      Jellystone Park™ Williamsport

      KID FRIENDLY

This is a huge campground geared around kids. We didn't bring any with us this time and were just staying here overnight. We are in pull through site 753, pretty level gravel site, full hookups, picnic table and fire ring. The site wasn't well cleaned, grease dumped in the gravel, dead grass, lots of stink bugs! Also had to finagle the cable line to get it to work. There are very clean showers and restrooms, large camp store, restaurant, mining for kids, Waterpark, and pool. Many cabins, pull through, back in, and tent sites.

      Gettysburg / Battlefield KOA

Awesome campground while exploring Gettysburg Battlefield!

We couldn't have been more pleased with this campground! The usual variety of sites, back-in and pull through, 50/30/20 amp service with full hookups.  Cable has the usual channels, about 20, available for $2.00 per night.  WIFI is free and we had good service, even though we were quite far from the office.  The site was level and needed no additional blocking, a fire pit and picnic table with ample outdoor sitting room.  A wooded setting gave plenty of shade and lent to the atmosphere of having more room than we actually did.  Located about 4 miles from town it is far enough for that country feel but close enough to be convenient.  The camp store was well stocked with basic needs as was the gift shop.  Trash is picked up daily, just leave it at the entrance to your site when you leave in the morning.  Cell service wasn't the best, Verizon had about 2 bars.  I can't say enough good things about the staff, from check-in and being escorted to our site with help backing in to filling up the propane on the way out everyone was courteous and helpful.  We felt secure at all times, and noticed a staff member frequently driving through on a golf cart.  A dog playground, kiddie playground, pool, putt putt, and other activities for the family.  All in all a very positive experience and a definite thumbs up for this campground!!

      Lazy A Campground

      Down home country

I loved this campground. It is not a large campground in number of sites but has huge open fields for lots of outdoor fun. It has tent sites and level rv sites with 30 amp and water. No sewer. And one 50 amp site. Most sites have partial shade from the tree line. Each site has a fire ring and plastic picnic table. It has a creek for swimming or wading at your own risk. It also has horseshoes, playground, large outdoor picnic area, as well as a clean bathhouse with showers. There is a dump station and trash dumpster for your convenience on the way out of the campground.

      Twin Bridge Campground

      Great Site, Great Staff

Took our new Fifth Wheel for a shakedown trip and decided to try Twin Bridges Campground. Staff was polite, amenities are great and clean, and everyone was friendly and polite. Big spacious sites, and a honeywagon to make things easier (there weren't any full hookup sites the I saw besides the long term spaces). Would definatley stay here again.

      Gettysburg / Battlefield KOA

      Camping Gem Near the Battlefields

We had a great stay at Gettysburg/ Battlefield KOA Holiday in Gettysburg, PA.

We stayed in a level pull-thru site(#14) with deluxe picnic table, swinging Adirondack glider, and fire pit. The site was big enough for our motor home and Jeep. Full hook-ups with 50-amp service.

Lots of mature shade trees made the site more comfortable given the July heat. The paver patio with seating and natural landscaping with well-placed boulders made it quite comfortable.

Wow, what a great place to stay when visiting the town of Gettysburg and nearby battlefields.

From the escort to our site and friendly interactions with the staff, we immediately felt at home. The site was covered with clean gravel(which I like to keep sand and dirt outside), the camp store was well-stocked, the pool was inviting, the utilities all worked great, daily trash collection was convenient, immaculate landscaping, and a 2:00 PM check-out make this place a gem when visiting the Gettysburg area.

Just 15-minutes to historic sites, restaurants, and breweries.

      Everything seemed clean and well-maintained.

Bottom Line: This is a great campground in a great location and we can’t wait to go back!

      THINGS I ESPECIALLY LIKED:

      1. Beautifully landscaped site

      2. Well maintained and clean campground

      3. Close to town of Gettysburg and battlefields

      Happy Hills Campground

      Lots of regulars

So this is my second time at Happy Hills Campground in Hancock, MD from June 25th-28th. It being relatively close to the home is the reason for choosing it because of doctor appts for the kids.

