbs up & down, so no need to break out hotspots, Starlink etc

    Chester State Park Campground

    Campsites and views, oh my!

First time staying at Chester State Park. Checked in at the Ranger’s station with friendly staff and a small store front with ice available. Picked pull through site 16. All 25 of the sites are on mostly level ground. The lake from the campground has a fairly new access via a ADA compliant walkway with lighting leading to swings, benches and Adirondack chairs surrounding a rock fire pit. There are benches facing the lake for sitting and or fishing and a new deck that provide even better views of the lake. The trails are well marked and wide that run along the lake edge. There is fishing, kayaks and canoes at the boat dock for rent and to our children’s disappointment no swimming in the lake. The other side of the park has the boat dock, playgrounds for the kiddos and plenty of grassy areas and picnic tables for sitting by the lake. Also there is a professional disc golf course on site. Last but not least the bathhouse is up to date, clean and well stocked.

    Broad River Campgound

    Quiet

Stayed only overnight at this park. Very quiet park, bathrooms were closed to overnight guests so didn't get to see them. Full hook ups(including sewer) which were easy to access. Spots were SUPER close together and no picnic tables, but great spot to stay for a night. We camped at Broad River Campground in a Travel Trailer.  Campground is pretty far from restaurants, grocery stores, etc so plan accordingly.

    Lake Greenwood State Park Campground

    Beautiful location and beautiful lake

If it weren’t for Hurricane Dorian we would have never found this gem! What a beautiful location. Most sites directly on the lake. We were 10 ft from our own swimming area. The water is clean to fish, swim, boat, kayak, jet ski. You can easily rent a pontoon and jet skis at the nearby Skippers and cruise to a great bar and grill, “break on the lake” for dinner and drinks.  The lake is big enough to explore but small enough not to get lost. The reception is helpful and bathhouses very clean.  You are 20 minutes from the cute town of Greenwood too.  Full hookups available at this state park. Picnic tables and fire rings provided too. Don’t carry your own firewood in due to possible invasive insects.

Guide to Kinards

Several RV campgrounds within 30 miles of Kinards, South Carolina offer distinct accommodations for travelers. The region surrounding Kinards spans rolling piedmont terrain with elevations between 400-700 feet above sea level. Most campgrounds in this area remain accessible year-round due to the mild climate, with average summer temperatures reaching 90°F and winter lows rarely dropping below 30°F.

What to do

Paddle to Lake Greenwood: From Big Creek RV Park, campers can access paddling opportunities directly to the main lake. "You can paddle out to the main lake from this location. Quiet setting," notes Ashley F., highlighting the convenient water access.

Visit historic downtown Greer: When staying at GSP RV Park, travelers can explore nearby attractions. "The park is centrally located near downtown Greer (very cute with lots of shops and restaurants) and a short drive from Greenville and Travelers Rest," according to Matthew B.

Swimming in designated areas: While some RV sites near Kinards, South Carolina restrict water activities, others provide lake access. At Plum Branch RV Park, visitors appreciate the proximity to water recreation. "This campground is very quiet and right near the water. I enjoyed it and would stay again," shares reviewer robins662.

What campers like

Well-maintained facilities: Fireside RV Park receives praise for its upkeep. "The campsite is very well maintained. You often see the owner themselves doing a lot of the maintenance. Plus they check on people, see if everything is going good," mentions liz.

Convenient pull-through sites: Many RV parks in the Kinards area feature accessible sites for easy setup. Becky P. notes about Springwood RV Park: "Our pull-thru site was right next to the office and was very level. Our site had a picnic table. We had no issues with the water/electric/sewer."

Proximity to restaurants: Some campgrounds offer nearby dining options. Kevin H. mentions that Plum Branch RV Park "has a restaurant a few hundred yards down the road," providing convenient meal options without leaving the area.

What you should know

Cellular service variations: Coverage can differ significantly between campgrounds. At Fireside RV Park, one camper reports: "The WiFi was just useable. I had 2-3 bars of AT&T LTE Wireless signal." Other parks may require hotspot alternatives, as Kevin H. notes about Plum Branch: "T-mobile mifi: no 4g nor 5G service."

Noise considerations: Some campgrounds experience environmental noise. At Springwood RV Park, Joe P. describes: "Fell asleep to the soothing sounds of a locomotive horn punctuated by the plinks of acorns bouncing off the roof. Awakened at 5:30 AM by sirens tuned to major thirds followed a little later by the thumping sounds of helicopter blades."

Sewer hookup positioning: RV sites may have unusual utility placements. Kevin H. mentions at Plum Branch RV Park: "Sewer pipes stick out a good 6 or 8 inches. Electric posts are new but have a meter right below plugs, so surge suppressor gets to hang sideways."

Tips for camping with families

Playground amenities: Cunningham RV Park offers "a swimming pool and decent playground" according to Nancy W., making it suitable for families with children despite other limitations of the facility.

Dog policies: Most RV sites near Kinards enforce leash requirements. Nancy W. observes at Cunningham RV Park: "There were signs everywhere about not letting your dog off-leash so I'm assuming there was a problem in the past. While we were there, we never encountered any unruly dogs or any off-leash."

Late checkout flexibility: When traveling with families, flexible departure times can help. Matthew B. appreciates that at GSP RV Park, "we had a change of plans the morning of checkout, and they let us check out a little late since the park wasn't fully booked, which was so helpful and kind of them."

Tips from RVers

Hookup accessibility: At Cunningham RV Park, Nancy W. warns: "The sewer outlet at our site was placed in the back of our site and I needed a hose about 35' long to reach it." This information helps RVers prepare appropriate equipment.

Satellite reception challenges: Tree coverage affects technology connections. Nancy W. notes: "There are lots of large trees for shade which are not a problem for pulling into or out of a site but may be a problem if you are trying to get satellite television."

Limited amenities at some parks: Some RV parks provide only basic services. Liz reports about Fireside RV Park: "The campsite only has laundry service, no additional bathrooms or showers. The Wi-Fi is ok, but it drops out a lot."
