    The Camp

    Awesome Urban camping experience

My wife and I are working remotely and exploring the PNW, and certain amenities are important: full hook up for our trailer, pet friendly, laundry, WiFi, and good location. The Camp HAS it ALL. Located in Bend, close to a Safeway grocery store, Walgreens, Starbucks and Dutch & Bros plus a lot of other places...easy drive to the freeways so you can go explore around. Weโ€™ve met a few people that are regulars there and they love it. We loved it too and will be back when in the area. Tyler, the manager is great, cool guy, knows all the details of the trailers and he can tell you a bit about Bend and about things to do since he is local. He takes good care of the place! The Camp is a small campground and very cozy. It has vintage trailers for people to rent as well as a tiny house plus full hook up sites. They also have a common area with gas grills (2), a gas fire pit with blankets available, two tables with umbrellas and chairs, great laundry facility, awesome bathrooms (individual toilette, sink and shower, 4-5 hooks, which is great so you can hang your stuff. Pass code needed for bathrooms and laundry rooms. There is a gated pet area which is great for the dogs to be off leash for a bit (kinda of hidden by the office). They have trash and recycle, which is great. Weโ€™ve seen half and half in terms of campgrounds that recycle vs those who donโ€™t. We wish they all had a recycle option and The Camp had glass, plastic, paper, can recycle. The sites are very close to one another and there are not mature trees but you are in the city so thatโ€™s expected. While there we went on a cool drive and stopped to see the sea of lava...we are still talking about it...those lavas have been there for over 1,500 years...it is amazing and picturesque. After stopping at the sea of lava, we went to Dee Wright Observatory, walked to the top and enjoyed the beautiful view, then continued on our scenic drive to the proxy falls. It was an easy 1.25 mile (round trip) hike. It was raining so it was a bit muddy and slippery in certain areas but super fun (we had our two dogs with us and we were fine), people were doing the hike with their kids-so good for families too. We loved it. While in Bend, we went to a park in town, which was cute and people were walking around, laying in the grass, paddle Bording, kayaking and we also saw some people getting into the river on a raft. Lots to do in Bend...scenic drives, hiking, mountain biking, road biking, river water rafting, etc. This is a super cool campground, well maintained, super clean and it even has a hair salon in an air stream! This place has personality! We loved it and will be back.

    Olallie Lake Resort

    Correction

There are a couple differences between the Olallie Lake Resort and its facilities vs The Olallie Lake Guard Station Cabin. Although near to each other on the lake, and both managed by theย  resort staff, the Guard Station Cabin is owed by the Forest Service. They do notย allow pets in the cabin or in your car when you rent it.ย

The resort rents a number of rustic cabins themselves, along with two yurts, and operates a number of nearby campgrounds, the store, and the boat rentals.

The Guard Station Cabin must be rented from Recreation.gov , and has much less basic facilities, kitchen with hot & cold running water.ย  Propane powered stove/oven,ย  refrigerator , and built in lights.ย  Pit toilet nearby,

I believe the other reviews refer to the resort's cabins.

    Clear Lake Resort

    Best place to canoe

A small quaint Resort. Would love to stay at the cabins, but my schedule is the same as everyone else. Was told by the Ranger to come and stay after Labor Day, they are open year round. I find it easy to bring my kayak up and use the lake to enjoy rowing around. This would be a great place for those paddle boards. The lake is for non-motorized boats. Can do fishing too. The Lodge is open as a restaurant between Memorial to Labor day. Boat rentals, cabin rentals and tent sites avaiable check the www.linnparks.com or call (541) 967-3917. A must to RSVP

Deschutes River Campground โ€” The Cove Palisades State Park

    Fun Times!

This campground has it all, except water. Although, the water is nearby & there's bumper boats! Electricity, running water, showers, a fire pit, picnic table, a campstore, & firewood for sale. We only stayed two nights, but we had a great time. We went to nearby Richardson Rock Ranch & came back to the campground in the evenings. We will be coming back.

    The Camp

    Super cool vibe, great ameneties

As far as RV parks go, this is the coolest one I have ever been to.ย  They have RV pads that you can bring your own trailer to, or you can rent one of their beautifully restored vintage trailers or tiny homes that they have on site.ย  They have a pretty central location in town, so although you won't feel immersed in the wilderness, you will be walking distance from several great breweries and restaurants.ย  This is the perfect respite after camping in the boondocks for several days.ย ย

They have a really great common area with a gas fire pit, 2 gas grills, tables, and corn hole.ย  They also have heated bathrooms and laundry trailers.ย  You can't be a great business without great staff, and the staff at The Camp Bend is really top notch.ย  They are a great resource about fun things to do in the area, and are always friendly.ย  10/10 would recommend.