The site I was in (F1) was really small and very close to the neighboring site. We got lucky no one was camping next to us. It had full hook-ups (30amp/water/sewer) and a pull thru site with picnic table and fire ring. It was $40/night. This campground is mainly for monthly site rentals with more than 3/4 of them permanent sites.

Lots of golf cart and ATV traffic with no quiet hours that I am aware of. We weren't informed the pool would be open and you had to sign up for two hour timeslots to get in. This must have been information only available to the regulars here. Also cell service (Sprint roaming most of the time) is terrible and the campground wifi is spotty at best. The camp store was closed due to COVID so if needed anything you had to go to town.

Bathrooms were clean. Never checked out the showers but heard they were free.

      Overall, I wasn't a happy camper. I don't think I will be back.

      CUMBERLAND MD. CAMPGROUNDS. 1 & 2

On the Potomac and C & O Canal Trail

Canal Tunnel River Campground, Nov 2023 : This is a 1 3/4 mile walk along the C &O Canal Trail to the outskirts of Cumberland. We happened upon this empty campground while walking this trail. A fantastic museum is near that 1 3/4 mile point. The National Park Visitor Center is there as well which is very informative.
(70 yr olds in 17’ trailer). I rate based on desire for at least a moderate wilderness type experience w at least some camp site privacy. Usage during visit: Empty Site Privacy: No vegetation screen between sites. Site Spacing: Close, but more spacing than many private campgrounds. Site surface: Grass Reservations: I noticed Agee box at the entrance. Road Noise: This campground is not near a highway. Through Traffic in campground: No reason for through traffic.
Electric Hookup: I concluded the only sites with electricity are host sites. Sewer Hookup: No Dump Station: No Potable Water Available: Yes Bathroom: I did not see any, but probably removed for the season.
Showers: No. Pull Throughs: Some Cell Service (AT&T): Good Setting: Open grassy area with minimal shade along the Potomac River Weather: Sunny . Highs 60s and lows 30s during our stay in the area.
Bugs: Too cold. Solar: Great solar. Rig size: Seems that there would’ve no issue for larger rigs. Sites: Sites along the river are best in my opinion.

      Hosack Run

Great park, not so great camp site

We stayed at site #146 in Hosack Run. The campground itself is a small, pet friendly loop and has very nice bathrooms/showers that were very clean and appeared fairly brand new. There is a very small playground in the loop (just swings and seesaws) and Caledonia State Park itself has lots of nice hiking and history. It sits about 20 minutes outside of Gettysburg National Battlefield. The campsite itself (#146) was pretty abysmal. It is extremely small and looks like it was once the parking lot for the restrooms. You can still see the remnants of the painted yellow parking lines on the asphalt. Our small, 12 foot pop-up barely fit with just enough room for our tow vehicle. Also, your neighbor (site #144) sits right on top of you. Lastly, we stayed during a rainy Memorial Day weekend and learned that our former parking space of a campsite sits inside of a bowl in which all other campsites drains into creating a small lake around our firepit. The one plus side was that it is extremely close to the facilities. There are lots of other nice camp sites in this loop, but this was not one of them. I would choose this site again if I was extremely desperate to camp here and no other sites were available. 5 stars for the park, trails, and locale. 1 star for the campsite.

      Cowans Gap State Park Campground

Great state park in southern PA.

We stayed in camping area A during mid April this year. It was a nice state park. Hiking, fishing, a lake, long creek. Clean bathrooms, heated bathhouse. Our site was #80 and had electric on it, water was just across the road. It was level, with a picnic table and fire ring. The ground was some pretty aggressive gravel, but it kept the ground pretty dry, and it had rained a fair amount in the days before we arrived. Very spotty cell service with T-Mobile. Some spots were more level than others, and others, some looked tricky for larger trailers. Weather was all over the place (as to be expected in this area in mid April. Had all four seasons in 5 days. Would revisit for sure. Totally forgot pictures of the site, but it was pretty typical for a state campground.

