Best Campgrounds near Edinboro, PA

Campgrounds near Edinboro, Pennsylvania feature a mix of lakeside options, forested retreats, and full-service facilities. The Erie KOA in McKean and Sparrow Pond Family Campground provide cabin accommodations alongside traditional tent and RV sites, while Sara's Campground offers waterfront camping on Lake Erie approximately 30 miles north of Edinboro. The region includes several developed campgrounds with electric hookups, potable water, and shower facilities, with most properties maintaining seasonal operations from April through October.

Most campgrounds in the area operate on a reservation system, especially during the peak summer months when lakeside sites fill quickly. Access roads are generally well-maintained with paved or graded gravel surfaces suitable for most vehicles. The camping season typically runs from mid-April through October, with many facilities closing during winter due to northwestern Pennsylvania's heavy snow accumulation. Water hookups at many campgrounds are typically shut down during colder months to prevent freezing. Cell service is generally reliable near developed areas but may become spotty in more remote locations. A camper noted, "Presque Isle Lighthouse is open 7 days a week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and there's a boat tour that was $16.00 and well worth it to learn about the history of the island."

Lake access represents a defining feature of many campgrounds in the Edinboro region. Pymatuning State Park receives consistently positive reviews for its lakefront sites and fishing opportunities, with campers praising the water views and recreation options. Families particularly appreciate campgrounds with amenities like swimming pools, playgrounds, and organized activities. Several visitors mentioned appreciating the convenience of having restaurants and food service nearby, particularly at sites like Sara's Campground which features dining options on the premises. Those seeking a quieter experience may prefer the more wooded settings of campgrounds like Sparrow Pond Family Campground, which offers a balance of amenities and natural surroundings. The proximity to water activities makes this region especially popular during summer months, with one reviewer describing Pymatuning as "a beautiful park with most if not all sites having views of the beautiful lake and the Pennsylvania shoreline."

    Village Green Campground

    Long-term RV

This site is great if you’re moving in with your RV. I’m tent camping, and while there were tent sites (about 5), it wasn’t the atmosphere I generally go for.

Positives- there are bathrooms, showers, and laundry. Right on Lake Erie. Fine for overnight.

Cons- this is a live-in RV site in the outskirts of Ohio.

    Westfield-Lake Erie KOA

    Overnighter

We only stayed for an overnighter on a long trip west. The restrooms and showers are some of the best we’ve seen during our trip. Very well maintained facilities and grounds and the staff are friendly and helpful. We were able to change our site for one that was more level without a problem. The only thing that might bother some people is the road noise. However we were able to sleep well despite it. There is also a dog “park”/fenced area.

Sun Retreats Geneva on the Lake

    2025 return home

Update.. these kids on bikes all night driving right in front of karts at 11p.m. is out of control. Dust control is better in the back and the Pavillion is gone. It had the brightest light that over lit too many camp sites.

    Follys End Campground

    Great No Frills Camp!

This place has an old time feel that me of good times past. The sites are generally spacious, and are gravel based. The driveway to the camp seemed to be recently paved. The owner is very friendly and is on site. Camp office was geared towards fishing but was very interesting. Bathrooms were clean and the grounds looked good. Was very quiet at night and generally even on the weekend. I have not seen prices this low before. Definitely will be back to try the trout fishing!

Pet friendly, propane available, WiFi available near office, AT&T service good, Large stream runs along the property, and it was a nice hike up it!

    Thompson/Grand River Valley KOA Holiday

    Great family trip

We had a great time. The staff was wonderful. The kids loved both the pool and the lake. The breakfast pizza was great. The food prices were very reasonable. The wrist band for kid activities is well worth it.
