Best RV Parks & Resorts near Library, PA

RV parks around Library, Pennsylvania include Washington-Pittsburgh SW KOA near Washington with full hookups, Pine Cove Beach Club RV Resort in Charleroi offering year-round access, and The Blue Canoe RV Resort in Connellsville open May through October. Most parks feature 50-amp electrical service, water, and sewer connections for larger motorhomes, while Raccoon Creek State Park provides more limited hookup options but accommodates RVs on concrete pads. Site conditions vary significantly between commercial parks and state facilities, with some private campgrounds offering pull-through sites for easier access. "Many RV sites are not level, not only that but they are narrow and where you sit is a slope making it very uncomfortable," noted one guest about the Washington-Pittsburgh KOA.

Along major travel routes like I-76, RV travelers can find reliable overnight options such as Fox Den Acres Campground with full hookup pull-through sites. Navigation to mountain campgrounds may require careful planning as some access roads feature tight turns and steep grades that challenge larger motorhomes. Seasonal operation affects availability, with several parks closing between October and April. Most RV facilities provide sanitary dump stations, though amenities vary widely between budget and premium locations. Pet-friendly policies are common but restricted to specific camping loops in state parks. During peak summer weekends and fall foliage season, advance reservations are essential as riverside and shaded sites fill quickly. Cell service can be spotty in rural valleys, particularly at state park campgrounds west of Pittsburgh.

    Tomlinson Run State Park Campground

    Nice little State Park

Tomlinson Run is a small state park situated in the northern panhandle of West Virginia nestled between eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania. Plenty of things to do there including but not limited to…. Mini golf, hiking trails, biking, swimming, fishing, paddle boats, parks for the kids, and of course the camping. The campsites here are mainly gravel pads with the exception being the asphalt handicapped spots (2). Most spots are 30 amp with a few 50 amp (new for 2021). The park also has a few primitive spots available and some yurts and cabins to rent. I have a 38’ fifth wheel and the spots are tight for it (even the couple pull thru). Campground facilities are clean but dated. They state new facilities are coming soon. The campground is at the top of a hill and the spots are wooded and shaded. I would consider the camping to be spaced generously (room to stretch out). They have a small camp store and information available. A breakfast is available during peak season for a small fee. They do have water and a dump station available (free for campers to use).

    Bear Run Campground

    Loads to do...!

This campground is deceptively big! The nightly RV sites are close to the park entrance and are relatively flat. The campground hosts themed events, game nights and arts& crafts. There is a swimming pool and playground for the kids. It also has a small café that sells baked goods and coffee. On Saturdays they sell amazing Armish Donuts!

Further into the campground the sites turn to more permanent sites. Further up the hill are more cottages and camping. This campground is steep in parts and too large to walk efficiently. There is a fenced dog run area and a beautiful lake. All sites have fire rings. There is an onsite laundry, WIFI, onsite dump station and propane refill station.

You can also buy ice and firewood. The campground is gated. Lots to do at the campground and lots to do in the surrounding area. They welcome all furry friends!

    Raccoon Creek State Park Campground

    Raccoon Creek Camping

This is a large state park offering electric only sites

The sites are set amounts the forest and there are several loops to choose from. Loop F is pet friendly. All sites are within walking distance to amenities

Amenities are quite run down but functional

Wildlife is beautiful and its a short ~10min drive to the beach area of Raccoon Creek lake.

Two (2) dump station spots and fresh water taps location throughout the park

NOTE: Many sites are not level, you will require blocks/timber to level out campers. Tent campers should choose their site using the photos on the state park site.

All sites have a paved car space.

    Glade Farms Campground

    Quiet place to rest

We headed to ride the trails at big bear lake camplands and booked here considering a recent outbreak of covid at the lake. The on call staff met us at the gated community and helped us get situated on a shaded lot. Very nice and quiet with mostly seasonal or permanent snowbirds. Small pond/lake on the property and plenty of shade. The lot was a challenge to be centered and level which led to us exiting our camper downhill. The water access was in ground and I cant imagine a camping couple that's well beyond retirement finding that convenient but it didn't impact us. Pet friendly and large lots. Bathhouse was closed due to covid. No firewood at this campground to purchase but fire ring provided and picnic tables.