    Guide to Wells Tannery

RV camping near Wells Tannery, Pennsylvania offers access to the Allegheny Mountains with elevations ranging from 1,200 to 1,800 feet. The region experiences distinct seasons with colorful fall foliage from late September through October. Winter camping options remain limited with only select campgrounds maintaining year-round operations.

    What to do

Fishing opportunities: Four Seasons at Raystown Lake / Saxton KOA provides access to Raystown Lake for fishing. "The campground is a short drive to Raystown Lake in Saxton, PA which is beautiful and very big. The campground is in the middle of nowhere but if you like the outdoors, I recommend it," notes Chuck M.

Mini golf: Several campgrounds offer on-site activities for families. "The lower pool is right beside the main office which also includes an arcade and a very nice miniature golf course," reports Christopher R. about his experience at Friendship Village Campground.

Basketball and recreation: Outdoor courts and play areas provide additional options. "The RV side has all the cool stuff; store, pavilion, basketball courts, playground, etc," mentions Sammii D. from Little Orleans Campground.

    What campers like

Clean facilities: Campers consistently mention well-maintained bathrooms and facilities. "Staff was wonderful and just a great campground. Bathrooms are Soo nice," shares Dawn C. from Raystown Lake/Saxton KOA.

Family activities: Weekend events and special programming appeal to families with children. "We stayed during Bigfoot weekend. It was super fun as our family likes bigfoot fun. We started out Friday night getting the offered $12 bbq plate that included pork burnt ends, beans and potato salad," explains Paul B. about their stay at Timber Run Campground.

Fishing ponds: On-site fishing provides convenient recreation without leaving the campground. "There are multiple ponds on the property however only one of them can be fished in. No license is required for fishing here," notes Christopher R. about Friendship Village Campground.

    What you should know

Site leveling challenges: Many campgrounds feature uneven terrain requiring preparation. "The site wasn't so level, but we made it work," reports Paul B. about Nature's Getaway RV Park.

Road noise concerns: Some campgrounds experience highway traffic noise. "The only thing we didn't like was all of the road noise. This campground is located by 2 major highways and truck traffic and Jake brake are constant all night long," mentions Aaron S.

Wi-Fi reliability: Internet connectivity varies significantly between properties. "Overall Wi-Fi worked well and everything you need is here," notes Brittany V., though this contrasts with experiences at other campgrounds in the region.

Seasonal considerations: While some campgrounds operate year-round, many have reduced services in winter. "After the weekend though, all the activity slows down. There are seasonal campers that stay around, and they're constantly working on improving and fixing up sites during the week," explains Paul B.

    Tips for camping with families

Playground options: Pioneer Lakes RV Park provides multiple play areas. "Lots to do for kiddos on weekend, stocked ponds, bathhouses very close to all sites," mentions Catelyn T.

Swimming access: Multiple pools offer water recreation during summer months. "There are also two pools at each end of the campground and they are very well-maintained and have lifeguard supervision," explains Christopher R.

Activity planning: Weekend events provide structured entertainment. "It is a monday so I imagine this place would be much busier on the weekend but it's nice and quiet," notes Jennifer K. about Little Orleans Campground.

Site selection for families: Consider proximity to amenities when booking. "In my opinion, the best sites to stay at if you have kids are sites 145–171 as those are right beside the jumping pillow, playground and gaga ball pit," recommends Christopher R.

    Tips from RVers

Site spacing: RV sites vary considerably in size and privacy. "Sites are very spacious and the gravel pad was level upon parking. Good connections and solid cable," shares Brittany V.

Pull-through availability: Some campgrounds offer easier access sites. "We got the pull through at the end of one loop so we could face the woods," notes Paul B.

Hookup variations: Electric service ranges from basic to comprehensive. "There's a pool, basketball hoops, and a fully stocked camp store with campground merch, blankets, snacks, toiletries, a lot of rv parts, refrigerated food necessities, pantry items, alcohol, cigarettes, games, fishing gear....really a lot of stuff!" reports Jennifer K.

Seasonal site options: Long-term stays are available at many campgrounds. "The RV side has a ton of seasonal residences. The most half RV/half homes I've ever scene! It's wild," observes Sammii D.
