Best RV Parks & Resorts near Sutersville, PA

Madison-Pittsburgh S.E. KOA and Washington-Pittsburgh SW KOA provide full-hookup RV sites with 50-amp electric service near Sutersville. Most parks offer pull-through options accommodating larger motorhomes, while Pioneer Lakes RV Park features sites with 30-amp service and water hookups. Fox Den Acres Campground has big-rig friendly sites with gravel pads, complete with electric, water, and sewer connections. The Blue Canoe RV Resort provides seasonal camping from May through October with full hookups. "Sites are very large. Water pressure was good. Dump station on grounds and easy access," noted one camper about regional facilities.

Several RV parks in the area require navigation through narrow country roads with potential weight restrictions. Mountain Top Campground offers spectacular valley views with 30 and 50-amp service, though sites lack full sewer hookups at each site. A mobile pump service is available for extended stays, or campers can use the centrally located dump station. Cell coverage varies across the region, with most parks reporting good Verizon service. Pine Cove Beach Club RV Resort remains open year-round, while several parks close between October and April. According to one visitor, "Navigation into the campground was ok for us, but watch your route. Do not attempt coming from Route 40 down Braddock's Run Rd to Leach Road. Leach Rd is a single lane dirt road that is very steep and rough."

    Tomlinson Run State Park Campground

    Nice little State Park

Tomlinson Run is a small state park situated in the northern panhandle of West Virginia nestled between eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania. Plenty of things to do there including but not limited to…. Mini golf, hiking trails, biking, swimming, fishing, paddle boats, parks for the kids, and of course the camping. The campsites here are mainly gravel pads with the exception being the asphalt handicapped spots (2). Most spots are 30 amp with a few 50 amp (new for 2021). The park also has a few primitive spots available and some yurts and cabins to rent. I have a 38’ fifth wheel and the spots are tight for it (even the couple pull thru). Campground facilities are clean but dated. They state new facilities are coming soon. The campground is at the top of a hill and the spots are wooded and shaded. I would consider the camping to be spaced generously (room to stretch out). They have a small camp store and information available. A breakfast is available during peak season for a small fee. They do have water and a dump station available (free for campers to use).

    Raccoon Creek State Park Campground

    Raccoon Creek Camping

This is a large state park offering electric only sites

The sites are set amounts the forest and there are several loops to choose from. Loop F is pet friendly. All sites are within walking distance to amenities

Amenities are quite run down but functional

Wildlife is beautiful and its a short ~10min drive to the beach area of Raccoon Creek lake.

Two (2) dump station spots and fresh water taps location throughout the park

NOTE: Many sites are not level, you will require blocks/timber to level out campers. Tent campers should choose their site using the photos on the state park site.

All sites have a paved car space.

    Glade Farms Campground

    Quiet place to rest

We headed to ride the trails at big bear lake camplands and booked here considering a recent outbreak of covid at the lake. The on call staff met us at the gated community and helped us get situated on a shaded lot. Very nice and quiet with mostly seasonal or permanent snowbirds. Small pond/lake on the property and plenty of shade. The lot was a challenge to be centered and level which led to us exiting our camper downhill. The water access was in ground and I cant imagine a camping couple that's well beyond retirement finding that convenient but it didn't impact us. Pet friendly and large lots. Bathhouse was closed due to covid. No firewood at this campground to purchase but fire ring provided and picnic tables.

Kentuck Campground — Ohiopyle State Park

    Nice Pennsylvania State Park

Very large park with a variety of campsites ranging from tent, 20/30 amp, 50 amp, and yurts. Price is the same for all electric sites, regardless of amperage. There is a 40-foot maximum vehicle length allowed in the campground– not a problem for our 17-foot van but the staffer who checked us in remarked that many people come in with larger rigs trying to squeeze in and are unable to. We had no problem securing a site with no reservation on a Monday evening after Labor Day. Very close to two Frank Lloyd Wright properties– Kentuck Knob and the more widely known Falling Waters. Other things to do in or near the park include whitewater rafting, rail trail biking, hiking, zip-lining and touring Laurel Caverns. The nearby town of Ohiopyle has many outfitters and several restaurants. The sites are all located on roads leading off the main road; we stayed in a 20/30amp site on Cherry Road (Site 49). It was right next to the bathroom which was good and bad. Good for proximity but bad because we could hear the hum quite clearly. Also, the door to the women’s room would hit you in the rear quite forcefully unless you held onto it (it took me three times to remember to do this)! There was a dishwashing sink in the women’s room (and I’m assuming in the men’s room?); it was very clean, but the only downside was having to do the dishes by myself! Alcohol is prohibited. Only certain areas allow pets. Only one garbage/recycling station outside of the campground. Wood and ice are available 24/7 on the honor system– very nice not to have to wait until a host is on duty to get what you need. Quiet hours 9 pm-8 am, a bit longer than most campgrounds but except for some sites with campfires still burning with people talking, it was very quiet in this campground. Surprisingly strong cell signal for being deep in the woods.

    Outflow Camping

    Quiet campground

This is a lovely army corps of engineers campground. The sites are gravel and level. Most only have 30 amp electric hookup but water can be filled at the “gatehouse” (for lack of better description). There are 3-4 full hookup and a few 50 amp. It is well-maintained— lawns mowed, bathrooms cleaned, sites tidy. Bath house isn’t modern but showers are hot and have great pressure. Campground filled up on the weekend. The sites are a bit close to each other and are mostly sunny but it was quiet anyway. Lots of people fishing on the river—access right from the campground. Great Allegheny Passage trail also accessed from the campground. Boating on the lake too.