Kentuck Campground — Ohiopyle State Park

    Nice Pennsylvania State Park

Very large park with a variety of campsites ranging from tent, 20/30 amp, 50 amp, and yurts. Price is the same for all electric sites, regardless of amperage. There is a 40-foot maximum vehicle length allowed in the campground– not a problem for our 17-foot van but the staffer who checked us in remarked that many people come in with larger rigs trying to squeeze in and are unable to. We had no problem securing a site with no reservation on a Monday evening after Labor Day. Very close to two Frank Lloyd Wright properties– Kentuck Knob and the more widely known Falling Waters. Other things to do in or near the park include whitewater rafting, rail trail biking, hiking, zip-lining and touring Laurel Caverns. The nearby town of Ohiopyle has many outfitters and several restaurants. The sites are all located on roads leading off the main road; we stayed in a 20/30amp site on Cherry Road (Site 49). It was right next to the bathroom which was good and bad. Good for proximity but bad because we could hear the hum quite clearly. Also, the door to the women’s room would hit you in the rear quite forcefully unless you held onto it (it took me three times to remember to do this)! There was a dishwashing sink in the women’s room (and I’m assuming in the men’s room?); it was very clean, but the only downside was having to do the dishes by myself! Alcohol is prohibited. Only certain areas allow pets. Only one garbage/recycling station outside of the campground. Wood and ice are available 24/7 on the honor system– very nice not to have to wait until a host is on duty to get what you need. Quiet hours 9 pm-8 am, a bit longer than most campgrounds but except for some sites with campfires still burning with people talking, it was very quiet in this campground. Surprisingly strong cell signal for being deep in the woods.

    Outflow Camping

    Quiet campground

This is a lovely army corps of engineers campground. The sites are gravel and level. Most only have 30 amp electric hookup but water can be filled at the “gatehouse” (for lack of better description). There are 3-4 full hookup and a few 50 amp. It is well-maintained— lawns mowed, bathrooms cleaned, sites tidy. Bath house isn’t modern but showers are hot and have great pressure. Campground filled up on the weekend. The sites are a bit close to each other and are mostly sunny but it was quiet anyway. Lots of people fishing on the river—access right from the campground. Great Allegheny Passage trail also accessed from the campground. Boating on the lake too.

    Tomlinson Run State Park Campground

    Very wooded campground

General: 50-site (all but six with electric hookups) campground plus two yurts and three cabins. Two sites are handicap accessible.

Site Quality: The sites have gravel pads (except the handicap-accessible ones which were paved). The sites were completely covered with leaves when we were there which made it challenging to determine where the actual (narrow) pad was. Sites appeared to be level. A fire ring and wooden picnic table complete the site.

Bathhouse: A little dated but clean. Two of the stall doors did not latch properly. Didn't use the shower so cannot comment but there was a sign indicating it took a while for the water to warm up.

Activities/Amenities: There is a small camper store, laundry, and a playground. In season, there is lake swimming and a boat dock. There is a fishing area, mini-golf and disc golf, and several short hiking trails. Unfortunately, since we arrived late afternoon and had to depart early the following day (and were camping off-season), we could not take advantage of any of these things. What we lose in activities, we gain in a quieter camping experience with fewer crowds, which is generally preferable for us!

    Pioneer Park Campground

    Love Pioneer Park

Very friendly ownership. Always go out of their way to accommodate. Pleanty of very well maintaIned large sights all pull through. Great camp store, fire wood, fire rings, very clean facilities. Three large lakes, fishing. One of our very favorite places to camp with our 38 foot motorhome.

Guide to Library

Campsites near Library, Pennsylvania occupy terrain characterized by rolling hills with elevations ranging between 900-1,400 feet. Many campgrounds sit along river valleys where summer temperatures average 75-85°F with evening lows reaching 55-65°F. July brings the highest rainfall, averaging 4-5 inches, creating occasionally muddy conditions at non-paved sites.

What to do

Kayaking on the Youghiogheny River: Access the water directly from The Blue Canoe RV Resort where "the ramp for entering/exiting with your kayak stopped before river getting to the river's edge. It was very muddy after the ramp, so it was slick getting to the river and we sunk into the mud several inches," according to one visitor who still enjoyed paddling despite access challenges.

