Frog Lake

CAMPER SUMMARY PRESENTED BYFord

Frog Lake, near Mt. Hood National Forest, is a charming spot for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle. This campground offers a laid-back atmosphere with spacious sites, making it a solid choice for families and groups wanting a bit of privacy while enjoying the great outdoors.

The facilities here are clean, with well-maintained vault toilets that visitors rave about. Campers have noted the peaceful vibe, with many appreciating the quietness compared to busier spots nearby. As one reviewer put it, “The camp guests were quiet and respectful, which made it worth it.”

Frog Lake itself is shallow and warm, perfect for kids to splash around and explore the abundance of tadpoles and tiny frogs. There’s a nice trail that circles the lake, offering lovely views of Mt. Hood from certain angles. Just be sure to pack some bug repellent, as the flying insects can be a bit pesky at times.

If you're looking for a quieter alternative to the more crowded campgrounds in the area, Frog Lake is a great option. With its proximity to hiking trails and the stunning scenery of Mt. Hood, it’s an ideal spot for a relaxing getaway.

Nice Respite

Came here for one night. Nice Forest Service campground. Dry camping and pit toilets. (lots of flies in the restroom!)

Small lake. Good for swimming and kayaking. Watching osprey. I walked around the lake, although there really isn't a trail. '

Wonderful views of Mt Hood. No issue getting a site mid-week in August.

Good availability, clean toilets

We stayed here as Trillium Lake was full. You can hear trucks from the highway and Frog Lake itself is rather unimpressive truthfully, but it was quiet and the vault/pit toilets were the cleanest I've ever used. The camp guests were quiet and respectful, which made it worth it. I'm not sure things would have been as quiet at Trillum. Plus, all the sites are pretty large (ours had two tables) which was great. I think it's a great option if you want proximity to some of the destinations in Mt. Hood without all the people. :)

Also, no service with T-Mobile and no campfires right now due to restrictions.

Beautiful campground

The campground itself was very nice and clean. The camp hosts were very nice. There were a lot of flying insects. The lake is extremely muddy and full of tadpoles. The lake itself is very shallow. Overall great experience but bring your bug repellent.

It was okay.

I just couldn’t get over hearing the semi trucks on 26. But... There’s a nice view of Hood on the south side of the lake. Vault toilets. It was July, bugs were not bad. There were a tons of baby frogs everywhere on the northside of the lake, it was crazy to see. Good hiking nearby.

Beautiful and Quiet

Can't hear the highway and the lake is beautiful, but you can't see the mountain from the campground side.

Small, Quiet Campground close to Mt. Hood

This small campground is a great alternative to the busier campgrounds found near by.  It does not have the views of Mt. Hood like the pictures show, the views of Hood can be found at the day use area on the opposite side of the lake.  There is a great trail that goes all the way around the lake and offers plenty of little spots to stop and fish.  The spots were plenty large enough and had enough space between them to offer privacy from your neighbors.  If you are not able to book a spot in the busier campgrounds near by this is a great alternative.

My favorite place

My grandparents used to take us camping here long time ago. Then the rest of the entire family started going too. Im 51 yrs old now nd still love the feeling of tadpoles between my toes lol. The lake is calm nd shallow for a long ways so kids can play safely all day. Safe trail around the lake and u can hear ur kids for long distances. Miss camping here nd think i will try to soon.

Frogger heaven!

I have not camped here but we go up and spend the day often. The facilities are clean and well kept. The best part about this place is the tiny frogs you catch. The ground literally moves with them!

Frog Lake

The grounds are nice and secluded. It does get much colder at night because it is close to the lake! Go during a weekday in the summer! The trees look a lIttle.... chopped down also...