    Pelton Park Campground

Great dog and family friendly campground

Pelton park was clean and well taken care of during our visit. The park is very family-friendly, with easy physical access to restrooms, the docks and playground equipment. Pet-friendly too, stocked poo bags, poles by restrooms to hold leashes and a small fenced-in area to let the dogs run and play. Docks were clean and safe. Rental boats were well-maintained. The yomes are small, 6 people and 2 dogs is tight and gear had to stay outside with that many people, but we all fit. The lake itself is beautiful, good fishing, and appreciate the 10mph speed limit throughout the majority of the lake.

Bend / Sisters Garden RV Resort

    Quaint Garden

We were fortunate to stay at Bend Sisters Garden RV Resort in Sisters, Oregon. It was lovely and filled with lush greenery ๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒฒ and beautiful flowers ๐Ÿ’ ๐ŸŒธ ๐ŸŒบ ๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒท๐ŸŒผ. The resort is meticulously clean. The bathrooms and showers were in a log cabin and hook ups were the nicest weโ€™ve seen. 5 โญ๏ธ in our opinion.

    Pelton Park Campground

Family campground on a fishing lake with amenities

Generations of campers have stayed here, and if you have little ones, no doubt they'll want to continue the tradition. The park has experienced many improvements since the landslide transformed and closed it many years ago. Available to rent now are yomes (yurt domes) with bunkbeds and inexpensive lake view cabins with AC and heat. A swimming hole, playground and amphitheatre delight little campers, and a store/restaurant/rental business delight adults who run out of ice, beer, fishing tackle, or other necessities. Kayaks, paddle boards and other water sport equipment is available for rent. The lake is long and deep with Kokanee, Rainbow Trout and Bull Trout, but you'll need to make sure you purchase an Indian permit (available at the store) if you want to fish for them. Take a trolling boat up the narrows to the back of Round Butte Dam in the morning and rev up the engine for a mile of skiing area near Pelton Dam to cool off in the afternoon. This is a PGE park with on-site camp hosts and regular visits from the local law enforcement. You'll feel safe camping here solo or with your children. Quiet time is politely enforced. There is a community kitchen available for cooking or washing dishes and clean flush toilets and shower facilities are on site. Electrical hookups abound, even if you are tenting, you can bring an extension cord to recharge, light, or cool off your campsite.

The park features "a large roped off swimming hole" and is "a great lake for all water sports" according to Ashley B.

What campers like

Seasonal ranger programs: The Cove Palisades offers educational activities for visitors. "They put on a power point for the kids about local animals," notes Troy B. Prineville Reservoir also receives praise: "The educational programs are outstanding! The amenities are well cared for and the surroundings are incredible!" says Rayne C.

What you should know

Site spacing varies significantly: At Tumalo State Park, "sites are a little too close together" according to Brian V. Similarly, at Lake Simtustus, some sites in certain areas are quite compact: "We're camping 2 ft from our neighbors" notes Sue D.

Weather considerations: The region experiences temperature swings. "This is high desert so sites are pretty much just dirt," explains Kelly M. at The Cove Palisades. Another visitor warns "it can get blazing hot" at Prineville Reservoir, recommending river shoes for swimming areas due to stickers.

Reservation requirements: Most cabin locations require advance planning. Bend Sisters Garden RV Resort requires you to "reserve well in advance" according to Brian C., especially during peak periods or special events as it's "right next to the Sisters rodeo."

Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly amenities: Pelton Park Campground offers multiple recreation options. "A swimming hole, playground and amphitheatre delight little campers," writes Lisa K. Troy M. adds that the park provides a "group shelter with electricity and electric cooking stoves" useful for family gatherings.

Water safety areas: Prineville Reservoir maintains designated swimming zones. "The swim area is marked and dogs are not allowed in that area so you don't have to worry about dog messes where your kiddos are walking barefoot and swimming," explains Lesa H.

Evening quiet policies: Many campgrounds enforce noise regulations. Troy B. notes at The Cove Palisades: "Everyone there really obeyed the 10PM noise ordinance. The campsites were pretty close together and I didn't hear a single person after 10PM."

Tips from RVers

Utility hookups: Different cabins offer varying levels of amenities. At Redmond - Central Oregon KOA, sites include "gravel with spin outs no grass just dried out weeds" according to Chris W., while Bend Sisters Garden RV Resort features "pavement and full hookups" with "a nice green lawn and fire ring" at each space.

Service amenities: Some locations offer additional conveniences. Bend Sisters Garden RV Resort provides a helpful service where "if you put out your propane tank in front of your spot, they'll pick it up, refill it and deliver back," notes Pops A.

Space considerations: Larger vehicles require specific sites. Tumalo State Park visitors should "make sure you book the correct size" as it's a "very small park with FHU's" according to John L., who recommends checking space dimensions before making reservations.