Star gazing opportunities: Visit Benner's Meadow Run RV Campground which features a dedicated observation area. "The star gazing platform leaves a lot to be desired and is in need of repair," notes one camper, though the mountain views make nighttime viewing worthwhile.

Hiking regional trails: Multiple trail networks connect to campgrounds including the GAP (Great Allegheny Passage) which "rolls right through the middle of" The Blue Canoe Resort. The 40+ miles of trails at Raccoon Creek State Park include "the Palomino Loop" which a winter visitor found "great" for "stretching the legs" even in snowy conditions.

What campers like

Clean swimming facilities: At Benner's Meadow Run, campers appreciate "the pool which was nice" while at other properties swimming areas remain popular but variable in condition. The Blue Canoe Resort features river swimming while Austin Lake RV Park offers "a lake with inflatables, jumps, slides" where "they loved the lake and everything there was to do on it."

Level site availability: Campgrounds vary greatly in this respect. Austin Lake RV Park & Cabins receives praise for "great spots all along the main strip, lake side and creek side," though the approach road requires caution as "it is all downhill getting there. Take your time and all will be just fine. Our rig is 39' & 16K."

Pet-friendly accommodations: Raccoon Creek State Park Campground features "designated pet areas" and campers note it's "a great place to take the dog out to swim and chase geese and ducks." Most private campgrounds allow pets but may restrict them to certain areas or charge additional fees.

What you should know

Seasonal variations: While some rv sites near Library, Pennsylvania remain open year-round, many close between October and April. Pine Cove Beach Club RV Resort offers "year-round access" while The Blue Canoe Resort operates only from "May 1 to October 18."

Shower access challenges: At Austin Lake, campers should "take quarters...bc the showers are coin operated." Site facilities vary widely, with some campgrounds offering modern bathhouses while others provide minimal facilities.

Cell service limitations: Many campgrounds have poor connectivity. At Austin Lake, campers report "no phone service at all, no matter the carrier," which some appreciate as one visitor "loved not having cell service at all."

Road access concerns: When approaching The Blue Canoe Resort, follow posted directions as "the hills were terrible getting there, then another hill to get to the KOA. Then ANOTHER hill to get to our site." Similarly, at Raccoon Creek, "you drive up a long, steep, windy road to the campgrounds."

Tips for camping with families

Activity planning: Washington-Pittsburgh SW KOA has "a playground for the kids to unwind after a long day on the road," which parents appreciate. Similarly, Benner's Meadow Run offers "plenty of activities" with "multiple playgrounds" throughout the grounds.

Swimming options: Pine Cove Beach Club RV Resort features "the pool & concession stand" which provides convenient food options. One visitor called it a "perfect weekend at the pool" due to these amenities.

Site selection considerations: At Washington-Pittsburgh SW KOA, choose sites away from high-traffic areas as some campers reported having "people walk through our site on shortcuts to the bathroom in the middle of the night."

Budget planning: Be prepared for extra costs at some locations. At Austin Lake "almost anything you want to do will cost you an additional charge" beyond your campsite fee, with activities like lake inflatables requiring separate payment.

Tips from RVers

Leveling equipment needs: For rv sites near Library, Pennsylvania, bring substantial leveling blocks. At Washington-Pittsburgh SW KOA, "a dozen or so of the sites are not level, not only that but they are narrow and where you sit is a slope making it very uncomfortable."

Electrical capacity verification: Call ahead to confirm amperage. While most commercial parks advertise 50-amp service, actual availability varies by site. One campground visitor noted sites with "modern hookups" but varying electrical capacity.

Site dimensions: Many campgrounds have tight spacing between sites. Washington-Pittsburgh SW KOA features spots that are "very tight driving" with sites where "they really pack you in." Benner's Meadow Run similarly has "sites very close together with little privacy."

Approach route planning: Avoid steep grades where possible by following campground directions rather than GPS. For Austin Lake, "it will seem a little sketchy getting in. The road dead-ends into the campground and it is all downhill getting there." Using 4WD in low gear helps "not cause you need 4wd just for the lower gears."