    Tomlinson Run State Park Campground

    Very wooded campground

General: 50-site (all but six with electric hookups) campground plus two yurts and three cabins. Two sites are handicap accessible.

Site Quality: The sites have gravel pads (except the handicap-accessible ones which were paved). The sites were completely covered with leaves when we were there which made it challenging to determine where the actual (narrow) pad was. Sites appeared to be level. A fire ring and wooden picnic table complete the site.

Bathhouse: A little dated but clean. Two of the stall doors did not latch properly. Didn't use the shower so cannot comment but there was a sign indicating it took a while for the water to warm up.

Activities/Amenities: There is a small camper store, laundry, and a playground. In season, there is lake swimming and a boat dock. There is a fishing area, mini-golf and disc golf, and several short hiking trails. Unfortunately, since we arrived late afternoon and had to depart early the following day (and were camping off-season), we could not take advantage of any of these things. What we lose in activities, we gain in a quieter camping experience with fewer crowds, which is generally preferable for us!

    Kooser State Park Campground

    Great little campground

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here. We camped at site #15 and it was perfect. It fit our 34ft toy hauler without any issues. The park is beautiful and very well maintained. -Sites are spaced out. -Dog friendly. -$5 firewood bundles at the entrance. -Cleanest bathrooms/showers -Crystal clear stream with beautiful trail to the lake. Both stocked with fish. -Lots of picnic tables at the lake. -No formal check in. -Nice playground. -Easy access to dump site. -Kinda close to a main road so you do hear some traffic but nothing too bad. We will definitely be back! We love this area!

Guide to Sutersville

Campground options near Sutersville, Pennsylvania offer variety beyond traditional RV hookups. The area sits within the Allegheny Plateau region at elevations between 800-1,200 feet, creating rolling terrain that can challenge larger rigs on narrow roads. Late spring through early fall brings temperatures ranging from 70-85°F during peak camping season, with occasional thunderstorms requiring proper site drainage.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: Pioneer Lakes RV Park features stocked ponds where bass fishing is productive. "We stayed here to go to the flight 93 memorial so we didnt do much at the campground except fish cought a few nice bass," notes a camper at Pioneer Lakes RV Park.

GAP Trail access: Cyclists can access the Great Allegheny Passage directly through some campgrounds. "The GAP trail rolls right through the middle of this traditional KOA campground... for through riders on the trail there is a special place to camp, close to the west-bound entrance," explains a visitor at The Blue Canoe RV Resort.

Star gazing: Some campgrounds offer dedicated star viewing areas. At Benner's Meadow Run RV Campground, one camper got "a nice secluded spot to camp in the wooded area that had amazing mountain views and the star gazing platform."

What campers like

Clean facilities: Bathhouse cleanliness varies significantly between campgrounds. "Modern and well maintained" bathroom facilities were highlighted at The Blue Canoe RV Resort, while another camper noted "the new bath house which is personal bathroom style and very nice" at Benner's Meadow Run.

Swimming options: Several campgrounds maintain pools for summer recreation. Mirror Lake RV Camping & Fishing provides additional water fun with a creek for floating. One visitor noted, "Great place to stay! The kids play in and can float down [the creek]."

Large campsites: Space between sites varies significantly. Pine Cove Beach Club RV Resort received praise for "beautifully maintained lawns and gravel campsites, modern hookups" and "large sites, close to the highway but no road noise."

What you should know

Site levelness challenges: Many campgrounds in the area have sloping sites requiring significant leveling. "The spot was so unlevel there were 19 inches between my bottom step and the ground," reported a camper at Pioneer Lakes RV Park.

Seasonal operation fluctuations: While some campgrounds operate year-round, many have limited services in colder months. "Pools, restaurants, and many amenities typically close between October and April, with full operations resuming in May," according to regional camping patterns.

Road conditions: Internal roads at several campgrounds need maintenance. At Pioneer Lakes RV Park, a visitor mentioned "the roads around the camp ground could use some maintenance, especially on the hill side by the pool!"

Tips for camping with families

Playground safety: Check playground conditions before letting children play. A family visiting Pioneer Lakes noted "The playground area is unsafe. The wood on the playsets are falling apart and splintering. I had to pull a lot of splinters out of my child's hands and feet."

Kid-friendly activities: Several campgrounds offer scheduled entertainment for various age groups. Fox Den Acres Campground "provide[s] activities almost every evening, making sure every age range is catered to throughout the week."

Swimming alternatives: Look for campgrounds with creek access when pools are closed. At Mirror Lake RV Camping, "floating down the creek" is popular with families, giving children water play options beyond standard pools.

Tips from RVers

Route planning: Be cautious about GPS directions to campgrounds. When traveling to rv sites near Sutersville, Pennsylvania, follow campground-provided directions. At Washington-Pittsburgh SW KOA, a visitor advises "Follow the signs to the campground NOT the GPS in order to avoid some narrow and sharp turn roads."

Site selection strategies: Request specific sites when possible or pay selection fees. "We booked a site but chose not to pay to select which one. All the pictures looked great! We ended up on a grassy hill in the back," cautioned a Pioneer Lakes camper.

Hookup reliability: Water pressure and electrical service quality vary widely. At Pine Cove Beach Club RV Resort, visitors noted "good water pressure" while another camper at Fox Den Acres Campground reported "one freshwater connection was held down by racquet straps to keep it together" at a neighboring site.
