    SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Darlington, South Carolina has several state parks within driving distance that work well for weekend camping trips. Poinsett State Park Campground has good hiking trails that take you through mixed pine and hardwood forests. Campers who like fishing and boating should check out Lake Wateree State Park Campground, where you can spend the day on the water. At Sesquicentennial State Park Campground, you can rent paddleboats to get out on the small lake. Most sites in these parks have decent tree cover, which helps when camping in the summer heat. Some campsites give you more space from neighbors than others. You'll want to reserve your spot ahead of time, especially in spring and fall when the weather is best. The online reservation systems for South Carolina state parks are straightforward to use. If you can camp during the week, you'll find the parks much less crowded than on weekends. Bring what you need since stores might be a good drive away from some of these parks. The campgrounds around Darlington work well for both families and solo campers looking for some time outdoors.

      LumberJack RV Park

      Top Notch RV Park

You cannot go wrong staying here! Great prices and excellent service!! We arrived right before dark, my husband turned off the truck and when he went to start it again, it would not start. The starter had went out in his truck, and we were still hooked to the camper, partially blocking the road in the RV park. The owners did not have a problem with our truck staying in the road through the night, and they were so helpful, and even took my husband to the auto parts store at 7:30 the next morning to get a new starter. Along with the owners, others staying in this campground was super friendly, and offering their help. This is our second stay in this RV park, and definitely won't be our last!

      Pitts Landing Dispersed

      Good Overnight Stop

Gravel road with a few flat sites that are level. Very Quiet except for some distant road noise. There is litter scattered about. Overall a good overnight stop.

      Lynches River County Park

      Clean quiet and spacious

I was impressed by the cleanliness and the amenities available at this campground. There’s a dog park, splash pad and climbing wall(hours depend on the time of year) There are also walking trails and a way to access the water.

Lots of room at the site so even if it was busy, still wouldn’t be too close to neighbors!

Pedro's Campground at South of the Border

      Great Stop!

This well known roadside attraction, South of the Border, has a hidden gem of a campground! They have a lot of sites, from back-ins to pull-throughs, full hook-ups, nightly rates from about $49 including tax (with discounts, and they offer a few). Nice sites with picnic tables and grills, we saw three bathhouses (clean!), and a coin-operated laundry. Entire campground is gated with security, and there are restaurants, shops, and gas stations. Quiet, fun, just off I-95 at the SC/NC border.

      Pitts Landing Dispersed

      Easy in, easy out

The drive in was smooth, dirt road but smooth if your driving at night.

Big open space where the boat ramp is, spots that are tucked away in the trees are sandy terrain and heard you can get stuck.

Be vigilant, heard there may be a woman searching for food. Otherwise everyone coming there early are fisherman.

A little noise from the road but it is a beautiful spot.

Standing Pines RV Resort & Campground

Peaceful, clean, and super friendly new RV park (Free WiFi)

We stayed at Standing Pines RV Park in Hartsville, South Carolina and were really impressed. This is a newer park, but you can tell the owners put a lot of care into the property. The grounds are clean, quiet, and surrounded by tall trees, which creates a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere while still being close to town. The sites are level, spacious, and easy to back into. Full hookups worked perfectly. Cell service was strong enough for remote work and streaming. The park roads are wide and well maintained, which makes everything simple when arriving or setting up. The overall vibe is calm, safe, and welcoming. The owners are helpful and available without being intrusive. It already feels like a comfortable home base and it is clear the park is being built the right way. If you are passing through Hartsville, working in the area, or looking for a quiet place to stay for a while, Standing Pines RV Park is a great choice. Very clean, very relaxing, and we will definitely return.

Cheraw State Park Campground — Cheraw State Park

Very nice, calm spot and active hosts

For us this was a pleasant little stopover after a long drive. Nicely located next to a lake, there is also a nice little walk partially around the lake. It is a small campground with nice spots. The hosts where active and there if you wanted advice. At the campground you can't swim, but you can walk 10 minutes to a beachy area on the other site of the lake.

Cheraw State Park Campground — Cheraw State Park

      VERY Nice campground!!

The camping spots were clean and well kept....some have water and electric hookups and some are more rustic. There are plenty of large spaces for RVs with lots of room around them for privacy. It felt very private even though there were people all around. The bathrooms and showers were amazingly clean and they had a giant heater you can turn on over the showers when it's cold outside! There is a lake with a swimming area that was also well-maintained and clean, it has a boardwalk that goes around a large portion of the lake that connects the campground with the beach are. You can rent kayaks and canoes to take out on the lake, and the fishing is excellent! They also have rental cabins by the swimming area but I've never stayed in one. It is a nice campground, quiet and great for children! I will definitely go back!

Clean, modern bathrooms: Lynches River County Park maintains well-kept facilities despite being a small campground.
